No pixel-art this time, but some sketches done in the real world...
First a couple of incidental characters, that will probably be included in my game in one form or anaother. Anna the nurse, and the cook at the garrison, Papa Django.

Next, I've started taking up trying to learn to draw more realistically. This is the first of hopefully many more to come.

wow that's awesome!
I wish I could draw like that :o

You go and find a job at blizzard! NOW! ;D

That is one kickass wolf.
edit: hold on, i've been looking for an excuse to use this smiley:

:o  :o

plasticman

those drawings are excellent, esp. the wolf. i suppose you used a model ?

i only have a comment : i noticed your characters' wrists are a bit wide.. i guess it's part of your style, but the nurse's left forearm doesn't look very realistic because of that.

anyway, great stuff

Nacho

HEY XADHOOM, THAT´S NO FAIR!!! THE OTHER ARTISTS ON THE FORUM WANT A CHANCE!!! YOU´RE GIVING US NO OPTIONS! You´re the best...  :'(

Well... best is difficult to say, because many are good... I like also Helm a lot, and many other people that should be embarrassing to say, because I would probably forget somebody...

Go on with the good work!
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Darth Mandarb

Dude ... you rock.

Her wrists do look a little big, but I dig it.  It gives it style.

I think you are making Pessi lose a job. Please do us all a favor and make some tutorials! Lgm will even host them for you. And if you cant do that use the desktop vidio thing I showed you. And if you dont, I will hack onto your PC and look at your stuff! MUAHAHAHA!!!  :P (No really, I will)

Neole

These are excellent Xadhoom! Makes me wonder why you opt for lo-res in your game.

Some things that look odd, nitpicky really -

- the nurse's right hand looks awkward, sort of disjointed at the elbow
- saw blade too short
- waist pack perspective looks a lil off
- cut-paste the cook's head forward and lower, for a really menacing look
- make his cigar shorter or wider
- love his stomach fold and arm muscles!

The wolf is of course perfect!

DinghyDog

Yes, amazing job as always, Xadhoom. I agree, the woman's right arm looks like it's disembodied. A simple line would suffice, but right now it looks a little strange. And about the big guy...this is just a style point (so don't take it to heart unless you really agree) but maybe it would look better if his lower lip jutted out a bit as well.

But that was blown out of proportion. Your art is amazing, and the small flaws don't stand out at all.

It's yer owld pal Dinghy Dog!!

ratracer

Man! And those are ONLY sketches! Amazing talent you have!
...

Xadhoom

Thanks for the replys, guys...and good crits, too. Will be corrected. :D

Xadhoom: Man you are a truly gifted artist.
you make me want to sketch more :)
which is a good thing.
keep those coming,they are great.
btw the wolf is beautifully made.

Ginny

Your drawings are amazing! :o
That wolf is so cute! ;)

I have a question: How long did it take you to reach this? Is it just a natural talent, or did it take tons of practice? and how long approximately does it take you to do a sketch like this? Just wodering ;).

Lol, thanks for the praise, guys.
Zmir: Glad to inspire you, man. :)
GinnyW: Heh, practice, practice, practice...for about twenty years. I was confined to a wheelchair in the early years of my life (had some sort of hip disorder) and spent most of my time drawing and playing with Lego, when other kids where out playing soccer and stuff...
As for how long sketches like these take? The characters: Around 15 minutes each. The wolf: Around 2 hours.

Whoa, that's a long time of practice. It ussually cheers me up to know that if I just practise for a looong time, I'll get to this divinity.
Naw, not a chance :P ;).

The problem is I don't know where to begin. I've read many tutorials, but it didn't really help very much, and I don't know just how things look, since I never pay much attention to it. Yes, I know, observe, observe, observe.
You inspired me, so now I'm off to draw some stuff. ;)

Btw, you use different thicknesses of pencils and a sketchbook, or just plain paper? Is using different thicknesses of pencils important?
My, I have a lot of questions today :P.

SLaMgRInDeR

one question, did you draw that wolf from a photo, or from memory?
(   (   ( <( -_-)> )   )   )

DodgeR

heh Xadhoom, yeh your honed your skills well:-)

The wolf is great, absolutely stunning.

I can empathise with the amount of practise that needs to be put into art, i lived in my sketchpad drawing Transformers!!! till i learned i could speak:-) when i were a lad

certainly shows up my drawings...

oh well, just 10 more years of constant drawing... lol. i spose it did only take about 10 mins.
(those sketches forced me to draw!)

Thats one cute wolf SLaMgRInDeR! Xadhooms is more fierce, yours looks calmer and sleep. Of course I think all wolves are cute! ;)
I love it.
