Here's a short piece of this tune I'm working on at the moment. I'm rather satisfied with it, but one thing bugs me big time. The strings. I feel the chords are all wrong. Any comments appreciated, but especially I'd like comments on the strings.

EDIT: Ah, now when listening to this tune with speakers, some instruments appear to be too loud. Oh well, I will fix it after I get some comments on it.
Because of my bad english, I didn't know how to explain this, so here's a mid with strings only:

0:00 - 0:14 - Your version of the strings,
0:18 - 0:34 - My version with one changed note at the end.
Damien, you shifted the strings an octave down.
However, I think that the tune needs either softer(slower) strings or sharper ones - thats somewhere inbetween.
Actually, the strings go like this: Blammo. (http://personal.inet.fi/surf/presents/harbour_strings.mid)
The first part is like in the original song, the second part with Damien's edit.
Also, people people! More comments!
QuoteDamien, you shifted the strings an octave down.
I know it wasn't exact, it was just a quick example.
And Pete, I like the tune. Maybe you could add some more variations to the bass line but it's ok as it is.
Nice work Petteri. I love the dub style drums. :)
Holy Crap, your getting good petteri! Good stuff...
I like the composition. Not much I can say about that, the strings sound fine to me.
Quotewhen listening to this tune with speakers, some instruments appear to be too loud
This, however, I agree with. The piano is a bit too loud, and listening with headphones it feels like it's way too panned to the left. Try centering it a little, or put a little echo of it in the right channel or something to make it a bit richer.
Cheerios fellas. Here's an updated version, Download here. (http://personal.inet.fi/surf/presents/harbour_wip2.mp3)
However, in part starting at 00:32 I'm planning to make it change more so it doesn't get too repetitive. Also, I'm planning to add sound of waves on the background, as in Pleurghburg. I tried it and I think it sounds good. And after all, the tune will be played in a scene with sea in it.
