Title: ***the journal for last painful days
Post by: Tuomas on Thu 27/07/2006 13:44:36
OK, even though i think I'm leaving this fucked up country soon, I have bought a wlan card... you know. And I installed the drivers on my computer and the card, and started using it. It finds a net at the beach here, 99% it says, I think that's fairly good. Yet in the desktop there's this icon on the righthand down (don't have time to remember the name for it), and it says the name of it, and that there's no connection. Now I open the program, find the web that's 99% and choose it and press connect... it ticks for a while and then does nothing... I'd sure like to get this working on my laptop snce I did pay 42 euros for it, and now 3 euros for 30 minutes on this computer

Shit I hate this country...

Anyway, I can't tell right now the name of the card, but I have windows 98se, and it should work on it. My guess is I've got some setup wrong somewhere, but who knows...:P

Anyway, I would really appreciate all the help you could give me, and I would appreciate even more if you were available to sms me help since this internet is bloody expensive and I don't have any money left. hm... they say never give your phone number in the internet, but hey, my boss has it, and he's not to be trusted, that much I know:P
Spoiler
+35844637211 that is to Finland, but sms is fairly cheap
[close]

thanks all the same

Haaa, how's it going in Spain :D? Any chicas calientes?

Umm...I haven't had a lot of experience with WLANs, but I'm guessing the "no connection" icon is the default non-wireless connection. So that is supposed to have no connection. But yeah, you should be able to connect through the wireless connection. As far as I know,  the wlan uses the connections it finds as backup to the default, so it should work. It's really difficult to tell. It could be that your configurations are incorrect.

Anyways, good luck with your ventures and with the Spain deal and all. Why exactly is Mallorca is so screwed up :D?

The fact that I'm working in Ibiza right now. And it's shit, I'm coming home next week most likely. I hate this place, the nearest shop is 20 km away, and it's shit. My boss is a fuckhead nigger, the food is awful. I work 3 hours a day with 2 pauses making it 9 hours, gettin 3,64 e per hour, mising my family, having horrible rstomach ache because of the food. Anyway, I could come home and study and get a job or live with social security much easier. Besides now I live with two romanian guys in the same room, and our toilet is broken so we have to walk a while in order to let out the pressure. And this internet connection costs bloody much, and there's no net for my phone either.

I'm so going to jerk of on my bosses mixerboard before I leave!

That was probably the funniest thing I've read in months. I just read it a second time, and I can't stop laughing :D. I guess it's the famous finnish way of taking pleasure in other people's misery :). I commend the self-irony. And the last line is legendary. I just can't stop laughing :D.

Anyways, good luck, and I hope you make it back safely. Just get a job from McDonald's or something. They pay minimum wage which is double what you're making there :). Btw, why Ibiza and not Mallorca?

Is the wlan open? Becasue if you need some password or whatdoyacallit-number for it, you need to add the network to the list of primary(?) networks and give it the code there, I think.

All Windows' I've got have the text in Finnish and I don't know how they are in the English version so go reckon... :P

Ahaha, I knew you'd get all crazy there. Finns + heat + broken toilet + Romanian guys do not mix. 3,6e pffft. I get more making crappy websites.

yes it is quite possible that you need the crypto key for the wireless lan to use it. If I go and search for networks I find 6 in this particular area where I live, 5 are secure and 1 is not... one of the 5 secure is mine... so then I have to put in the crypto number to have access to my router...

You probably should find that out.

I should think that a network that is open for a whole hotel would be open to me too, but who knows. anyway, I'm back next friday, so who cares

Fun thing that. Last night my boss (34) tried to rape a 15 year old girl... or because it was her birthday, she turned 16 and became legal...

Hehe, I think the girl was hitting on me last night. How so? well, first she wanted to dance with me, after that I threw her into the pool, and then she threw me, and my handy broke down. That was fun. Then she kissed me when the boss was right there, and then she gave me her phone number and asked for mine. Which she then lost and told me to send her an sms today... which I can't do because she broke my phone. Anyway, she's gone back to Germany, better for her because of that idiot...

At least tomorrow I'm free. I'll go buy a new cell phone, and some red wine to drink. It's like the last three days on this bloody island, having been here for a whole month, and drunk everyday, for free, you see, it's an all-inclusive hotel. But a hell hole. Hmm, shame though, right now when I'm about to leave the place seems to be full of beautiful girls... well, you can't have them all :P...

What's in the day of an entertainer. nobody cares, eh? I playd luftgewehr schiessen today, that's shooting with airgun, a rifle etc. then Darts with the guests. Then waterpolo, and I just finished Football games with the children. Today we're having a Quiz for the guests, which is bound to suck knowing my boss and how he handles stuff. But before that, I'll be dancing minidisco with the kids. that's the best part in this job.

It's actually fun, the difference between cultures. As in, my partner, she's from Hungary. She is completely satisfied with having A job, while in Finland they teach me, if the work doesn't satisfy you in all cases, get a new one. Then the boss does idiotic things and just says,, yeah, but I'm the boss. Ok, so I toldf him You're shit, this work is shit, and you do nothing worthwile, so why the fuck are you here because we do the work better than you, and he said he's here because he's the boss. Though after that he's been a lot more quiet and helpful. But still a fuckface.

Oh, it appears my time is running out. Bis bald

I don't care if he's the most evil man in the world. It doesn't excuse your racist comments that i find offensive.

And.. if he RAPED her it's still illegal, unless where you are the law is really fucked up.

I don't see how your problems with your boss and your connection make a country deserve to be called "Fucked country". I have nothing against you, but this whole thread is quite irritating.

Many threads can be irritating.  Doesn't mean you have to read and/or respond to them.

But how will you know if they're irritating or not without reading them first?

You see certain people started it / were the last person to reply. Or a subject you had no interest in.

For example, if the title of the thread is something like, "Would Jesus prefer Casio or Texas Instruments? Discuss," then you can probably skip the thread.

Jesus probably sees eye-to-eye with me on this one, "I'm the son of God for Christ's sake!  I don't give a damn about graphing calculators or quadratic formulas. just as long as my TI-83 plus has a Draw() function!"
