Anyone seen "Saw"?

Maybe this doesn't need a thread about it, but in my current state of mind (just saw the film) I couldn't help myself. I have to say that is the most disturbing film I've ever seen, bar none. Shot in 18 days, with NO rehearsal whatsoever, the next best serial-killer-psychological-thriller since Seven (says I)... I can only wonder, what now? WHat can possibly be done next in the genre? You can't really get much more than this. In terms of acting, directing, photography, plot, soundtrack...

...but then, I bet everyone said the same about Seven. That's what's so fascinating.

On a side note, it'd have made a WEIRD (but great) adventure game. :=

I've got a friend who...saw it (Ba-dum CHING!) several days ago and he's still really freaked out from it.

Since this is the guy we call "Doom," the guy who redubbed Texas Chainsaw Massacre for a Multi-media project, the guy who normally actually LAUGHS at horror movies, I find this impressive.

Oh, you should. Impressive is ONE word for it, certainly. "Disturbing", "amazing", "disturbing," "unbelievable" and "nerve-wrtacking" (did I mention "disturbing"?) are other words that fit in well.

I 'saw' it, but wasn't very impressed. It was okay, but nothing special. My favourite horror of the year is The Grudge, although i've seen from other threads that not many of you share my opinion on that!

Yep I saw it a couple of days ago, on dvd. I think they where aiming at a sequel when they decided the bad guy should live, which I hope they release. I remember seeing seven a LONG time ago, but I still remember something from it (I think it was about this guy who wanted to commit the seven deadly sins).

I thought this film already had a thread, back when it was at the cinema.
If there is, chances are, LGM started it.

Hopefully i'm renting it this weekend. it looks awsome. =D

I found it to be 'average'. The story was pretty intricate but the acting was pretty woeful for most part. I dont think this comes close to seven, its more of a clever film than a good one.

Re acting - funny bit of trivia, the film was done with NO rehearsing at all. The actors just... did it.

Maybe that's one of the reasons I found the film so realistic...? I don't know. But realistic it did look, to me at least.

What's THAT supposed to mean? That I have good taste in cinema?

That's... not really a good excuse, though, is it?

Anyway, I've seen the film and enjoyed it.
I wouldn't say I was "impressed" with it. "Seven" is definitely better. But it is an entertaining film and I would probably watch it again.
I thought the acting was horrible, but I never expect much from horror-ish films.
Even though this one's more of a thriller.

That being said, my opinion might have been different if my friends wouldn't have told me:
Spoiler
About Elwes's charecter cutting his own foot off. I knew it was going to happen, and basically sat through the whole film wondering, "hmm... When's he going to cut his foot off?".

Probably ruined the film a bit for me, but as I said, it was still a fun film to watch.

Not an excuse at all, just a very, very curious fact. I liked the acting, but that's just me.

Though I AM curious now, what's the general opinion about the acting?

And yes, AL_Ninio, I'm sure that ruined the film for you. ::)

Funny you post this today, because I just SAW it last night!

I thought it was interesting, but then it got stupid toward the end...

I think it's an amzaing movie. Keeps surprising you. I love how you slowly get more info but everytime you tink youre on to what's going on you realize you're wrong. And then in the end when you find out who was the guy who did it it was awesome because it was right there under your nose yet you couldn't think about it. Amazing.

Liked it. Thought it was one of the better movies of this type out in a while. It was a sort of cross between "Seven" and "Cube" in a lot of ways, and I thought they pulled it off okay.
