It was okay, better than I expected. But the acting was only so-so. The ending, was interesting, but not mind-blowing. While I probably would never have guessed the killer, in a way I found it was far too unbelievable. It was a very fakish movie to me, which granted it was a horror film, but there just seemed too many inconsistencies with real life.

Spoiler
for instance, the killer let that hospital guy do some of his work. The question I have to ask, is why the guy didn't just go to the police? There were many other things I could complain about, but I accepted it for what it was.  A movie...not bad, but I never would have the need to see it again.

My b/f and I watched it right after it came out on DVD.  We both thought it was good, but neither of us thought it was as scary as everyone said it was.  We went into it thinking we were going to be scared out of our minds... but we weren't.  Granted it was disturbing, and the concept did freak me out a bit.  Well actually, I was more scared by it than he was.  Mostly because when I watch a movie like this, I tend to put myself in the situation, and I probably would have died!  But it only freaked me out for about a day, and I was over it.  I've seen other movies that freaked me out for months, so this one wasn't quite as scary.   I mean... I was more scared by Dawn of the Dead... mostly because I this weird zombie fear.  I mean, the movie itself was kind of crappy, but there's something about zombies that just freak the heck out of me.  I could watch the cheesiest, stupidest worst made zombie movie ever, and it would still freak me out to no end!... anyway, back on track..

It was a different roll for Elwes for sure!  I mean, wow.  I was skeptical about him being in it (since the two movies I really know him for are Princess Bride and Liar LIar, and he's kind of a pansy in both)  But I thought he did a decent job.

The movie had me fooled though.  For some reason, I thought for sure that Glover was the killer... I thought it was going to be some kind of split personality thing, and he had an accomplise or something.... I guess that would have been too cliche.  Oh well.
The hardest thing in this world... is to live in it. (Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy Summers in "The Gift")

I haven't seen it yet, but I fully intend on renting it.

Why, you ask? Not because so many people like it, and think it's disturbing/scary, but because my brother saw it in the theatres, and said it was so terrible. Apparently, according to him, the acting got so bad that he actually starting laughing at the screen while in the theatre, which caused the entire theatre to burst into laughter.

Man, that's the kind of movie I like to see!
I make music.

LGM

The acting isn't horrible, but it's obviously not well-rehearsed. Like it was said earlier, the film was shot rather quickly and probably with horrible time-restraint issues. (Meaning no time for thousands of takes, re-shoots and so on)

Rent it because it's a good movie in a time when bad movies are by the dozen.

What's THAT supposed to mean? That I have good taste in cinema?

I meant that you watch a lot of films, and that most of the film threads I've noticed, were started by you.

As to your taste in films, "good" is a word that could be debated ad nauseum.  Everyone thinks they're taste in films is the best one.  It's like asking someone their fave color.  It's pointless.

My favourite horror of the year is The Grudge, although i've seen from other threads that not many of you share my opinion on that!
I watched the trailer for the original Grudge movie and it freaked the absolute crap outta me. The remake is just flat.
As for Saw. I have not yet seen it but plan too. Waiting for DVD release.

There are just as many bad movies now as there ever where in the history of film, and there's just as many good movies, time is an illusion, cultural progression doesn't exist, and we are alone in the universe.
