It doesn't need much introduction, what festivals are you attending this year?
I'm only going to one, in the UK - SONISPHERE!!!
Yes yes any of you on Facebook will know I'm 100% hyped about it, and mildly drunken too :P
Sonisphere is a Metal festival in Knebworth UK, the bands I'm most interested in seeing are Metallica, Machine Head, mastodon, lamb of god, fear factory & anthrax. The first four are all on Sunday, so I hope they don't clash :/
Let me know if you're going! Many of my friends are going to Download this year and there's been a big inter-people argument about which is the better metal fest...Download looks awesome but it just seems that little bit tamer this year. Anyone going, let me know!
Despite living 6 miles from it I won't be going to Reading. But what festivals, UK or international, are you attending - and to see who??
:)
I have plans to go to Ann Arbor Summer Festival (http://www.annarborsummerfestival.com/) to see Pink Martini (http://www.pinkmartini.com) next month :D
It's in Michigan so I don't expect many if any of you lot to go :P
The Ann Arbor Summer Festival is an exhilarating celebration of performing arts, outdoor entertainment, and community spirit. Each year, this three-and-a-half-week cultural and social event offers dozens of performances, activities, screenings, and more, with eclectic music, dance, comedy, film, visual arts, and family fun.
Glastonbury :)
Really gutted that Blur and Prodigy are apparently clashing on Sunday night :(
Want to go to Bestival too but my funds are low. There's also a festival in Brighton that sounds pretty neat and within cycleable distance. Man, so many festivals, so little time :(
Two maybes. One being the Where The Action Is-festival in Stockholm to see The Pixies and Nick Cave (even though the best seeds are long gone) and the second being Benicassim in Spain. Especially to see Magazine & Gang of Four.
As I didn't have a job yet before the tickets sold out, I've been forced to forfeit on this year's A Campingflight to Lowlands (http://www.lowlands.nl/english.php), which actually has a really good lineup this year.
So instead I'll be doing another 24-hour comic with 3 friends that weekend, and we'll call it OMGRawk 2009, edition 3 ;)
I'm a bit of a Reading veteran with 6 Carling Weekends under my belt, but this year I'm hoping to attend Brittens, which clashes with Reading, so I'm going to do Download instead. It's slightly more metal for my personal tastes, but the line-up (http://www.downloadfestival.co.uk/lineup/index.aspx) was still enough to tempt me.
And I'm staying with a friend who lives 30 minutes away from the site, so rather than camping, I'll have a decent sofa to sleep on and a daily shower...
I'm not nearly cool enough to go to a music festival.
Want to go to Rockness and Wicker Man.
Funds will probably stop me going to either.
Provo Utah has the US's dibs on Independence Day Festival, which is pretty fun. (Including the Stadium of Fire, but I'm not going since I have no interest in the Jonas Brothers)
~Trent
Bergen metal fest in Norway :D
This is the only festival I'm interested in: http://www.myspace.com/summerhorrorday
I WAS CONCEIVED ON A BED OF NAILS!
Yeah? We joining in? We're all joining in right?
I WAS CONCEIVED ON A BED OF NAILS!
T in the Park! YAY! ;D
Did anyone else go to Download?
It was Awesome!!!
High chance you bumped into the girl I love, yeah! But just as much high chance you never did :P Fuck download! SONISPHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who's the girl you love?
Is she about yay high, has a certain hairstyle and walks like this?
Yeah, I shagged her... ;)
Yes, that's her! C**t!
;D
I was at Sauna Open Air (http://www.sauna-open-air.fi/) which was fun, though not as much fun as last year. Not my top favourite bands but a lot of good ones and fun company. Identify the cult person? (http://www.metalshots.com/2009/2009-06-05_SaunaOpenAir_Tampere/slides/Sauna_0084.html)
Hehe, Pete! :D Looking distinctively metal, too! :=
