Title: Best year of your life
Post by: Oliwerko on Tue 09/10/2007 20:56:35
OK, one more thread like this, this time about looking back in life.

I know that there are people of all ages here, and I want to ask which year of your life do you consider the best and why. I mean not the date, but what age were you in that year. So ?

For me, it is this year so far, I am 17 and I like my life as it is. So far as I am +/- healthy ( one bone operation on October 29th, but nothing else I hope ) and I reeeeaaaly love it.

And you ?

The year was 1993, when I started University. Looking back now, I think it was a great time- still young enough to think you can achieve everything, but old enough to stop looking like pimple cheesecake.  ;)

Hmmm.. It has got to be this year...  My Japan trip didn't go exactly according to plan, but it was still a five-month holiday in a country I have always been fascinated by.  I climbed Mount Fuji, went to the Fuji Rock Festival, made some great friends, learned a lot about myself and became a much more confident individual.

But That was only 5 months so if I can say that my best year ends at mid-August (my last month in Japan was a tad depressing actually), then I can say that the year begins at mid-August '06... this is prfect because then I can include Reading Festival 2006 which was the best of the six Readings I have been to.

Every single day is the best year of my life. Mostly because I've got a bad case of persistent memory loss, and I tend to forget anything from before I woke up in the morning.

I don't know, most of my years have been full of crap and angst. 2004 - 2005 was good because I found AGS and joined the community in the end of 2004. That was quite some exciting time. But then again my personal life wasn't so bright at that time.

I think the best years were those when I was just a kid and lived as my best friend's neighbour. Can't recall the exact years. I used to visit him very often and play adventure games with him and write stories and play. :D Great times those were. That was also the time when I actually managed to finish something I started.

After that I became all pessimistic and emotionally incompetent when I realised how stupid life is. (http://koti.mbnet.fi/paapeli/rsmiley/shifteye.gif)

Every year is better than the previous. I develop in various areas, I get more personal freedom, I get more authority and am met with more respect, feel more self confident.
Although I miss my first few years of Uni, with all the new friends, all the parties and less concerns about tomorrow.

I have a feeling that the year 2009 will be the best when all this shit is way gone and new shit is knocking at my door. Well, at least things will be very different then, and I like changes, at least at this point where everything seems to be shit.

It's funny though, this year was/is the army year so there's no chance there'd be anything good with it. However, it seems to go, that all the good things and bad things happen at the same time, and, like me, I've got a date in a few hours, or not exactly, me and my gf are going shopping, so I just can't think of the bad things. Then when I really think of it, it does all suck quite a lot, even to the extent of opening at least 5 self-suffering threads per year :D

This year's looking pretty sweet, for no real particular reason. I guess I'm just glad to be finally out of the house, although the uncertainty of the future concerns me a little bit. Everything's looking good otherwise.

The year in which I die will be the best.

Life is too crappy and shit to enjoy it.

Wow, this is cruel. I have to admit that someone has better life and someone worse one, but is it so bad to say this ?

Actually I don't think anyone has a better life. If I had a choice between anyone else's life and mine I'd choose mine any day, I was just saying life in general is crappy and it's such a cruel world that I don't think anyone should be able to enjoy themselves with all the evil and bad shit that's around these days.

It's just a pessimistic viewpoint on my part :/

2001 was, for me, THE YEAR OF HELL!!

I split with my (Crazy) girlfriend, was bullied out of a job, and worse of all my grandma passed away.

This year, by comparison, must be THE YEAR OF HEAVEN!!

I got a job managing a game store, I met the girl of my dreams (6 months and counting), although my grandma didnt rise back from the grave I must say. However I've never been more content and happy before in my entire life, even if my hair has started to recede.  :o

Zor: When my life was so bad I wanted to end it all, I never wished anyone else unhappiness. If they were happy, good for them. So now I am happy, I shall not think about all the bad things in the world, that will do me no good, nor anyone else.

If I find myself in Leicester, Matt, I'll find your store and be an awkward customer.

What's one more awkward customer?  ;)

I should point out incase it's not clear, it's GAMEWORLD, not Game. Small indie store (thats big in size), not the evil "Game" stores. Ooookay!

I miss the days when other people cooked for me, changed my nappies, and let me stay up past 9pm sometimes on Fridays.

2003. No reason in particular other than nothing went wrong. No one I know died that year, my car didn't break, no unexpected expenses, nothing out of the ordinary at all. I've had years when I accomplished much more than I did that particular year, but it remains the only year I can remember when everything went according to plan.

Sounds boring, I know, but the older I get, it seems every year brings something unpleasant / sad to be overcome. 2003 was just smooth sailing for some reason. Wouldn't want every year to be that way, but 2003 was a nice change of pace.

And to think, this is the first thread I've replied to in AGES. And I have 2003 to thank for that too! It's like 2003 is still paying dividends for me! Yay, 2003! You're the best year ever!
