Howdy.
I've thought about proposing a comp idea for awhile, and then i thought of the simplest, most easy comp possible.
A coloring comp.
I imagine this:
each week/fortnight, a black and white pic is supplied.
And here's where those vital skills learned in kindergarten come in handy.
The entrants color the images in a program like MSPaint/PhotoShop, and whichever is deemed best hosts the next one.
There'll also be a "theme".
For example: draw this picture, in 70's style groove colors etc.
Comments and ideas appreciated.
Cheers,
-Fluke.
I like the idea, though the lack of creative license could kill it off pretty quickly. Definitely not with too many specifics as to coloring method. I can't see someone wanting to submit a good B&W work on a regular basis, but maybe a once-in-awhile thing like the Helm compo. It'd be best, in my opinion, if the initiator were PM'd with image links and released them on a given day, winner or not it'd be interesting to see people's takes on something without influence from other entries.
Well, there wouldn't be too many color restrictions.
The theme mentioned in the top would be more a suggestion than a limitation.
Although it would probably be funny having a medieval picture coloured 70's style.
And by 'funny,' I mean weird.
I don't think the competition would work on a regular basis, I agree with TheYak here. But, yeah, it's worth a shot, I'd say--although I myself might not be able to take part.
Just my 2 cents.

something like this? http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=25073.0
Yes, I agree. This sounds fairly similar to the "From concept art to functional background" competitions we have. I like them and I would like to see it come up once a month or so.
How would once a month sound?
