Hi i was wondering if i can get permission to host this competion in the forums:
Draw a castle with two towers and a keep. You may draw as many townsmen/guards as you want. All entries must contain grey (the castle walls).
Size: Any but under 400 by 400
Colours: Any
So what do you thing guys (the description is just a briefing by the way)
This is just like the Background Blitz competition.
Sorry, but I don't think this is going to work.
Yeah you could enter the bg blitz win it and host the next one with your set of rules....
Why?
If you want us to draw a castle for you just ask
I dont need you to draw a castle for me, i can draw my own. (probably be better :P)
How about a swimsuit competition: everyone has to post a picture of themselves in a bikini?
What if some one axidentally posts a picture of a naked fat man?

Don't worry. I won't post my picture.

Then the AGS community would dissasemble....
What do you want us to say? You just need to do essentially what kaaZ said. This isn't anything special, nor ongoing, so why would it be its own seperate competition.
Like, I was hoping as I was reading your very brief description, that we could import the bgs into a type of "Worms" game, and we could blow up each others bases, but no, this is just a Background Blitz to be.
Can you do that?
Well, I do have another suggestion. I don't find it needed to open a new topic for it, so I post it here.
How about a competition with 3D modelling. We could make it similiar to the sprite jam, and the winner says the topic. It could be adventure related, like "make a model of guybrush", or "make your favorite adventurebackground in 3d".
It could be called "Cup3D Activity" or something similar...
hmm.... might work, but you should just make it for characters not backgrounds too.
Nice idea Minimi, but how many AGS-ers does actually fiddle with 3d graphic?
Quite many actually. Not me though
All graphic activities can have 3D modelling as a part of the premises, we don't need a new activity.
We have pretty many activities going on at the moment, please settle with them until you have come up with something fairly original.
We could make an animation or sprite ripping competition!
How would you judge a sprite ripping contest?
Animation isnt a bad idea, but you could always animate a sprite jam entry
Or what i suggest is i create an image in the biggining and tell them to animate it.
Also an off topic question: I was hoping on making a short sam and max game, but i cant find any sprites. I dont have the game so i cant rip them.Anyone here know?
in basic these are all ways for people to do art for you????
How about a "suckiest competition idea" competition?

Nah
Tanker, I kind of get the impression you are not bothered about setting up a good competition, you just one to set one up period.
As far as I can see, you just want people in years to come to think "Hey! That's Tanker! He set up generic competition 217! He is so cool!" regardless of what the actual content of that competition is. I mean, all the suggestions so far are ideas that are pretty much implementable (is that a word?) into the current competitions, such as the Sprite Jams or Blitzs.
If you come up with a good original idea for a competition then hey! share with us, but until then, I think it would be best if you just tried to compete in the ones we already have.
I already tryed to compete in them, but i get the feeling that they are not giving me a chance to win because everyone hates me.I mean come look at the last sprite jam, i didnt even make it to the selection screnn.I spent hours on that one.
Did you SEE that sprite jam? That was probably one of the best we have had in ages. The overall quality was amazing, & the judge had to make their choice. They made a choice based on quality of the sprites, not on who made them. Just work on your spriting skills, you'll be winning them in no time.
I think, on the whole, these activities are not about winning anyway, more about practising the skills needed to make a game.
And just because you lose once doesn't mean you should try & start a completely new competition. Imagine if a football team did that every time they lost a match.
Hope you see what I mean.
so what... just admit your not the best artist, and practice some more. They are for fun, not for winning. That's absolutely no reason for not liking you. Just practice more and more. I'm right now already doing 10hours about a 3D render in Wings3D of my room, something that someone else does in a few hours. What the heck... I'm practising, and no-one ever said drawing was easy and quick.

Where do I start? If people "hate" you then you have to ask yourself who's fault that is. The people round here don't just decide to post negative replies etc to people for nothing.

Hmm, I havn't seen your entry so maybe this isn't fair but to me it sounds like you think your god's gift and in reality you're nowhere near.
Please don't take this post to mean I "hate" you (it'd take a lot more than a few immature posts on a forum for me to hate anybody). You just need to start acting more mature, realise you're not the best.
That's my two pence worth anyway...
thats so stupid 'I didnt win, everyone else cheated' or 'I didnt win, its soo unfair'
Its a competition... the point is too compete, not to select everyone as the best.
Yea your right, i am feeling that my art is improving.I dont have to win everytime and i know im not the best (i mean i just got here).
