When I first joined the server it kept crashing after a few minutes with Java null pointer errors. Fixed that by setting my draw distance to normal (it was far). Since then it's been perfectly stable apart from freezing on me once, which was fixed by restarting the program.

Do you always get the same error?

Calin Leafshade

I'm afraid that Minecraft Multiplayer is very buggy at the moment but as 1$ said if you set the view distance to normal (press the f key to cycle) it seems to solve 99% of the problems.

I'm hoping that the halloween patch will fix alot of those issues.

I can't seem to be able to connect to the server. Is it down or is it just my end?

The only person in favour of the mobs seems to be IndieBoy.. but he's scottish so we dont listen to him anyway.

Haven't been able to connect myself for a few hours, I get a timeout when logging in. I assumed it was just me and took it as an excuse to be more productive elsewhere, heh, but must be a bigger problem then=S

Calin Leafshade

Sorry about that. The server had a fit and died.

Should be back up now.

I just had to get a quick look before the reset....good God. There's some impressive stuff going on in there.

Wow that's huge, no wonder I couldn't find my humble little castle! I've managed to find it on the map though: smack bang in the centre of all the rivers and lakes on the main landmass with an almost visible giant 'S' that I built nearby to help me find it. It's actually not quite as out in the wilderness as I thought it was. Amazing how a change of perspective alters things=)

IndieBoy

So the map is constantly generated while we play? So if someone walks in a straight line for ages we would have a very long map if we use the cartographer? If that isn't the case then I thought we could do a before and after kind of thing.

That does seem to be the case yea.

I carto'd the new map a couple of times and it does seem to be dynamic in that sense.

There is a setting in the server setup where you can limit the over-all range of the map to prevent those with wanderlust from making the map HUGE like that!

My brother plays on a server where they all decided to concentrate on a certain area (to begin with) and some guy got lost and didn't know the "/home" function so he wandered for hours and their carto-map ended up being 90mb and had this insane peninsula branching off of their main area.  None of them want to reset their server as they've spent weeks building their stuff so they're stuck with it.

But exploring and getting lost is half the fun!

That's why one of the mods should make a chest by the spawn point with tons of compasses in it. :P

Great carto!  Yes, it was me who took the unnecessarily long walk up there.  I thought it was all going in one direction, but apparently I took a 90 degree turn in there.  You can see the island up there where I built the Shrine of XII and later where I ran out of torches so started lighting trees on fire so I could see.  :)  Sorry if that caused strain on the server!

Cool to see all the sweet buildings.  I see some structures that I wish I had checked out like the big docks.

Fun!

Dave Gilbert

Yikes, I had no idea that the AGScraft world so so huge! Amazing stuff, guys.  I wish I had seen half of those buildings.

It's interesting how involving the game is when you're on a server.  I tried doing the single-player and there didn't seem much point.  I really like being able to see what other people are making, and having them see the buildings I make (crappy though they might be!)

Arboris

ohh, thanks for the isometric cartograph render! :D it's huge
