I rented this movie after a trailer I downloaded.
anyone ever seen this movie?
it's about a world where thoughts and feelings are controlled by clerics, all art forms are destroyed and everyone accused of feeling gets the death penalty (pretty boring) then one of the clerics starts feeling though he doesn't know why and eventually even takes on the the empire (wich is pretty much everyone else) great action scenes and a nice ending follow :)
at first I found the world in witch it takes place to unreal and I figured they didn't spend much time thinking about it, then after some very interesting plot turn this movie became interesting, with breathtaking action sequences (very matrix-like) and some interesting character developments this movie was actually fun to watch
I should certainly recommend it if you're bored one night :)

I've seen it. finally a good matrix-wannabe that doesn't use slo-mo action. that's not as cool as people think it is
It's ripped off a Kubrick film, with some heavy George Orwell influences. It's not bad, it's just nothing outstanding is all.
Fahrenight 451 was a Kubrick film? News to me.
Pretty much everything is derivative of something or other, nowadays, though; personally I think that evolution is just as valid a form of progress as revolution, if not as distinguishable and rarely as successfully executed (which, personally, I don't think Equilibrium was, that much).
The tag of "Matrix Wannabe" is extra derogatory when there is a lack of anything bearing resemblence to initiative of originality in the first film.
I saw this movie a few weeks ago, and i thought it was a welcome change from all the matrix style action. The action scenes were cleverly thought out and were pretty simple.
I liked the ending with the swords :P. If you have seen it you know what i mean ;)
las: you're 100% right
Flippy: I don't know of any Kubrick film equilibrium could be a rip of from.
Tier: I personally liked the very last fight the best, the kung fu with guns fight ;D
Guess I must be wrong about the Kubrick thing. My bad.
Aye, you mean Truffaut.
I prefer Balzac et la petite tailleuse chinoise (Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress), though -- Similar themes to Equilibrium and both were released the same year, but Balzac had more heart to it.
