why are you compairing two softwares that do totally different things/? you comment that AGS isnt that good a program for programmers to use. For some reason looking in the game section on this website at the couple hundred games made with AGS i beg to differ. however what id like to point out was pointed out in the last past titled very poorly "WTF!!!" . You seem to be trolling in here. just incase you didnt know what he meant by it seeing as how your still doing it, it more or less means that your looking to start fights. A forum for a certain product is usually the home of the products fans. you should know this since its the same for EVERY product. If my as a vray user (its a 3d rendering progran) went into the forum for brazil (another 3d rendering program) and said their product sucks. what do you think the outcome would be. Or goodness forbit an AGS fan went into a gamestudio forum and said the same. noooooo. thats not right. So please. stop trolling, oh and if a topic gets locked it means its over, choose to start a topic about fluffy buny rabbits the next time. Dont pick up where the last one left off. This topic specifically directed towards scotch should have been sent as a PM and not as a post on the forum.

spikey, I think I should let you know that there are no FOREGOs this year, so your late entry into the "worst n00b" competition is wasted...

Well since you are being relatively polite...

I use AGS because simply I'm working on an adventure game. AGS performs all the tasks that game needs perfectly well, which would make me or the person I'm working with scripting all the necessary AG parts (AG characters, pathfinding, GUI systems, etc etc) kind of redundant.

I still do use GM... lots of people use it Ã, for prototyping (mostly action) game ideas, even my game design lecturer is a big fan, it's especially nice for that. I wouldn't usually decide to use it for a full game these days because it doesn't really take much more effort to code a game in a "proper" language for me anymore, and it'd be more efficient and portable that way.

I can't really see why you'd draw such direct comparisons personally... AGS is ideal for making point and click adventures in the early 90s style. GM was made as a tool to help people to learn to make games in a quick and easy fashion, it's geared towards action games but not any particular game mechanic, so you need to script a lot of basic gameplay code before anything comes out. Different approaches, both have their uses...

Wow someone finally caught on. Its not so much a fight Im looking for, but some controversy. In case you dont know controvesry sells.(so does sex, but thats off topic...)

Please welcome to the stage SSH, the comedian!!!
(What a loser.....) ;D

Nacho

I think I should warn you before you go on using "comedian" as something "controversial".

SSH is a professional scottish comedian, so, it' s not going to be controversy here.

I agree with you in the other topics.

You want controversy? That can mean one of two things.

1 - You want to spark a healthy conversation about the pros and cons of using AGS vs any other engine.

2 - You want to start a fight just because.

Some of your posts have an underlying of 1. All of them radiate 2.

Please think before posting. I'm actually having fun with this, especially Nacho's replies, but don't think anyone is taking you seriously in the least. Well, anyone except scotch, because he's a regular all-around cool guy who's über patient.

I wasn't joking.

Anyway, since you practically admit to being a troll, I don't see any point in any of your threads. Perhaps you should re-read the forum rules, especially the part about respecting others.

I can totally realize that scotch is a cool guy. Also I think that if someone went and started some controversy at gamemakergames.com it would be welcomed. I also am subscribed there and know some of them, and think they might enjoy a good argument. In fact, I urge someone to go start some controversy there, because quite frankly it is getting boring. That is why I came here.

Rui 'Trovatore' Pires

How old *are* you?

Barely 16 as of january 3. But no seriously will someone go to the gamemakergames.com forum?

Rui 'Trovatore' Pires

I'm not surprised. Ok, I'm stepping out of this conversation now.

Since you say you did want to stir things up for the hell of it, even after people address your points sensibly, and since you clearly haven't used AGS to any great extent (and judging from your Game Maker forum posts, you haven't got a lot of experience with that either), I don't see any point in letting the "controversy" unfold. Any more continuation threads will be deleted. I think that's fair enough...

The thing about the Game Maker forums is that people are generally a lot younger than here, and there are a large amounts of silly, childish threads. It's unfortunate, and there are of course a lot of good people there. But (I'm hoping) not many people here want to argue about such petty things just for the fun of it...
