Are any of you noticing a 'slow-down' in the speed of the AGS forums?
Is the new server just slower than the old one?
Here's what I'm noticing ...
- When I hit 'Post' it just hangs up. I have to hit stop and refresh. Sometimes the message makes it into the thread, sometimes not.
- Navigation takes a long time and sometimes never makes it. Meaning I click a link and it just hangs up and doesn't get there.
This isn't constant, but frequent.
If it's a simple matter of a slower server that's cool, though unfortunate. However, the server transition of the forums coincided with my computer upgrade, so I just want to make sure it's not something with my computer (still working out some of the kinks of a self-built computer).

I've noticed the hangup on clicking links, I haven't had a problem with submitting replies though.
I've noticed. I've had some problems with it too, like pages taking a long time to load, or having to click a link a second time.
But, I thought it was just something wrong with my computer.
I've had very very very minor problems, but I think it IS my computer...
I've only ever had to re-click a link about twice, and I've never had trouble posting. And I've never had hang-ups....
guess I'm lucky...
Yeah, i've noticed the slow down too. It is mostly when either trying to get on to the forum or switching pages within the forum itself. I've never really seen it when posting anything though.
I really didn't notice it that much before, but now it seems to be constant, no matter what computer i am using.
Yeah, its been on-and-off for the last couple of weeks. It seems fine most of the time, but it seems to go through phases of an hour or so where it's really slow.
At the bottom of all forum pages, it says how long the server took to create the page - this is normally less than 1 second, but lately I've had pages take 30-40 seconds to be generated.
I'm hoping it's just a temporary thing which will go away, but if it seems to be becoming permanent I might have a word with the web hosts.
Take C.Leksutin with you.
Go on, you know you want to, just to see exactly what it looks like.
I also noticed this as well. It has been better since I switched to Mozilla/Foxfire browser which allows me to block images hosted on slow servers such invisfreeanomizer, 2dadventure, etc. That's one of the reasons why I complain so much about gigantic and animated sigs.
Foxfire has helped me quite a bit; if you're frustrated enough it may be worth a try.
Well I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. More so that it's not something wrong with my new computer!

I've been using Foxfire for just a little bit now ... didn't know about the blocking things. I'll give it a try! Thanks!

The ad-blocking thing is an Extension. (http://texturizer.net/firefox/extensions/) Look for 'Adblock' in the list I just linked... And yeah, it does help a whole lot. Just block all Anonymizer addresses and your forum load-times will be cut in half.
