Caligari recently released gameSpace Light (http://www.caligari.com/gamespace/default.asp) (gSL), a free edition of their game graphics authoring software, designed to introduce independent game developers, students and hobbyists to their software without having to fork over the $300 for the full version.Ã, It contains most of the features found in the full version, but has some limitations on polys and watermarks renders.
There's a game developer's talent competition (http://www.caligari.com/gamespace/gsL/contest.asp) for users of gameSpace, too, if anyone's interested.
I already have their trueSpace. I'm not really happy with it though, I'm not a 3D savy person but I'm still not happy.
If I'm not mistaken, gameSpace doesn't produce standalone games, only Quake and UT exports. Everywhere I looked on their web site, that's all I saw: mentions of Quake and Unreal Tournament, and I don't care much for making things for those games. DOES gameSpace create standalone games, like AGS does? If so, I'm all for it.

Hehe.. I guess this has been overdone, but BLENDER DOES!
What? I thought Blender was just a 3D program. This is the first I've heard of this.
Blender sucks.

Blender has a lot of features most of you probably don't know about.. The game engine was only recently re-integrated though. The last version that was released before they went GPL had a game engine, but couldn't be put under the GPL license because the physics engine was written by a person who didn't/couldn't give up the rights. You could still download the old version for free and use its game engine, but finally they programmed a new physics system and integrated it into the last version (2.33). It's a bit buggy with older gaming tutorials, because they tried to make it backwards compatible but missed the mark with some infinite loops.
If you have broadband I'll send you some playable games, I have a really good one room MI demo. It's the best looking one I've seen graphically.. most of them suck because the game models are all made by amateurs (in some cases, extreme amateurs). It's akin to MS Paint AGS games. ;)
/me goes dig up 3D design plus from his pile of old softwares instead.
Sure, send it over! If you have AIM, I'm on, otherwise email it to terranrich82@yahoo.com
