hey,

i just had the idea for some reason the other day to go to the last page on the completed games announcements page and have a look at the advance of games from way back when, all the way up to the present day.

seriously, go do it, it's quite interesting to see the older games compared to the newer ones.  you can also get some ideas!

Exactly. Some early games, like Vegetable Patch Extreem Turbo and its even weirder sequel are still very worth a playthrough.
