Title: I bought a few games
Post by: Minimi on Sun 21/09/2003 16:04:39
in the past days I had this illness to buy everything my eyes saw, and I figured to go search for some good pc adventure games.
I bought these titles:

Syberia - 19,99 euro
Grim Fandango - 14,99 euro
Crime Scene Investigation - 24,99 euro

Im wondering if the games are any good. Crime scene investigation is in my opinion pretty easy... and syberia is amazing beautifull, but i hadn't much time to play it.
For Grim Fandango reminded it me on lba2, and im enjoying it, but what do you think of these games, and did you played them?

Now, I haven't played either Crime Scene Investigation or Syberia, but I have played GF, perhaps far too much, and I can safely say that YES - It is good! :)

Grim Fandango is probably one of the few games that has actually made me truly unhappy when finishing it. Not because I disliked it, or because it was a bad ending or something like that - I was because (And I know a lot of others feel like this as well) I had become so attached to the characters that I indeed felt sad when I realized that it was over. There was no more game to play. No more Manny, no more Meche, no more Glottis. That just gave me an empty feeling, a feeling which I usually don't get when finishing a game.  I still to this day, perhaps two years since finsihing the game for the first time, can't really put my finger on exactly what it was that did such an impact on me.

To conclude my geeky, emotional, caffeine ramblings - Grim Fandango is one hell of a game - Play it or be a rectangular thynge.

Grim Fandango is without a shred of doubt a masterpiece of game creation, and the most emotional title for me, together with Planescape: Torment. A good good choice!

Grim Fandango kicks the ass.  This is highly arguable, but I consider it the greatest adventure game of all time.

Syberia is quite pretty, although it has NOTHING on GF.

I'm not familiar with CSI.

hmmm... i guess I payed too much for grim fandango ;) Though I find it also a fun to play game. I'm right now in the forest, and im pretty stuck... but im sure i'll find a way out.

Ohw and for those that are interested. CSI sucks! It's the most easy adventure game ever. I read an interview with the creators of it, and they said they were affraid that people were too dumb to play it, so they made it very easy. Well... if your making games so easy... then you are really killing adventures. The game does have some nice graphics and fun things that gives you an idea of playing the X-Files game (if you know it)... but furthermore, it's far too easy and annoying, so dont buy it!

ok now im going to finish my mags game ;) ... greetz

Anyway, where do you people get these games? WHERE? *chokehold* Grim Fandago, I think that was a step forward in adventure gaming. Though... I didn't understand why they didn't use pre-rendered graphics, instead of the rendered. I never finished it, though. The others (never played)
