Hello guys!
I am probably moving to the UK in the following weeks... It's a bit like a "hippy trip", in the sense that I don't know where I will work. I have been told that "Inditex jobs" (A Spanish enterprise which owns Zara, Berska, Stradivarius, etc...) accepts Spanish workers with some level of English, and I know a girl who works there in human resources who told me that I will be hired, for sure. So, in a couple of weks I could be there.
Why do I do it? Well... After passing from the teen age to 30 without any major change I want to start living, London seems like a good start. The problem is that I don't know where will I live, how to move there, how to rent a house, etc...
I need help!
When I know more I would really appreciate information from people living in London... hey! Some of you might be there, willing to share the expenses of the rental with someone!
People from London, Chris, Nikolas, etc: Be sure I will try to make a visit to you!
Any other people from the Capital? Any important info I can use?

Summertime in London is some kind of season-long cycling festival, and the parks are full of people either keeping fit or people trying. Hyde Park and Regent's Park seemed especially busy when I was there this summer, and are dangerous for pedestrians because of this :P always having to keep on the lookout of speeding cyclists or aspiring footballers suddenly switching to dodge ball just as you are walking by and making you have to wait an extra 2 hours and 20 minutes at Victoria station because you had to blend into a tour group for a little bit and the worst part is you don't have a phone so the friend picking you up at your destination thinks you just stood them up >:(

Spleen is probably another one to ask about places to live since he lived there for a few years, and Magintz just moved into London as well but lived nearby his whole life so probably has some 'places to live' knowledge.

Hey buddy. Congrats on the move decision.
Apparantly London is great for cycling. My brother cycles all the time.
As for living... It's gunna cost you a lot. Sort out a job as soon as poss. If you don't have a lot of money to pay for rent, you will be living out in the outery suburbs. But it's pretty cool. I lived in Willesden Green and it was okay. Decent for the money we paid.
I'd recommend private renting through a newspaper or something, avoid estate agents. They will try to screw you over because you don't speak perfect english. Don't go near Foxtons, they a c**ts and WILL rip you off. I've had bad dealings with one called Black Kats. Not sure if they are still around. On a monday, try and pick up TNT magazine. It's a free magazine targeted at aussies and kiwis, but there are loads of property listings and job listings.
If you fancy moving out to the countryside and working in a pub, you can usually find live-in pub jobs (ie accomodation provided). Word of warning. You want a minimum of $200 a week after tax. Any less is illegal. They also can't charge you for food in that. This lady provides an excellent service, but sometimes it is hard to get through to her. http://www.livein-jobs.co.uk/

Funnily enough I'm also currently in the process of moving to London, and it can be a bit daunting at first because it's a huge place and it's hard to know where to start.
It's a big decision for you to move to a completely different country, but your English is great these days so you shouldn't have any serious language problems. As Layabout says, living in London is expensive, so you really need to know how much rent you can afford to pay before you can choose where to live.
Although I don't yet actually live in London, I'm more than happy to have a chat with you about the town if that would be useful.

CJ, if you get a place to live in, tell us. I will travel with a friend, so, 3 people for paying a rent could be a good thing...

eugh dont move to the UK, i hate it here. Im sick of the bad weather.
Id love to move to somewhere like Greece or Italy. Maybe even the states.
