Yep, thats right. I had bought one a while ago for $5 that didn't work, so now I went on E-bay and bought a drawing tablet for $17! It is the Jam Studio 7.5 in tablet, which comes with the pen and software.

Go on E-bay and do the buy it now, and you can get it for no more than $25 yourself. Massive improvement for me when drawing graphics. Check it out.

Cool deal man...Congrats...

I've got a wacom thingamajig, and I really enjoy it, so I know you'll probably enjoy yours too....

Maybe we should start an ags drawing tablet society?

heh...

I have a Jam Studio tablet that I got in a similar fashion. Unless they have updated the drivers recently, it doesn't work with XP. Otherwise, it's not too bad. I've found it's easier to work with a mouse, but you might have a better time with it.

I bought a Jam too.  It is possible to get drivers that work, but I cannot remember where I got them.  Real graphics tablets usually use a system like a touch pad or a Palm device, where the presure on the screen is what drives the cursor.  Not so with the Jam tablet.  Wave the pen a mm or so above the surface and it should move the mouse.  I thin if you like the Jam tablet, you should save up to get a GOOD tablet.  I hardly use my Jam, it was too jittery for me, since I am finnickyto a pixel when I draw.  You can trace with it though!

I have a 8x10 Aiptek. $115 for the tablet, pen, and mouse... The pen's 2nd and 3rd buttons dont work very well though... It works very well but you get too used to drawing with it and now I cant draw with a mouse... Very helpful though...  :)

Does anyone know of any decent midrange brands that have nicer features than a Jam (and are XP and 2000 compatible) but not so crazy as a Wacom, which is way out of my budget?

Wacoms look awesome, but they also seem so expensive  :-\

Graphire 2 at 3x5 size is about 100 bucks retail. I have two, I bought one from Walmart for 70 bucks. It's small, but its good.

I don't know what these other tablets are like, but I'm happy with mine. Link to my images is in my sig if you wanna take a look at what I manage to do with it. :)

They are industry standard for a reason. :P

Nice work, OTG.  I like your use of color  :)  Do you find that 3x5 is sufficient for your purposes most of the time?  And why do you have two?  ???

Thanks. :)

3x5 is good enough for me because I've never worked on anything but 3x5. But people do say the bigger ones are better.

I have two because I use one at home and one at work.

The Aiptek would be what I would go with. You can change the drawing area to as small as 1/2 x 1/2, but why you would want that is beond me. It is within price ranges for most people and it is very worth it. Not to mention that Best-Buy has cupons in the paper all the time. The website is www.aiptek.com. The name of the tablet is HyperPen 12000 I think... Well this has my pick...

Duzz

i'm getting an aiptek 12000 for my birthday tomorrow (yay!)
it looks like the best value for money one that i could find, it's big too.

2ma2

There's no bigger use in getting a tablet with larger area than an A6 paper. It might sound small but surely it'as big for most needs, and hey, if you paint using large swishy motions holding the pen like a fork, why use a tablet at all. Buy canvas, paint and hit the countryside! ;)

A wacom graphire 2 A6 is around 100$ here aswell. I've been saving money for some months now to afford one.

But for another $15, 2ma2,  you can get a bigger one AND a wireless mouse! Not to mention a bunch of software. One even has a huge animation helpfile with tons of movies to watch.
