Hellooo, I'm facing a strange computery problem that I experienced some time ago but really can't remember how I put it straight. Basically, certain websites use HTTPS pages, usually when its secure items or something. This includes my bank & my PayPal account. Now the strange thing is, I can get into my bank account online with no problem - but PayPal just won't load any of its HTTPS pages. Ive turned TTL and SSL setting thingies on and off but that hasn't made a difference, and played with my cookie settings. I've tried it in IE and MyIE - but same results. If anyone has any ideas on how to solve this I'd be greatful - because I haven't been able to find much about it on google!
Er... Firefox?
well that's not really a solution is it.
i had similar problems a while ago when i got my modem/router, the problem seemed to stem from the router's hardware firewall conflicting with the software firewall (sygate), disabling the software firewall fixed it, but you'd probably notice if you'd bought a router lately so that probably isn't it.
the only other thing i'd suggest is make sure you're not using a proxy or some other such thing that would mask your ip.
trying it in another browser probably is the best idea to see if the problem still occurs then.
edit.
i just found this on google http://www.duxcw.com/faq/win/xp/secure.htm
and there's this long thread from the same site http://www.duxcw.com/yabbse/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=5351
Thanks boyd, no luck though. I'll keep trying stuff.
A few links to check out that may be of help in regards to your problem:
Going to the following link, try a registry fix that may work. On that web-page look for the registry-fix link on Line 68, on the Right-Hand side:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
(it should read: "Page Cannot be Found and/or DNS/Server Error")
Download the registry fix and double-click on it to run.Ã, You may need to re-start your computer for the new settings to take place.
Ã, Ã, Of course it's always wise to make a System-Restore checkpoint before making such changes or installing any files and/or making any registry changes and making any changes to your settings or installing any software is at your own risk. That being said, "Kellys-korner" is a well known and recommended "windows fixes & tweaking" site, and I've personally use some of the registry fixes and tweaks from that site with good success.
Your "Winsock" may also be corrupt. There a Winsock fix that you can try that might sovle the problem:Ã, http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4372.html
Ã, Ã, And, a couple of other related links that may help:

Ã, Ã, Good luck.
Edit: Oops, I forgot to ask what version of Windows you're running? That "kellys-korner" registry fix along with the info on some of the other links I think is meant only for Windows XP.
I had a problem like that before
Not sure if this is your case
But when I deinstaled NOrton Internet Security everything worked again
