Title: Reusing music for a game
Post by: Mouth for war on Fri 08/01/2010 13:40:10
Hey! Just want to hear what you think. I'm making a game and I have 2 seperate caveareas. Do you think it's ok to use the music from the first cavearea in the second too or should i make a completely new song? I can't decide hehe :)

I think as a creator of a game that's hard to judge. Look for playtester and ask them if the music is to repetetive or if it even changes too often.

I think it also depends on the pace, tempo and style of music.  If it is background, creepy, cave type music, I think it might be okay.  If it is upbeat, energetic, and theme-style music, I think maybe not.

In Murran Chronicles 3, I am using one background music track for all non-main screens.  IE: As you walk around town various screens will all play one long "walking" music loop.  The song is like 4 minutes long so it doesn't repeat often since each of the main screens have their own music, but you get the point.
