Title: Sleep apnea, UPPP surgery, cpap, and apap
Post by: Etcher Squared Games on Fri 11/03/2005 12:52:15
Greetings fellow gamers.
My name is Bryan, and I have Sleep apnea.

(crowd: "hello Bryan")

Anyway, I'm just curious who all out there has it too?
I've known that I have it for about a year now and have a cpap machine set to 13.Ã,  Recently, it has not been working well for me.Ã,  I just this past week switch to an apap machine set to avg 7, max 20.

So far, things still aren't looking good.
I was also wondering if anyone has had any surgeries for their sleep apnea, which surgery, and how well has it worked for you?

Any response is appreciated,
thank you

Our family friend had a similar surgery to cure his snoring.. I believe he had apnea aswell. So far he's a-okay. Haven't heard much about if it worked, but I do know the surgery was quite an experience.

My advice is to see a doctor.. :-p or go to http://www.webmd.com lol

Good luck

Oh I've seen the doc.  Surgery is a LAST CHOICE thing.  I just wanted to know who here has had it and if it worked well.

The UPPP has so much mixed literature about it on how well it works.  I have yet to see anything from someone who's had the "Standford Procedure".

anyone?  ;D

I have Sleep Apnea.  I use a CPAP.  I've had it since 1998, but since I lost a lot of weight, I don't always use it.  I used it for so long, it became second nature.  It's actually hard for me to fall asleep without it now - I need the soft wooshing sound.  It's like a fan.

I heard more about my friend. Yes, he had sleep apnea. He had the procedure. He was put under for a couple of hours while they operated.

I don't know exactly what they do, but I would assume it's similar to getting your tonsils removed.. But worse.

His voice is almost an octave lower now, and in recovery he STILL cannot eat solid foods... But he HAS watched lots and lots of movies.. And of course, he doesn't snore anymore.. Which means the apnea is more than less solved.

I hope that helps.
