Title: Sound Recording Help
Post by: remmies on Wed 06/07/2005 04:30:42
Does anyone know a program I can use to record sounds being played on my computer, I use pinnancle and i need to capture audio form this movie but i can, so a simple solution would be to get a capture program on my cpu to take the audio from a video already on my computer, so does anyone know a good program ???

If you can route your soundcard to record "what you hear" (or perhaps wav or something like that) in the main mixer, then you can just load up Audacity or other sound program at the same time. Hit record, then play the movie.

That's one way.  Another is to use a decoder that'll output separate streams.  TMPGenc is a free one that'll open up any video file you've got proper codecs for and will output (if desired) separate .mpg/.wav streams (albeit only mpeg-II out for a limited time, but mpeg-I always).  Virtualdub and virtualdubmod will also do this, but I haven't messed with either much.

Go to Volume Control (in the right, bottom corner), choose Preferences/Recording, and tick the Wave Out Mix.

I would suggest you using GoldWave.
