This thread is obviously a thread aimed at the couple (i think there's 6) forum members that are aussie, but i'm also interested in wondering whether other countries know about it?
For example, even though i am not american, i know that an american football event called the superbowl happens every year.
Incase not versed in the event, State of Origin is an annual National Rugby League match between two states of australia, New South Wales and Queensland.
Three matches take place, and the first one happened about 23 hours ago, and the blues(nsw) won.
So...three cheers for the blues.

Blues played ordinary, Queensland played terrible. If Origin is dying, it's down to canetoad mediocrity.

I actually agree with you there, it does seem a bit lackluster as opposed to a few years ago.
It's all new now with a lot of injuries and retirements, especially Joey, Finch played allright, did his job, but if Joey had decided to play, there would be no need for a field goal to win the match, cause they would have been up by 40 points
I totally agreed with something Fatty said tonight, QLD need to move Lockyer to fullback, Thurston to 5/8, can't remember who he had at halfback, but the point is, Lockyer is best fullback in the game and is not a 5/8, I still don't know why they persist with him there

Quality of the games, players and crowds goes up and down over the years, its probably in a rebuilding phase for both teams at the moment.

Origin lost all charm when Gorden Tallis retired.
It's an odd one, since all the QLD players and most of the NSW players, I don't known who the hell they are!
I have been out of the country for almost 2 years now, so thats kinda expected. But I hope QLD win. State pride I guess...
