Faster Than Light is a must for me, I wanted to play that for ages and it's only 5 bucks now.

That game *is* very good, and for 5 bucks it is a steal. I didn't get too much mileage out of it now, but each and every playthrough has been awesome.

Hey, so if anybody on Steam that isn't from Germany could buy Sleeping Dogs (make sure it does NOT say low violence version under the Steam game page video area, I want the regular standard version) in the next 5 hours and 30 minutes (where it is 75% off, at 6.25 euros or your regional equivalent) and gift it to me on Steam, I would give you 7.59 euros (or your regional equivalent) in the form of a paysafecard (which you can use on Steam for example). Getting the right version of Sleeping Dogs would be worth the extra buck to me.

Anybody up for that, please shoot me a PM!

Babar

Are you sure that would work, though? If you buy a game from one region and gift it to someone in another over steam, I get the feeling they get their own region version of the game- so for you it'd be the "low violence version".
At least that was the experience of my friend in Australia (which also has strange censorship laws with regards to games, I think).
The ultimate Professional Amateur

Now, with his very own game: Alien Time Zone

Hmm, really? Damn. "Somebody on the internet" suggested getting a person from outside Germany to buy the game and gift it to you as one way to get around the problem - but if you've tested this before. Oh well!

Ghost

No, it doesn't work that way. I tried getting the uncut version of Borderland1 that way, and it's really that Steam checks what version is "legal" for you. The gift is just "unlocking" your local version.

Just bought the original Deus Ex and System Shock 2, two legendary titles that I have played but not owned - for 6 bucks total. Now I'm waiting for Faster Than Light to maybe be reduced in price even further in the next flash sales. If it doesn't get cheaper by the 22nd when the Summer Sale ends, I'll just get it for 5 bucks anyways!

Can't wait to start summer vacation on the 26th and play my newly bought games! :)

Mati256

That same thing is happening to me right now with Batman: Arkham City.  >:(

Well the sale is nearning its end and I have not purchased anything. Yet. I have to change that and I can't decide. I like quantity. I'd rather buy half a dozen quirky little fun games (you know, casual indie stuff) than one big AAA title. Any recommendations? Anyone played Ms Splosion Man?

Hotline Miami (addictive!)
Surgeon Simulator 2013 (funny, and a little disturbing!)
Organ Trail
Half Minute Hero
Little Inferno
Sang Froid Tales of Werewolves (this is 66% off at the moment)
Sine Mora (great bullet-hell shooter)

All of the above are good. :)

After a few days where I bought zip, today was a day of twos for me.

Torchlight 2
Risen 2
Euro Truck Simulator 2

Hoorah for twos!

I should take SurgeonSim into consideration. Looks wonderfully sick ;)
I also dug up Children of the Nile (2,79) and the Alexandria expansion (0.79) ... good classic city building fun from the guys that made Pharaoh.
Yes, I am that old.

Also, congrats on Torchlight2. Good fun, that one, and the last boxed game I bought so far.

I HATE STEAM !!! (please note the use of extra exclamation marks.)

I wish it would just crawl off into some dark forgotten realm of the WWW and die!

Peace and Love.

Jay.

Why?

Ok.
Me and my Brother live in the same house.
My Brother buys a game that has to go through that rancid piece of rat s**t, otherwise know as steam.
I like the look of the game he has bought but I can't play it cos he has already installed it.
So they expect me to go out and buy a second copy so I can play it on my comp.

They can go to hell if they think I'm having two copies of the same game in one house.

Bring back the old days when you just used a cd key and the entire family could install it on their own machines and play.

So that's why.

My rant is now over and I feel that a tremendous weight has now been lifted.

Yours.
Jay.

Can somebody explain this to me?

They had CS:GO up for ~4,50 bucks on community vote (I only have 5 bucks left and was looking forward to it). Me and others voted for it, it got picked and they put it up BUT changed the reduction from -75% to -66% and that made it ~5.30. Has this happened before?

AGA

That's a Valve game, so maybe they wanted to squeeze the extra ¢80 out, since they're in control.

DoorKnobHandle

Hm I see, that's annoying. I mean, one part of judging whether or not you vote for a certain game is the price and when they change that post-vote... Oh well!

I've actually seen the opposite of this happen. Arma II was due to appear at 4.?? euro (I can't remember exactly), but suddenly appeared at 3.36 euro (I presume it was a similar 66% becoming 75% situation, just reversed.)

It could also be down to some random errors, with US/EU offers getting mixed up. The Steam servers are in a pretty sorry state at the moment.

I doubt it was done on purpose, as advertising something at one price before hiking it up once it got voted would (hopefully) be a breach of some law.

It is indeed as far as I know, 'false advertising'. It's not so much that one euro more, it's just that I actually stayed up until 3 in the morning for the deal, happy to have gotten a chance to spend my remaining 5 bucks on it.

Oh well, with all the amazing deals going on it is hard to complain. Yesterday I got Deus Ex: Human Revolution plus its add-on The Missing Link for around 3 euros and went for GTA IV for five.

That sucks. :(

Hopefully it will make another appearance as a flash deal. I got in a flash deal a few days back, and I'm almost certain it's appeared at least once more since then.

Anyhoo, today I bought Monaco and Trials Evolution, both at 50% off. Not as cheap as I would have hoped, but I doubt they'll go any cheaper.
