I like the option to vote for games. And yes, just a casual glance made me greedy for some of them games.
Antichamber. Left 4 Dead 2. Rogue's Legacy.

Soon... Soon you shall be mine!

I'd also like to recommend some games that are now laughably cheap:
They Bleed Pixels - a punishing and stylish jump-and-run; think Super Meat Boy meets Cthuluh meets Cute Monster Girl
Dungeons Of Dreadmor- a fun, challenging yet tongue-in-cheek roguelike. No healing potions here, but 30+ different types of cheese
Gnomoria- Dwarven Fortress with less features, and doesn't take ten years to learn how to play
Don't Starve- A game where you must not starve

I'd buy something, if only Steam would let me........ I'm always having issues buying things through Steam for some reason.

Mati256

I'm only hoping for a cut in the price of the ROME II preorder. I don't know if this will happen, but it's the only game I'm looking forward to right now.

If FTL goes on sale, I may scoop it up.
Also if there are any Elder Scrolls type games up on sale, do let me know. I have a hard time connecting with my phone right now. Their servers must be busy.

Ryan, FTL is already there!
Excellent! Thanks for the heads up. I purchased it as soon as I got home from work.

I've been eyeing up that Endless Space game as well.. I've always been a huge fan of Homeworld, but I don't know if I want to consume that much time right now. Hmm. Does anyone know if it's worth the time?

Edit: Ha! I knew that was going to happen! I could've saved a whopping $2.50 if I would've just waited an extra day. Darn diddly dang it. ;)
That's like... like... 2 beers!

Armageddon

I learned my lesson last sale, no buying games unless I really really really really want them.

Anian

My first pay check is supposed to come next week, which is definitely a temptation, but it's supposed to go to "new pc savings", so the motivation to resist is high. Then I just need to resist for the next three months or so.
Besides that, no real great discounts yet.

Anybody else still playing Borderlands2 (without season pass) It's 10 euros, but I'd hate to play alone through the game.

I have been spending waaaaaay too much on games recently. I just bought a 3DS XL which was very, very bad, but I really love it! I keep hoping "Night of the Rabbit" will go on sale more that 33%, but I realise it's unlikely to drop any more as a new release.

I found the steam group and joined! Yaaaaay for friends.

Me too! I've beem trying to stay away from games for a while, reading a lot -- but once I started playing Fez in the evening yesterday, I went on till 3:40 am. Great game, btw.

Game prices...boo.

I bought a Vita about a fortnight ago, for some reason. Well, the actual reason was that GameStop had a good package deal on (Vita/Soul Sacrifice/8gb card/90 days PSN+ = â,¬229), and were also doing 2 for â,¬30/â,¬50 deals on Vita games.

Turns out the Vita is a damn fine machine, though it's unfortunate that the buttons and sticks seem to have been designed for use by some human/chimp hybrid with toothpick fingers. :(

For anyone who doesn't already have them, I saw today that you can get both Ben There, Dan That and Time, Gentlemen Please (together) for $0.49 (through 22 July, 90% off). That's just a ridiculous price for these two games. Well worth the spare change. I'm even considering buying a copy myself for gift purposes (already have the games for myself).

That is actually one of the games I bought the 3DS for! I really liked the first game so definitely want to try the sequel. The game prices do suck though!

The vita looks really good, but compared to the 3DS its not got as many titles I would enjoy so it always had the edge. But it looks like a great piece of hardware. I had a psp and to be honest I didn't use it as much as I could've.

Sad thing is that I want it even cheaper than 50% off. I know it will be at some point (Maybe not in this sale, but you never know). I know it's one of the best games this year, but I also have other games to play for now so I can wait. Not even counting my current games, once I get a new machine with Win7 I'll finally be able to play Battlefield 3, X-COM, Sleeping Dogs and Dishonored available ...

I voted as well but it looks like Surgeon Simulator won.

Just got 20 bucks in paysafecards, deciding what I'm going to get. Faster Than Light is a must for me, I wanted to play that for ages and it's only 5 bucks now. Maybe Mirror's Edge for 5. I'd take Sleeping Dogs for 6 in an instant but I can only get the German cut version through the Summer Sale which *sucks*.

That game *is* very good, and for 5 bucks it is a steal. I didn't get too much mileage out of it now, but each and every playthrough has been awesome.

Hey, so if anybody on Steam that isn't from Germany could buy Sleeping Dogs (make sure it does NOT say low violence version under the Steam game page video area, I want the regular standard version) in the next 5 hours and 30 minutes (where it is 75% off, at 6.25 euros or your regional equivalent) and gift it to me on Steam, I would give you 7.59 euros (or your regional equivalent) in the form of a paysafecard (which you can use on Steam for example). Getting the right version of Sleeping Dogs would be worth the extra buck to me.

Anybody up for that, please shoot me a PM!

Babar

Are you sure that would work, though? If you buy a game from one region and gift it to someone in another over steam, I get the feeling they get their own region version of the game- so for you it'd be the "low violence version".
At least that was the experience of my friend in Australia (which also has strange censorship laws with regards to games, I think).
The ultimate Professional Amateur

Now, with his very own game: Alien Time Zone

DoorKnobHandle

Hmm, really? Damn. "Somebody on the internet" suggested getting a person from outside Germany to buy the game and gift it to you as one way to get around the problem - but if you've tested this before. Oh well!

Ghost

No, it doesn't work that way. I tried getting the uncut version of Borderland1 that way, and it's really that Steam checks what version is "legal" for you. The gift is just "unlocking" your local version.

Just bought the original Deus Ex and System Shock 2, two legendary titles that I have played but not owned - for 6 bucks total. Now I'm waiting for Faster Than Light to maybe be reduced in price even further in the next flash sales. If it doesn't get cheaper by the 22nd when the Summer Sale ends, I'll just get it for 5 bucks anyways!

Can't wait to start summer vacation on the 26th and play my newly bought games! :)

Well the sale is nearning its end and I have not purchased anything. Yet. I have to change that and I can't decide. I like quantity. I'd rather buy half a dozen quirky little fun games (you know, casual indie stuff) than one big AAA title. Any recommendations? Anyone played Ms Splosion Man?

Why?

Ok.
Me and my Brother live in the same house.
My Brother buys a game that has to go through that rancid piece of rat s**t, otherwise know as steam.
I like the look of the game he has bought but I can't play it cos he has already installed it.
So they expect me to go out and buy a second copy so I can play it on my comp.

They can go to hell if they think I'm having two copies of the same game in one house.

Bring back the old days when you just used a cd key and the entire family could install it on their own machines and play.

So that's why.

My rant is now over and I feel that a tremendous weight has now been lifted.

Yours.
Jay.

DoorKnobHandle

Can somebody explain this to me?

They had CS:GO up for ~4,50 bucks on community vote (I only have 5 bucks left and was looking forward to it). Me and others voted for it, it got picked and they put it up BUT changed the reduction from -75% to -66% and that made it ~5.30. Has this happened before?

AGA

That's a Valve game, so maybe they wanted to squeeze the extra ¢80 out, since they're in control.

DoorKnobHandle

Hm I see, that's annoying. I mean, one part of judging whether or not you vote for a certain game is the price and when they change that post-vote... Oh well!

LimpingFish

I've actually seen the opposite of this happen. Arma II was due to appear at 4.?? euro (I can't remember exactly), but suddenly appeared at 3.36 euro (I presume it was a similar 66% becoming 75% situation, just reversed.)

It could also be down to some random errors, with US/EU offers getting mixed up. The Steam servers are in a pretty sorry state at the moment.

I doubt it was done on purpose, as advertising something at one price before hiking it up once it got voted would (hopefully) be a breach of some law.

It is indeed as far as I know, 'false advertising'. It's not so much that one euro more, it's just that I actually stayed up until 3 in the morning for the deal, happy to have gotten a chance to spend my remaining 5 bucks on it.

Oh well, with all the amazing deals going on it is hard to complain. Yesterday I got Deus Ex: Human Revolution plus its add-on The Missing Link for around 3 euros and went for GTA IV for five.

Hopefully it will make another appearance as a flash deal. I got in a flash deal a few days back, and I'm almost certain it's appeared at least once more since then.

Ya, according to some FAQs once a game hits a flash sale that is as cheap as it gets. I'm curious about the "encore" sale.

I imagine the internet equivalent of a shoe store with a "Buy one pair, get one free, plus a trading card and a muffin if you buy a second pair, which will get you yet another one free but no donuts" advertisement, a couple of really scared clerks, and rioting shoe-fans with shotguns.
Nosferatu would be there too, gently hitting the manager with his coffin until he gets that extra 2% off.

DoorKnobHandle

Yay! Just picked up FTL, a game that I have wanted to play and own since it released pretty much. And I got it for 2.49 bucks too which is crazy cheap, relative to the amount of money it costs usually. Can't wait to give it a try tomorrow! Staying up for the 3am flash sale payed off tonight!

qptain Nemo

So, I don't know if anyone gives a damn about what I've bought during this sale on Steam or not, but here goes.
Ironclads: Anglo Russian War 1866 - was extremely cheap, so bought out of curiousity. Immediately regretted anyway. Turned out to be even more boring than I expected. I love me some pirate game and ship sailing gameplay for fun, but I'm not an actual ship/naval battle nerd.
AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! for the Awesome - was cheap and I loved the original. Didn't regret at all, played for over 6 hours so far. Was fun to play it again. No other game conveys "indie" as well as this.
Bastion - still not in the mood for this game, but it was piss cheap so it felt almost like a crime not to buy it.
Driver: San Francisco - basiaclly I have been waiting since last summer sale to buy it because my friends told me it was a pleasant driving game. Seems to be true.
System Shock 2 - it's on my backlog, so what the hell.
Fallout: New Vegas - I'm very conflicted about it, and it still haunts me, so adding it to my collection for a very low price felt like the right thing to do.

Skyrim, possibly never (500+ hours here since it was released (wtf)).  Dishonored is awesome though, and relatively short.

Ponch

I wanted to pick up Bioshock Infinite but I missed the cheap sale. So instead I picked up:

Bioshock 1 and 2
KOTOR 1 and 2
Borderlands 2: Gaige and Kreig character packs and the Natural Selection Annex pack.

Not bad. I certainly didn't spend as much as I did last summer.

Armageddon

AVP 2000
Sleeping Dogs
Kairo
A New Beginning (Game sucks so much)
Remember Me
Tomb Raider (Game sucks too but it's more meh than suck)
The Cave (Really fun but also tedious and prone to rage quiting)
Shadowrun Returns (I hope it's good)

I feel like a phony.  All you lot are buying indie games, while I seem to have bought nothing but AAA titles (and a few Wadjet Eye Games...)

Don't be silly. Look at my list! I'm a corporate sell out just like you. We should hang out and scoff at all the "indie hipsters" around here. :=

I didn't really buy a lot of indie titles; I usually pick the indie ones up during a bundle for fairly cheap, so I can't pretend any moral superiority or anything, but I wonder how much of it goes towards the developers? I know in the HIB you can choose how you split it...

From what I've been told and have researched, Steam takes 25%.

That's all I used to buy during sales, but I'm at a point where I already own most of the AAA titles that I'm interested in. Plus, it's getting harder to find AAA titles that don't require some outside DRM hassle (Origin, uPlay, etc.) which makes buying them on Steam (since they don't use Steamworks) seem a bit pointless.

Most EA and Ubisoft PC titles eventually turn up at GameStop for less than twenty (in some cases less than ten) euros, anyway. I picked up Mass Effect 3 for 9.99, and over the weekend I bought Assassins Creed III Freedom Edition...thing...for 24.99.

One great side-effect to dedicating all your free-time for five years to making a game is the big backlog of games to play when you're done.  I used to get super psyched by game previews and buy them full-price day of release.  Now, I've got 5-years worth of reviews, word-of-mouth, and hindsight to help me play only games I think are worth it.

Plus, all the games are now deeply discounted.  I haven't payed more than $15.00 for a AAA game since.  Some of the games aren't even that old.  Just snagged Dishonored during the Steam Sale for around $10.

Nah, Wadjet is still indie. You're safe and sound!
