At the risk of being pedantic, and becoming overly unpopular with my definitions, annoying doesn't necessarily constitute stupid. It is partially sufficient, yes, though not necessary.

A more accurate definition would be a thread that is marked by a lack of intelligence, care or understanding.

I think this thread encompasses the above quite well, thus a need for moderation.
