Hey there, long time no see ;)
I thought, this might interest you guys. I'm registered at cgcookie.com and they have a new sub-section called conceptcookie.com. Anywawys, they launched a pretty detailed course about Pixel Art which might be useful:
http://cgcookie.com/concept/cgc-series/pixel-course/
Unfortunately, you have to become a member at $ 10 a month i think but i thought i post it anyways, maybe somebody will find it helpful.
Cheers

It does look really good, but you lost me at $10, I'm afraid.
Luckily, this: http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11299
and this: http://www.wayofthepixel.net/index.php?topic=3467.0
should be more than enough to compensate.
Also, looking at the intro video, this guy uses brushes and gradients and stuff, things that are frowned upon by purists.
Haha! I found this course a couple of weeks ago when looking for decent digital painting stuff, i have to admit it made me a little angry so i posted a semi-nasty comment, warning people away from the tutorial.
Comment was gone the next day (surprise!). So yeah, what Khris said.
Basic concepts that have been explained exhaustively elsewhere, a lack of respect for pure pixel art (their pure pixel art, to be quite honest, is horrible. It shows none of the skill their digital painting has. It's primitive and amateurish), and... dress up dolls?
This would be a waste of money if it was free. Now a pixel art course that teaches you all the stuff you can't get elsewhere, that sounds interesting. But this is not that.
Yeah its surely not the benchmark for it but i just thought i show it anyways ;-)
Honestly his art doesn't look very good at all.
As far as I understand, the $10 dollars a month give you access to special stuff on the entire site, which this course is only a small part of.
But yeah, it's bad, and they should feel bad.
It looked decent until I noticed most of it looks like just digital painting with pixels. :P
