Title: Ultraviolet
Post by: Kweepa on Fri 03/03/2006 23:59:22
Whatever you do, do not go to see this film.
We had a company outing to see it this afternoon and it was by general consensus the worst film in living memory.
Now, let us never speak of it again.

Heh a bunch of people from my work are going tonite... They didn't ask why when I laughed in their faces and pushed them all down after they asked me to go.

Some people are willingly and intentionally going to see this movie, even after (presumably) seeing the trailer?  ???

I've never even heard of it o_o Blast living away from western pop-culture!

Am I the only one that thought the trailer looked great. It looks great visually, anyway.

Yes, probably. Never ask me again why I believe you have shitty taste in films.

I have shitty taste because I enjoy watching mindless comic-action flicks every once and awhile? Okay.

I haven't even seen the trailer. You just leave yourself so open to these things! I'm sure your taste in movies is uh, tolerable!

Don't worry, [lgm], you're not alone.
I thought from the trailer it might be mindless entertainment.
Turns out it was just mindless.

Okay. Just saw it. I take it back. It is rather terrible. No where near the crappiness of Ubi Boll, though.

The imagination was there, but either the budget was too low or time was too short.. or possibly talent was too low to really put it up on the screen. It feels more like a fever-induced fantasy dream than anything.

I'd call it the poor-man's Sin City... Except without the hookers, swearing, massive amount of blood, and excellent acting (minus Brittany Murphy). Oh, and it's set obscenely far into the future where paper cell phones, with holographic capability, can be purchased from vending machines.

Dare I say that Aeon Flux is two or three times better than this film? Don't get me wrong. Ultraviolet isn't necessarily a bad film, nor should it be hated... Rather, one should feel sorry for it and just watch it out of pity. Like adopting a three-legged puppy.

I haven't seen the Aeon Flux movie, nor do I want to.  I'll stick with the animated series.

is there anything else in SC besides hookers, swearing and rivers of blood in various colours, cause I watched it just for that  ;)

Because The Maxx the comic wasn't good enough and now we need to see someone in a pair of tights and foam claws awkwardly stumble through lines from the comic...

If you really need to see The Maxx moving, watch the cartoon

The Maxx was cool, back when I was a kid, why the hell is it still around to be made into a movie?

And if you are saying that Sin City had better acting than UltraViolet, that is frightening. Sin City had about the worst acting out there, I think thats what they were going for really....least I hope so. It's pretty much equivalent of Harry Potter acting....

Yeah, Sin City drowned in it's own coarse style.

I haven't seen it yet, but I will. I'm a sucker for anything even close to comic book related. Well ... except Catwoman. :P

I mean it is starring Milla Jovovich tho! She was also in the 5th element which is quite possibly my favorite movie of all time. Plot? Plot? Who needs a plot. Give me great visuals anyday. :P When I'm in need of a great plot I'll read a book.

Just watched the trailer.

Y'know, I always wondered what happened to all those sets from "Logans Run".

Also, any film that features some form of electronic nose apparel (Dune, Battlefield Earth, this) usually turns out to be a pile.

A little known, but entirely reliable, fact.

Well, crap. I wanted to go see it just because the guy that wrote Equilibrium did this one too, and there was supposed to be an extended style of the "gun kata" from EQ in UV.

Dammit.

The Gun Kata is nice. But not nearly "extended." It is much more fluid than the version in Equilibrium, but it plays a very little role in this film. Much less than it should.

Hehehehe..

Apparently, the director of this film swears that he was not allowed anywhere near the editing process.   That sucks hard.

Keep on trying, Kurt Wimmer

That sure would explain the complete lack of coherence.
