the victor: finally, thank you :) and more swearwords for me! :D
* hajo adds this one to his signature

pmdee: no, you actually were banned multiple times for being annoying. but don't listen to me! i only want to abuse my powers!

exsecratus: feel free to do that :)

... it's quite easy being the best.

I personally have found Pmdee irritating since he joined, although he's not doing it intentionally, he's too childish. I think the majority of the regular users of the channel feel that way. It's a cumulative effect, and not something you're going to understand from excerpts. It's not like anyone permanently banned him. I wish he'd take notice of all this and try to tone down the "I'm bored" "Someone hourgame with me" "Roger madlibs" "I'm bored" stuff. It's not something you can paste quotes about, you'd have to read months of logs to get it.

As for ManicMatt, it seemed like a personal thing for Hajo because he was overly offended by something Matt said a while ago, I don't think any banning is justified, but it was a temporary thing right?

Nacho, you can't really have an opinion on the matter if you haven't seen it, this is the problem with people taking IRC stuff to the forums, there's no point. It seems like pmdee only wanted to cause some forum drama because he couldn't use IRC for a few minutes. Complaining about Nazi moderators will always work...

Assholes, vict0r? It'd probably be better to gain more of a clue about the situation before insulting people...

well, I've officially left the AGS irc channel!
I've said my goodbyes and packed my suitcases, ta-ta!

you might see me around, but not very often, it is my time to go!

I'm not sure about whether to keep #ags as an "Official AGS channel" or just to remove any mention of it from the website and let it continue on its own way.

I find the IRC channel childish and inane which is why I don't visit it, and I'm not sure whether it should be linked to these forums because it causes occasional threads like this which most forum users don't really care about.

If you've got problems with people on IRC, keep it on IRC. We don't want to waste forum space with things like this.

And Ishmael... Saying "they pay for it, they can ban whoever they want" has 0 rationalism.

I never said that. I said they run the place, and they set the rules. #AGS has been a nice place so far, I hope the management doesn't have to go all nazi because a few people don't have a sense of humour.

And the IRC channel being linked on the site used cause no problems before, but then suddenly newbies started pouring in and it got all awful at some point some time ago.
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

As far as I'm concerned, some of them act like assholes yes.

Several definitions of the word "Asshole":
- sphincter/anus/rectum
- someone being arrogant, rude, obnoxious, or just a total dickhead
- one who acts in a repulsive manner
- someone who thinks he's cool.. but really, really not, and goes around doing things JUST to piss people off.
- asshole is a multi-purpose label frequently used to describe an ignorant or inconsiderate person.

Again: As far as I'm concerned, some of these people act like assholes. Towards me, and from what I've seen on the logs, other people.

Becky

the vict0r, do you ever frequent IRC?

No?

Then you have little knowledge of what is essentially an irc-based matter.

For the record, my feelings on this matter are such: Yes, okay, sometimes ops get a bit overenthusiastic with the kick/ban buttons.  It's never permanent, nor is it for an overly excessive amount of time.  But for the most part, the channel is managed well.  It's just the internet, nothing worth getting overly upset about, which is why this thread seems so childish and whiny.

I'll echo Progz's sentiments here:

if you dislike the ops in #ags or if you disagree with their rules then discuss the matter with them privately and respectfully or don't go to the channel.  But don't make an ass of yourself by creating a spectacle.  Thanks.

Becky, did I say this?

No?

Then you should resolute to the fact that I feel that the people mentioned act like assholes on a regular basis.

For the record, my feelings of the matter are such: If you are a moderator or of similar rank, you should act like it. Don't ban people if you are as bad.

I'll echo voh's sentiments here:

Your wit astounds me the vict0r.

Anyway, you're saying that the people mentioned act like arseholes, when you've never been on irc and witnessed what goes on.  I just thought I'd clarify that point so that people reading can see how uninformed you are.

We're all having a laugh over this in IRC  :=

Renal Shutdown

Vic, I don't know you that well.

Resolute to the fact I think you're a moron.

Just keep reading the above line, that way I won't have to bother replying to your next banal, arrogant and misinformed post.

I'd appreciate it if one of my fellow moderators would lock this thing.  It's just dredging up bad feelings and namecalling now.

scotch

Yeah it's pretty stupid, on both sides, I'll lock it (I should have deleted it at the start).
