Xbox sucks. Hate to say that, but it's true.
I'm not too big on the Splinter Cell series. Perhaps it's just that the puzzles were beyond me when I last played the first one...
The fediverse needs great indie game developers! Find me there!

Splinter Cell reminds me of Minority Report. And Tom Cruise. Everything is all 3D green and you wear slinky bodysuits, and look under doors with dentist equipment.

No, I have never played Splinter Cell.

The original for PC was great, one of the very, very few "modern" games that really did something for me.

Buckethead

I've played Splinter Cell on pc but it was only a DEMO. Now I saw Splintercell on x-box in the store. Since I didn't had many games for x-box back then I decided to buy it. But I just found it plain anoing. You have to be soo much slower as I remembered and you cannot save every time. It's just not the fun as on pc. The newest Splintercell: double agent, sounds really fun though. Maybe I'll try it some time.

No how the hell did I read this topic as "who here likes pain?"

The replies made me look at it again. Oh well, might just say that I've only played it with a mobile phone, and it was great for making time fly during a lecture.

While the gameplay is generally extremely repetitive and linear to the point of feeling on rails at time (the linear part is the real shame because some Hitman type freedom of approach would do wonders for the series) I still enjoy it. All the games have a very coherent presentation and obviously high production values. Slinking around in the shadows just looks great and feels right. Especially Chaos Theory looked hot on the xbox, effective shader usage. I may pick up SC for the Wii at some point in the future, but it won't be one of the first games I get.

LimpingFish

I played the original on Gamecube and got a fair amount of enjoyment out of it, I suppose.

I played demos of the others, but the whole Splinter Cell universe is a bit too sterile for me.
Technically, on a gameplay level, Splinter Cell may be better than the Metal Gear Solid series, but I'd always choose MGS first.

Plus I hate Tom Clancy. The bastard.  >:(

The first one was fun, the second one suffered from some design issues and was therefore the hardest, and the third one was the best and I liked it, but nothing groundbreaking.

When I first saw it on PS2 though I was amazed by the detailed graphics. (I've played them on varying consoles by the way)

I'm not such a fan of stealth action games; but The Double Agent looks damn exciting. I would want to play it if I could (guess my PC won't run it even if it is released for PC's.).
Games are art!

I have the original for the PS2, i tried to enjoy the game but found it way, way, way too tough for me. I was failing missions left and right. I finally had to sink to a low level by using the Action Replay cheat device for unlimited health.

I got stuck on the oil rig mission because i was always getting caught. I'm sorry, but i can't be stealthy.

Also, this is for you Alliance...How can you hate such a beautiful machine?

Have a good one,

Shawn

ManicMatt, the 360 is alot lighter than the original xbox. I can lift the 360 with one hand.  ;)

My Xbox is on the floor because i have no more room.

ManicMatt

Actually, you just got stronger from having to lift the first x-box, so the new one seems lighter.

(Or just maybe I presumed it IS heavy, I'm surprised if it's not)

Graphically, I loved Splinter Cell. But the game progresses way too slowly, and even more slowly when your stuck on a mission b/c you can'tÃ,  kill 5 people who have some smallpox virus (SC2 ahem)...

MGS is just too much better than SC.

amazingly ive never played a metal gear solid game, but If its anything like splinter cell I gotta play them, oh and whats this about the games being hard? Ive won all three on hardest for the gamecube with no cheats, and the 2nd one took me just under a week to finish.... man do I love to brag. So metal gear solid is the way to go is it?
