Quicktime File

Hey, I got this new nifty digital camera, and it can record short movies. But, because they're transferred onto my computer as special quicktime ".MOV" files, I can't import them into any video editor. Does anyone know what I can do, whether it's a way to convert the file or a way to add music and stuff to quicktime videos?
