Actually when it comes to languages (especially English) foreigners kick our arses.

My grammar regularly gets corrected by non-native speakers.

However I have corrected a french guy's french grammar before.. people are lazy with their own language.

English isn't even my mother tongue and I speak and write in it better. On the other hand when I speak in Malay to Malaysians, they think I'm Indonesian- 'Kedayan' Bruneians are like the cockney of the British... or are we the Americans? since we do have that spelling with 'O' instead of 'U' thing.

Yes, I'm 15 and if you do act better that is great - A+!you cant put me down cause where to different people & get along differently with people. I start off maybe a bit slower then you with working with people.Also I said ALL/most witch means there is a lot of people around me that do & there are few I know that don't.And-yes I do have internet from 9-3 I have school which means use phone cause the forum is blocked by the Boston public school something, then  3-? Back in 5th gread we use to use the web proxy site until word got out from one of our traders! + the last I did'nt really under stand but We do a hell of a lot of work in my school but at times I get the chance to check a quick peak a my fourm so I don't get "left behind".

No, I had to read through this thread, 5 pages altogether just because it was so popular. Icey-man, if you're not a troll, then it's all cool. It might be, that your way just doesn't suit us yet. We've always been pretty hard and fast about the language used. It's that way because in the end, well written posts are a lot easier to read, and that makes the experience more enjoyable. That is also why there's a fictional age limit. I now people have told you this already. I'm sure most of them don't mean to be mean, they're just pricks I know my people. Nevertheless, it's like the academic world: I've read a shitload of essays and researches in my time. But I find myself appreciating them only when they're written well enough for me to comprehend. Once they write like tech. students, I get the feeling, that these people don't even want to sound intelligent. And having to read that and make a study out of it, well, it frustrates and offends. I mean, if you want us to read your text and comment on it, you could at least make an effort. That way we wouldn't feel like we've been screwed...

And lastly, I wouldn't go banning him. One vote against.

Another vote against, for what it's worth. Is icey games acting like a complete dick? No. Is he making an effort to improve his contributions? Yes, otherwise he wouldn't have started this thread. Are some people on this thread being a little nasty towards a newbie struggling to find his way on the forums? Yes, in my opinion.

I don't see any reason for a ban on icey games. Keep an eye on his posts by all means, but a ban because he's having some difficulty with the forum rules seems a bit heavy-handed, especially as he wants to know where he's going wrong and seems genuinely to want to make a useful contribution. If someone told me "Go away and don't come back until you've learned English and the forum posting style" I wouldn't exactly be in a hurry to come back after six months.

The forum isn't a democracy, so the voting is only a reflection of my opinion. The moderators ban people, and they follow their rules on who to ban. Voting will not change that.
I can explain my opinion of my vote if anybody is interested, but I rather keep it to myself.

I would say YES regarding a ban. Sure, maybe he is serious about his games - but apparently if he gets criticism, he starts insulting the people around him instead of improving his behaviour. How should that turn out if he releases a real game some day? I wouldn't want another Harg-case here.

Yes, he's breaking the rules by being under the forum's age requirement.

Yes, his English is an embarrassment to the Boston Public School system.

Yes, he completely ignores all advice given to him and can't follow the simplest instructions like not double-posting.

But, c'mon.  You know it lightens your day to come into one of his nonsensical threads and be mean to him.

I'm also tempted to ask to work with Icey on a game.  But I have to flog myself every time I spend any time on a project other than Resonance, so I won't.  Won't someone take on the herculean task of teaming up with Icey and programming a small game with him.  Let him design, do all the writing (just copy and paste whatever he sends you right into the game.  No editing.), and do art.  Stay as far away from design decisions as possible and just see what flows out from that mind.
