Footage of the D-Day landings was actually filmed in Arizona, and the fall of the Berlin Wall was stock footage of a Newark school being demolished.
I dont see the point to use the map if I'm too young for any of that "get together" crap that goes on... and I'm sure fairly sure the older members don't nececarily need the map more than a few times.
I don't see the map as merely a 'get together' thing, Nipper. Personally I like to have an idea of where the other people, that I interact with, are from. Gives you persepective. Leaping the cultural bounds, and all of that. Not everyone uses English as a first language either (that goes for a good lot of Americans too), and I think the map illustrates this rather well.
Thats pretty awesome. I guess the reason I didnt use it was because I didnt know what it was. ;)
Yeah we had to leave it empty until you go to the fourth zoom level in because as you might be able to tell it's slow enough as it is, and displaying all the pins when fully zoomed out would mean they were indistinguishable from each other anyway.
There are about 245 people currently on there, too many more and I'll have to optimise it for speed a bit ;)
And I'll have to... uh... make you actually do it or something.
Hahah, I completely forgot about that.
Unfortunately, by zooming the map into the area where I live you can see only some little interesing fields. :)
I'm in there somewhere too... I never knew I lived in the middle of nowhere until i added my location. It's amasing you can find a street in some english village, but not a huge city in east europe - seems most of the world is blank. ;D

there isn't that much to do there. You can put yourself on the map and see where others are. Ok with all respect but if I want to know where someone on the forum lives I'll just click that person's username, I'm not going to browse the whole worldmap to see where some member is. Oh well it's a nice idea anyway. Just to browse around in your country and see who's there... What ever, I'm on the worldmap somewhere now so get that sigaret out of your mounth and smile again ;D

I find map... well, if not very useful, then atleast very interesting. Point is, the map is veeeery separated from true AGS community.

The forums. I personally end up on main AGS page only by some unexplained incident, even if I needed to redownload AGS, I'd check latest version form Tech forum. If I wanted some new games, well, Completed Games Announcements that is. And
NOT the main page, where the link for map is located.
So - it stays away from everyday doings. Since I registered 3 years ago, I don't know much about registering, but if not - it would be a nice idea to link new members - after registering - to map too, so they could place their location.
Checking now, I notice that there's already 8 other members from my country... huh!

Putting myself on the map was one of the first things I did after registering. I dunno why, I kinda just accidentally ended on that page and decided to give it a go :)
That map is gey, it has all the villages around my town but not my town listed!
Edit - when you say don't use, are you including the thousand or so people that have used it? :P
I was far too accurate in depicting my location. I actually got it right down to within about a mile.
cool new map! Better than the previous map. Although im not that much here around anymore i took the liberty to add myself to the map :)
