Hello, need a bit of a nudge (or maybe a big nudge) to get farther in this game. I have a crapload of inventory items, and here's the puzzles (that I know about) that I can't figure out what to do.
Spoiler
Need an item to jam the well lever so I can climb down it. Also need to figure out a way to distract the pastor so I can pick the lock on the door behind him. Do I also need a way to acquire the yule log? Bread? Moonshine? I've been in and out several times and stole a whole bunch of things from the mailbox. I've tried combining a lot of objects but no luck.
Hey Lakerz
Spoiler
To jam the well - maybe someone was kind enough to send some EXTRA TAR cigarettes to Paster Love. Tar is very sticky.
To get rid of Paster Love - get appointment book from the outhouse, and give it to Paster Love.
Thanks! Could have swore I tried the thing with the pastor but I guess not. Time for more Barn Runner! ;D
I hate to admit it, but I'm stuck again. This is a great game!
Spoiler
I've gotten to the point where I got the key and unlocked the monk's room. Used match on welder to make light and looked all over the room and fiddled with the CB radio. Kinda stuck now as I don't know what to do next? Says I need the manual to change the binary config to modify the signal on the radio tower. FWIW, I've also been down the well and restored power to the terminal and connected to it. I've also tried using all my inventory with every item on every screen even though I hate solving puzzles this way. Can I get a hint as to what to do next because I'm out of ideas?

Try this, Lakerz:
Spoiler
Go to the bookshelf in the Pastor's room and get the Bible translated in Binary from the King James Version from the bookshelf ("A really big book" or something like that). Also get the King James Bible ("A Red Book") from the same bookshelf. USE one on the other while you have the old sermon notes in your inventory and, tah dah!, you have some handy binary translations to use on the radio!
Hope that helps, and I'm glad you like the game!
- Ponch
Thanks Ponch!
Spoiler
Hehe, I guess my eyes got a little crossed when I was examing all of those books and I didn't notice one of them was about a binary translation. Oops.
Finished the game and really enjoyed it. Some great humor mixed in.

Hint 2
Spoiler
You can do this by giving him the appointment book you found in the outhouse.

Go upstairs, and enter room on the right. But you have to deal with the guard-skunk by giving it the candy cigarettes.
Hint 4
Spoiler
That fireplace sure looks handy
Hint 5
Spoiler
Get christmas decorated log from downstairs in the fireplace. Use matches to light fire
Hint 6
Spoiler
Use Extra Tar cigarettes in fire, and you will get a brick of sticky tar
Hope that helps. :)

Hey My Dog
Spoiler
Look at blue terminal, then use your DataChip in the blue terminal. That will power lights in the room.
:)
Thanks, Frodo! Two nights in a row, I've surfed into this thread to see if anyone needs help and find you on top of things! I appreciate the timeliness of your hints! You're like the ghost of Christmas Future making me believe in the goodness of mankind again :D
- Ponch
Hehe. No problem. ;)
It's a really good game. Thanks for making it Ponch. ;D
And Happy Christmas :=

Spoiler
You need to use datachip in blue terminal on the right (near the door) to make the lights come on. Then you can see what you're doing.

If you've already completed the blue computer puzzle in the well, are you in the monk's room? If so...
Spoiler
Use the lit match in your inventory on the welder (in the lower right corner of the room) to shed a little light on your situation.
Hope that helps.
And thanks again to Frodo for keeping on top of this thread!

Is there a trick to beating the robot in the church fight after visiting the monk's room?
This really is a great game. The puzzles are challenging without being impossible. Very enjoyable. Now, how do I beat this thing? lol
Nevermind! I finally beat it. Hilarious ending. I sure hope there's another Barn Runner game in the works?
Hey Mspenguin. :)
Yeah, the robot is tricky to beat, but it is possible. Try to keep your mouse in the middle most of the time, and move it to the robot when it appears.
Another trick is:
Spoiler
Keep using your loaf on toaster in bedroom upstairs. Eventually you will get slice of toast with a picture on it. This gives you extra life when dealing with the robot.

There sure is (are). Five more in all, making for ten games in the series (not counting little side games like this one). The next big game,
The Forever Friday will come out next June and will be released in chapters, every other month until Christmas. Look for a thread about it in the "In development" forum next month.
Glad you liked the game!

Try this:

It has a sweet tooth. Give it the candy from the package you get from the mailbox. Use the Multi Tool to open the package.
Hope that helps. And thanks for playing!

Cool thanks!

This is also for TassieDevil and the handful of others who dislike arcade sequences.
http://www.barnrunner.com/patches/X2HotFix.rarI intended to get a proper patch out by now to bypass the sequence entirely with a new cutscene. However, I just haven't found the time yet. Until I do, here is a quick patch to bypass the shootout so you can see the ending of the game.
In all future Barn Runner games, the arcade bits will completely optional by enabling / disabling them with the in-game GUI across the top of the screen. I intended to do the same with Wreck the Halls, but the time crunch to get the game out the door by December 1st didn't allow me to finish all the art such a cutscene would require. Sadly, I still haven't found the time. Maybe one of these days...
Hopefully, this will do until then.

Okay, I need a lil itty bitty hint here. I'm in the room, I have an inventory full of Bibles and I took the skunk and melted the tar. I have no clue what do to next! LOL

Spoiler
You'll need the tar for the rope crank to climb down the well. While you're in the pastor's room, warm the underwear (from a different package) by the fireplace to save yourself a step later. That should get you down the well and on to the next part of the game.
Hope that helps.

Whooo hoo I finished it! Great game! I didn't know that Barn Runner was a series, but now that I do I'll be playing the other games as well so keep an your eye on the hint section! LOL

Hooray! Thank you for that, Ponch. I've now finished the game. I'm glad I didn't delete it.
The patch doesn't seem to work if you load the autosaved slot (the "arcade scene skipped" message comes up, and then just sticks there - you can't click or anything)... I had to go back to an earlier savegame to get it to work. I might have saved over the autosaved slot though, so don't take this as gospel.

Well poop. I should have playtested that patch first. I was so busy getting the re-release of Cyclone Alley debugged for uploading this month [plug]available at my website right now. In case any of you wondered why The Prick Who Came In From The Cold ended so abrubtly, now you can play this long unavailable game and find out what happened next[/plug]. Big thanks to Rui for giving me a polite shove to dig that old gem out of the closet of doom, by the way.
This weekend I'll make some time to put together the proper patch with new movie and get that out by Monday or Tuesday, I hope... Wednesday at the latest... Maybe.
Thanks for pointing that out, Paolo. It's just the nudge I needed back to work on that!
