It was such a simple process because it worked right away for me.... however, I cannot remember the exact steps that I used.

Thanks everybody for all the hints. I have allmost read the complete thread( and most pages 10 times)  before I could find the hint which stopped me from being stuck. Well made game though. No pixel hunting. I finally can get no sleep now.

machine in the cellar. I have the reel but when I read it it says something about 99 farenheit. I thought this was the number to put into the dials on the machine but of course the numbers only go up to 4. Hint please?

those numbers on the machine are not for the temperature, but are room numbers.  What room do you want to set the temperature at 99 farenheit?

I have read this entire forum three times (all 24 pages) and I cannot find the answer to my inane question-perhaps it is because i have gone cross eyed, can someone please help me...or tell me that there is a walkthrough Please, I am losing my mind here

How do I catch the fly? I have the pin (from 2nd floor)and the cig...I know I need the lit cig to get the office key and i cannot light the cig without the fly but I cannot catch the fly-it keeps moving, I know this is stupid...but please tell me! I can't progress until I catch that fly! lol.

[/spoiler]I have played the game from the begining several times , doing things in different order but i just can't find the key in the screen where you look under things. I have searched all 8 places mentioned in a previous post , again and again , but the key is nowhere to be found . I'm going insane! What have i done wrong? I got : key-101, key-B , magazine , dirty sheet , cup , letter , wine , fly , pin , umbrella , ciggarete , carrot . I searched after giving the letter to receptionist or the wine to barmaid but nothing...Talked to all girls , drove to folly , used screwdriver on vacum . I suspect the key is inside the tree but every time i search i find nothing.[/spoiler]
The game is great but really tough . Is there a walkthrough?

I'm having a problem completing Slug Princess.

I can carry only 4 items concurrently.

I need to enter the hole (where the monsters and gem are) with:

1. the handerchief (against the gas);
2. a thread (against the snake);
3. the "axe" (to dig the gem);
4. the silver coin (to give the unmbrella-man).

I must carry the above with me, because I can't drop them into the hole.

HOWEVER, I must also carry a tomatoe (that is, the red fruit - I don't remmemeber what's it called) in order to lure the pink creature from under the bridge.

But... these are already FIVE items, and I can only carry FOUR!

What am I to do?

The axe is not essential to getting the gem. You can 'lose' it by feeding it to the purple monster.

Finally I've completed the game.

This is the most interesting AGS game I've ever played, because the story was special (sex is always a winning formula ;-).

But the game was way too difficult! I didn't enjoy it, because I couldn't solve the puzzles myself. I had to read this thread -- and nevertheless it was difficult.

Slug princess - Where is the axe and how do you get into the cave?

You build an axe by combining a thorn with a reed while also holding a thread. The Thread is in one of the banners in the throne room, thorn in forest bushes, reed in middle of pond, you need to use stones to move the lily pads so you can reach reeds via the log.

Use the axe to get the hankerchief then you can 'fly' from the top of the tree to various places, you need a berry to lure the purple monster out so you can enter the cave.
