Okay, the second puzzle.

I know I won't be able to solve this, might as well ask right away.

Could definately use another clue...

Thanks Leon, so I guess I'm on the right track then. After posting ealier, I finally realized that;
Spoiler
No, it can't be like a cryptogram. I finally noticed that the numbers are written like in poetry (a septet is a seven line poem) which is what the paper's messege was in.
[close]
Am I on the right track?

I'm also unclear of how the answers should be written. Is it a one word answer or more than one word?

It's FAR easier then that. I think you're thinking of the "wrong" first line. Read Leon's post again and you'll figure it out ;)

2 Snake:
Answers, as far as I understood, may contain more than one word...

And following the Bulbapuck's reply: yes, you're overemphasizing the text of the "riddle" ;)

Spoiler
Remember the gates to Moria and Gandalf trying to guess the riddle written on them: Say friend and enter...

Alright, this is driving me crazy. I'm still stuck. I guess I'm more blind than I thought. Everyone seems to be getting the first one after a couple hints, but I can't be arsed to figure it out for myself.

thanks as Englsh is not my first language, I always use the word as i said before  ;D

But with a closer look you can see clearly what the word is.

Thanks again

the next riddle is far too simple for me because I know this  :D

I'm REALLY glad you like it! I'll be sure to make a sequel if it's well liked.

Always remember that you can type 'hint' if you're stuck! That is, until the end portion of the game. For the last several riddles your character will be too spent by the difficulty of the riddles and nasty atmosphere of the mansion to be of any help. Even if what he says doesn't sound like a hint, it's very possible that the hint you're reading is a riddle of its own.

One part is the other part. This gives you a location.

Phew... couldn't get it more cryptic.

What can "The Sentinel" be? (other than a movie/video game).

The name:
Spoiler
Try to find out what's called "the Sentinel" and where it's located.

The object:
Spoiler
Try to find out what imperial explosions can be. Think natural phenomenon..

The location:

Oh come on! I can't be the only idiot here ::)

still on the second puzzle, I think I'm overthinking it:
Spoiler
I tried writing everything I could think of backwards, didn't work.

So it's something else, I noticed that you can see the door, meaning that the train is going to the right.. I think. But I doubt it's anything about that since countries have different rules for that.

then I tried to find a pattern in the scribblings on the wheels, nothing...
[close]
I can't solve this with only the hints I've gotten.. please help.

Post by: david on Tue 26/01/2010 09:53:56
ok, I have googled for some time:

this is the result:
imperial explosions in the US+phenomenon gives me OSHAs big Dust then Globalization etc

the land of sentinel in the US gives me Sugar company, agriculture then natural resources Dominica

but wen you type: the land of the sentinel and imperial explosions
on the first place is What???

cryptic - the link to this website  ;D

Title: Re: cryptic
Post by: Leon on Tue 26/01/2010 11:08:36
Alright. Sentinel and Imperial are both the same phenomenon.

A little more:
Spoiler
Sentinel can also be found as meadows or cone..
[close]
The phenomenon:
Spoiler
They're both geysers...
[close]
The location:
Spoiler
should be easy to find now...

I now see how fast Google works.. ;-)
And I also see I made a typo on the other page: it's not explosions, just explosion. And yeah, that was cryptic as well...

thanks Leon

Nope. By spot on I meant the way to decipher. But in this case, you need to use another key.

You need to use

Title: Re: cryptic
Post by: Snake on Tue 26/01/2010 13:35:20
Alrighty, I finally got passed the first one :P

Now I'm on the second one. I think the biggest problem I'm having is understanding exactly what it is I'm trying to figure out...
Spoiler
I'm guessing that I must type what IT is? Am I the only one who feels like the directions on what to do in this scene are unclear?
Eventhough it took me a ton of hints to solve, at least I knew what my direction was in the first scene, this one I just don't know what's going on. For example, do I even still have the piece of paper with the pencil? Or am I supposed to SAY the answer, or push a button or pull a lever... see what I mean? There's many ways of solving puzzles. I don't know what I have for options, or if they have even changed.
If nothing is different from the first scene, than I assume I will be writing answers on this piece of paper the whole game?

Title: Re: cryptic
Post by: Bulbapuck on Tue 26/01/2010 13:47:57
@Snake: Look at the hints I got, they helped a bunch, especially the one on this page by Domithan.

and you're supposed to write the answer, yes.

I'm stuck in this room:
Spoiler

@Snake: Sorry if you're having trouble, but if the directions were clear, this game wouldn't be called 'cryptic' :P

Anyways, as far as a hint:
Spoiler
Look at what's in the picture...think of different words for what it is. Then doing something backwards will help
