Title: Equalibrium
Post by: desimaui on Wed 20/04/2005 04:09:21
Did a search on this one and nothing came up.
I can't seem to do much of anything except pick up rag and fish on the beach.
I can't: open manhole
             use telephone
find light to use in basement
             find cleric's ID

I know I need to find cleric's ID before he gives me the rope.
I talked to all the people in the building and they want me to find their friend. I need help here please :o

Okay...let's see:

1.
Spoiler
You won't need to open the manhole until much later in the game.  Same goes for using the telephone.
[close]

2.
Spoiler
I'm not sure what you mean by the basement; there isn't one in Equilibrium.  Do you mean the room where Rosaline comments on how dark it is?  If so, you don't need a light.

3.
Spoiler
You do need to get past that large heap of rubble, though.
[close]

4.
Spoiler
Where have you seen something that might help you shift it?
[close]

5.
Spoiler
Perhaps a shovel?[/i]

6.
Spoiler
There's a shovel in the building with the people in it.
[close]

7.
Spoiler
Take the shovel and clear the rubble, then go into the room beyond.  The missing rebel and Cleric's ID are both there.
[close]

Hope this helps!

Okay, I got the red card from the guy in the building and gave the gun and ID to the cleric but where do I use the card and how do I get past the dog?
Also, this game doesn't allow me to restore a saved game. Weird but when I click restore game it goes to a gray box with two options: save before quitting or don't save. So bottom line I have to start over every time.

Hints below:

1.

It sounds like you really need to explore a little more.

2.
Spoiler
Have you searched in and around all the rooms?

3.
Spoiler
Go back to the rubble room and search the smaller piles of rubble to find a bone.

You can probably work out the dog and card problem from there ;)

QuoteAlso, this game doesn't allow me to restore a saved game. Weird but when I click restore game it goes to a gray box with two options: save before quitting or don't save. So bottom line I have to start over every time.

There are two ways to get around this; either read the full game description which was updated to include this and a way around it, or read on ;)

No, you don't have to start over every time.  Before you click on the button to quit, press F5 and save the game normally.  Then when you quit and the game asks if you want to save, just say No.  It's a programming error that's been fixed in the next game.

If you keep getting stuck, there's a walkthrough here (http://agagames.com/agswalkthroughs/soldb.php?cmd=showGame&id=97).  It doesn't cover everything in the game (for some reason the updated version wasn't accepted) but it should be enough to help you on the vital points.

I am getting VERY frustrated, even looked at walkthrough but....

Spoiler
I am to the point where I gave the green card to the girl and am supposed to talk to the supply lady to get a new phone number.Ã,  I have done everything the walkthrough has told me to do, but she will not give me a number.Ã,  What am I missing?

There is a thread with 5 pages of hints on this forum, not sure if you have read it or not. I don't know if the answer is there or not, I haven't had time to read it all. Anyway here is the link just in case you haven't seen it yet.

Judas, still can't figure out why I can't get that blasted phone number from the supply clerk. When I try and talk to her it looks like the conversation was exhausted when I visited her earlier. I really don't want to start this came over because this is my second time around.

My problem is exactly the same and this is also MY second time around.  Argh.

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back; internet's been screwy again ::)

Okay.Ã,  There's a very short point (like between two actions in the game) where you can get the second phone number.Ã,

The bad news is that if the clerk's not giving it to you (I'm assuming you've exhausted all topics ;)) chances are you've missed it and she's not going to.

The good news is that you don't actually need the second phone number to finish the game; it's like staging the breakout when you're trapped in Libria.Ã,  It's optional :)

And Rosie...are you still having problems downloading?  I tried from the game's site and it went fine for me; try going to http://www.freewebs.com/zintan/outoftime.htm and following the link there.  Hope this helps!

Hi, I really don't like to ask for hints, but....

It's about the rope. I gave the cleric guy the ID and stuff and he says I can have the rope, but what rope? I don't see it in the room anywhere and not in my inventory still. Is it a bug or should I investigate the wall panels???

Hmm, I'll keep digging around  :)

Does anyone know where I can download the game?

The rope should be hanging on the wall behind him (it's that coiled brown thing)

Yvonne, I've tried the download link myself and it works...that is seriously weird ??? Have you tried typing the link directly into the address bar? (sometimes Freewebs can be a little funny)  :-\ If you're still having problems I can try sending you the file directly if you want

*Ahem*, yeah, I did notice it afterwards.

Lets just say I thought the guy had an afro and goatee.

Anyways, I'm having a lot of fun with this game.

Spoiler
I think I'm near the end here, I'm playing as the dog character in the underground maze. Got the crowbar. Well there is a barrier that the dog can't get passed, so I became the human to pass over it, and I'm out of the maze (I knew that poster was fishy), but I guess Rosaline isn't out of the maze cos the game crashes with a message that 'the character isn't in the room.'
[close]

Well only writing that on the off chance I played events out of order, and there is a lill bug that will stop me from getting further. I'll keep searching around.

Oh boy...yeah, the famous 'Character not in room' bug...for some reason that didn't show up when testing ::)

Anyway, you haven't done anything out of order if you're in the tunnel system, and it will work eventually.  Some people found it worked better when they didn't switch to Sparkplug but went through the whole thing as Rosaline.  Once you do make it out, I highly recommend saving the game before you do ANYTHING else (you'll probably find out why ;)) Glad you're enjoying it as well :)

Haha yeah, I found out why  :)

...Which means I got through the sewer maze, yeayyyy. I'm glad mapping the entire thing was useful after all.

I'm so happy I made it through a full length game without requiring any real hints.

Spoiler
Enjoyed using the fish, I was as surprised as she was that it worked.

Oh, and liked Trent's reaction to both the 49/50 books traded.

I am wondering if giving the medkit to the cleric guy made a difference (was he Rosaline's saviour?)

And what was the coin for? The statue was not amused hehe. Then there was the bottle of water. well I'll check the other Equilibrium topics, so if you mentioned there, I'll see them.

Well, if you don't know by now, I really liked the game  :)

Thanks for the fun

Can't remember if I did this or not so I'll post it here anyway...

Spoiler

I'm glad you liked the fish...that was very nearly cut from the game.  It kept getting pushed further and further back (in the original version you could get straight to Libria from the Nethers at any point in the game, and you had to use the fish to get past the guard there) and part of me was tempted to take it out completely.  I'm glad I didn't though :P

No, the Cleric wasn't Rosaline's saviour (though that's an interesting take; I never thought of that before) You'll be saved even if you don't give him the medkit ;) As to who the saviour was...that gets cleared up at the beginning of the sequel.

The coin and the bottle of water *thinks* From a playing point of view, they weren't for anything (although you can pour the water into Sparkplug's bowl if you want).  From a scripting point of view though, they were vitally important.  I'd never written or programmed anything before I did Equilibrium, so I had difficulty with a few things; largely walking or not walking on particular areas (like the other side of the electric fence).   I added something to the code which said that if you had a certain object, you could walk there (which was why Roz kept the coin until the very end).  The bottle started off as being part of a more complex puzzle - you had to feed Sparkplug and give him water before he'd follow you - but at the time I didn't know how to program this and so the bottle became something of a red herring ;)
