I am stuck in dragonsphere... :/ (spoilers)

I thought I would replay this game and I need help because I am stuck.

I went down the well at the end and freed the king gave him his soul back but forgot to bring the key-crown.

And now I can't get up from the well

Does anyone remember how that is done, it's probably very easy but I just can't figure it out. Any walkthroughs I've found just assumes that you did everything in the "wrong" order.

If you don't have that yet, can you use your ring to transport out from the well, then travel to Brynn Fann
