I went into the caves, and then back up the ladder into the house and into the bedroom, but now i cant get back in to the rest of the house...theres no link to it at all ? Is this a bug ? Because i need to get the feathers to be able to progresss with the game, and they're in the other part of the house!

clean brass key and tried it on the portcullus..and it says 'jacob doesnt know how to use the brass key here'..help!!! this is the key i got using the metal detector. i have even gone back to the guy in the tower, the depressed demelza and talked to him again..the darn key wont work!

These should already have been addressed, but I'll answer 'em anyway:

To get out of the bedroom just walk west. You are probably trying to leave to the south, that is a wall. I'm sorry if that is a bit of a confusing part, but that is true to the actual 3D render. The camera is backed into the corner of the room, making the door to the left. (In an early draft of the game, the bedroom was taken from a different camera angle, ceiling looking down.)


As for the portcullis, use the key on the lock, not the door! lol, I've often tried to jab my house keys into various places on the door, but it never works as good as putting the key in the lock!

On the left of the portcullis, you can see the "open portcullis" object.  It sticks out for one pixel.  While pixel hunting in annoyance around the portcullis for any sign of a lock, I stumbled across that.

Did you USE the portcullis first to get a close-up of it? Just click the hand icon on the door and you should get a close-up of the door with the lock readily visible.

I just checked and I see I didn't say that explicitly in the walkthrough...sorry about that! I added it in, so it will be fixed for version 1.1

eh... i should have gotten that.  nevertheless, as a usability complaint, perhaps "Look"ing at the portcullis should get you there as well since that's how you use the jail door.  consistancy

..cook a meal for the Arch-Lord. I got into the kitchen (where the dude says, "Go on in!"), but I'm stuck after that. I'm pretty sure I have to pick up the recipe book, but I've tried picking it up about a million times in a million different ways, and I can't do it. It used to say, "I don't need it yet", or something like that, but now it says nothing at all. I just click and nothing happens. Is this a bug?

The arch lord should of told you that he wants you to cook a recipe for him, yes ? He will of also told you about his favourite sauce that his chef makes for him, and that he also keeps his recipe book with him. Once you've talked the the arch lord about these things, you should be able to sneek up on the chef and rip the correct page out of the recipe book.

Okay, here's what I finally did to fix the problem. I restored to a game which was saved a bit back from where I was stuck in the game, then got back to where I was. This time, after talking to the

Arch-Lord, I went directly to the cook and picked up the recipe, without stopping and going into the kitchen first. I think that somehow by going into the kitchen it was keeping me from interacting with the recipe book anymore. I didn't do anything more than I did before.

CoolGuy, hopefully this bug is fixed in version 1.1 of the game. Anomylous things were happening like that, and it was NOT a problem with the game code. Version 1.1 is ported up to AGS 2.71 RC4, which should fix this, I hope.

In the dining room, where the Arch-Lord is, look on the shelves to the south. Keep looking at them, and Jacob will see a silver platter. Pick it up, and combine it with the plastic bowl. That'll appease the Arch-Lord!
