Carver Island 2 - Bugging me??

OK, I'm stuck in Coral Reef school

I've got all the ingredients bar the sleeping tablets for the zombie killer spell. I can open the red doors of the exit and then can't go through. It tells me it's an emergency exit - I've tried all the actions and all the inventory items but no luck is this a bug?

It's a tempermental walkable area.  Click the walk icon high up on the screen, above the emergency exit sign.
