Title: The Astonishing Captain Skull
Post by: jkohen on Sat 31/07/2010 08:21:33
What a nice game! I find the puzzles are a bit contrived, though. Currently I'm stuck here:
Spoiler

I need to figure out the section number in the archives so the captain will go fetch the ghost file. I've tried talking to everybody and showing them the file notes, to no avail. I presume it has something to do with Compu-Tor, but I cannot figure out how to use it.

Well, to find out the location, you need to do quite a lot of things and I'm not sure what you did already so, to prevent spoiling the whole game please read one at a time:

Assuming you have found the device:
Spoiler
next to Dr. Tyranno.

Find out as much as you can about Dr. Brotzmann:
Spoiler
Use the device to analyze his body and the puddle next to him to see the difference. Check his journal and let Quimby have a look at the journal as well. He'll find something interesting.

Learn more about the production:
Spoiler
talk to Dr. Toad about everything and learn about the ectoplasm. Use the door on the left and talk to Vermillo. Ask about the production of ectoplasm. He’ll tell you more.

Then you need to talk to the missing ghost:
Spoiler
Use your notebook, select Dr. Brotzmann’s entry and use it on the ghost to ask it about Dr. Brotzmann. Talk some more about the death and the ghost club and the ghost will tell you about container 154 in the archives.

Then indeed use the information from the first find on Science Dog:
Spoiler
Talk to Science Dog about everything. Use the notes, talk to Science Dog about the bug. He’ll confess about the missing entries in the diary. Use the Compu-Tor and tell Science Dog to reproduce the missing entries and show the surveillance records.

Leon, thanks for the detailed reply. It helped me find out I'd missed using Quimby on something important. Finished the game, very cool :)
