The first letters of the words in the titles of the books spell out city names. Also, in the library screen(not the close-up of the globe) you can spin the globe to two other parts of the world. So click on the cities in the order the books were in the note

I've got the map from the drawer in my hotel room. I've discovered the Old square, Kampa, Charles Bridge and the castle.
I've been to the bar and spoken to the barman about Prague and these places.
I've looked up the monastery on the Internet, but I don't know where it is.
I've seen a lot of things around that I haven't been able to pick up, presumably because I don't need them yet.
So what do I need to do to get to the monastery?

are holding the torch and click on the monk he turns away - it may be of use further on.
From outside the hotel "look" at the roof of the place opposite. Now I'm not certain if it's immediately accessible or you have to try getting past the monks first. Use your hand icon to get on the roof.
Only use this spoiler if you can't get across

If you can't get across the gap, "look" at that board. Use your hand to slide it across the gap, then you can cross - you may need to use the torch on the monk to stop him seeing you.
Then you'll be stuck where I am!

You are right about the objects you see, you can't do anything with them until you have opened up oppurtunities to need them. :)

I think that you have to use the petrol with the last monk - the one that's blocking the way - in the cut scene from the theatre, there are candles or fire under the last monk and he moves out the way.

I can't be certain on this though becuase I can't get the petrol out of the car, any clues? I've used the keys on it so it's open, the tank's open too, tried using the vodka bottle and nothing works.

I'm thinking the clock comes into play later,maybe finding the tomb will yeild some hints,although can't seem to find it.The stairs leading to the castle seems to be an area where something should happen.I'm also wondering when that annoying owl will come into play.Keep me posted friends LK has made this one challenging for us

If you look at the statues on the bridge, you'll see that one looks a little different - like a crucifix - you have to use the "look" action on it though and when it zooms in there's something else you have to "look" at

It's the St Charles bridge, on the right hand side just behind the big statue, if you can see a crucifix that's the statue you want. - hope that helps

I've double checked the astronomical clock, there are 2 hands on top of the star signs leo and taurus. The arms of these hands go under aquarius and scorpio but when I press all 4 of these on the jesus statue nothing happens.

getting rid of the monk. I think I was returning to my hotel room to do something, but I don't remember what it was. Is there something I should have been doing?
Anyway I went to the bar and asked the barman about Galina what's-her-name. I went to the house and saw it was covered in devils when it hadn't been when I had looked at it earlier in the game - this looks like a bug to me. What's more, I cleaned the devils off, went away and came back, and they had returned... is this some supernatural effect that is part of the story, or is it a bug? Also if I leave the scene via the map and return, the broom is back outside the house. If you walk away, Leonard puts the broom back himself.
So apart from that, what is it I should be doing at this point in the game? I cleaned the house but I had no reason to do that... maybe that's why the devils came back.

To get the names of the zodiac you have to look at the dial on the clock - it's the one off center between the 4 mini statues you mentioned. The wheel on the jesus statue is the same one minus the zodiac symbols. I drew mine out on paper as a reference too.

On a bit of paper indicate the devils as seen at Galina's house, then go to the puppet theatre (behind the hotel). There'll be a cut scene but the bit you need to pay attention to is the order in which the red devils go up. So write it on your paper. That is the order in which you clean off the devils

how do you jump off the bridge? I've had the tarot reading from the old woman, which I suppose is the reason I need to jump off. But...
a. Which room do I need to be in to make the jump? The one looking right along the bridge, or the one at the end of the bridge?
b. Where exactly do I need to go to jump off? I haven't found a hotspot anywhere to do it.

I found those bittons by accident. I was trying to match the hands of the clock to the wheel but that didn't seem to work so in frustration I hit other buttons. I still don't know exactly why they worked so perhaps someone else can tell you

So Maggie there are 10000 possibilities with 4 numbers and you did it by trail and error -
My key card have 4 numbers - i never give my key card at you :)
I think when you not give the signs names , we all still looking for this because nobody have found ? how you come at this signs ( did the barman say something about this, or are there written in the red or other books ???)

Maybe this will help. Clue says look at time. The ASTRONOMICAL clock always goes anti clockwise. There is a sun, moon and star on the pointers . So sun moves to Leo, moon moves to Gemini.
It is September month so on star chart the opposite of Virgo (September) is Pisces and also the ASTROLOGICAL clock moves Virgo to Libra
SO you get Leo, Gemini, Pisces and Libra

Actually, Peter, there are 495 ways of choosing 4 signs out of 12 (I'm not going to explain how I worked that out, but trust me on this - I'm a mathematician), but it still takes some doing to guess the right answer by trial and error.

To get rid of monks:

Go to the puppet theatre and watch the show (use the hand icon on the door of the theatre).
You will see a scene play out that describes what you need to do.
First you see yourself. Then you see the three monks. They rise, meaning that they have died.
Then you see the monk in black. Watch closely to see what makes him die. This is what you need to do to get rid of him. Of course, you then need to work out how to do that.
Keep watching and you will see a hint about what you need to do after you have got rid of him.

I have read the whole of this forum (all 6 sections) but am still stuck at the monks {hide} I climbed the low roof, went left, crossed the plank and went to the corner and poured gas down at the cornice so it lands near the monk, then lit the candle and tried clicking the lit candle on the cornice, but the game replies "I don't think it is enough". I even tried the torch on the monk to make him turn away from the pipe before I clicked the candle on the cornice, but I still get the same message "I dont think it is enough" {unhide} Please help, someone. However the website for forum usage says to modify or delete, click the modify or delete button, but I see no such buttons on the forum! I then tried ticking "return to this topic" so I could amend it (to hide, as I originally intended), but that made it worse. So I still do not know how to go back and hide it. Sorry!!

Talking about those monks, I too have problems. I know according to some hints, we can use torch on monks and they should be remove out of sight but they don't!
Must I used some batteries? If so where can find those?

I must say that I could have never guessed that I need to burn my copy of the red book with the missing page, so that the book becomes "special" and appears in Jodo's shelves!
Maybe it's a language issue - perhaps "lost book" instead of "special". Then it would have had some logic - by destroying the only existing copy of the book, it will become "lost" to mankind, and that will make it appear in Jodo's "treasury" of lost books.
And I don't understand the logic of the correspondence b/n zodiacal signs and buttons on the wheel. To be honest, hadn't it been for Maggie's trial and error, we might be still at a loss...
Apart from that, I did enjoy the game! I've been following the sequence ever since Devil's Shroud I.

look at the titles of the books that you found in the library. Take the first letter from each word in each title, you'll get the name of three cities. Find the cities on the globe and use your pen on the dot that marks the city on the globe.
I finished this nice game not so long ago and thought that I found out most of it. This is definitely not true for the clock and the statue. I didn't try all 495 combinations (the mathematician paolo was right about "only" 495 of them). I then looked at the pointers and somehow got the right buttons at the second try, but now I think it was only luck.
When I read the posts, it seems that I missed this a few bits: Has somebody found out where the hand of the statue is pointing to? The explanation for the astronomical clock in this thread also seems a bit complicated, but nobody else has come up with a better one.
can anyone help? i am at the begining. i have a picture of a symbol on the wall of the monestary. put it in computer. can't do anything else. anyone?

You got the note from the dead monk? On the note are three sections and three book numbers. In the library, look at the book on the desk in front first to find out that the library is organized in sections. Then look at the shelfs to find the section D (left), J (back) and T (front). To reach J you have to move the ladder. If you use the hand icon on a section, you will be asked for the book numbers.

So you saw the crime scene? You also had a look at the big book on the counter in front of the scene of the library? Leo must find out that the library is organized in sections, then find the sections D, J and T first, then use the hand icon on the correct sections (and do not forget to use the ladder for section J). I have no save game ready, if everything fails, ask again.
And did somebody find out about what I asked in a previous post?
Boy, this game has really gotten to me. I can't seem to figure out what's going on. I'm in DS 2 and am walking all over town but can't seem to do anything. I can't get into the madame's house, I don't have a map to keep from getting lost, and what do I do with the locked door near the telescope. Also, I need 20 cents to use the telescope. Do I have any money? ???

I took bandages from home and a stick and some oil. Needed more than one light source.
I can't pick up the bandages from his BR because he says he doesn't need them. And where do you get a stick?
The stick is at the parking lot in front of the abbey. About the bandages: Perhaps you have to do something first. Can you tell me a bit more what you achieved in the game till now?
I cannot pick up the branch, if that is the one you are talking about. I have been to the abbey and talked to the
priest, found the dead body and took a pic of it and have looked at it on the computer but not sure what to do with the pic. Have walked to all the areas in the abbey and around it. I have these in my inventory: keys camera, cellphone, wallet, remote, notepad, travel agency info and business cards. Can you help?

Tip: You can consult your notebook anytime and your progress.
Take the letter and car keys, look at grandfather clock and interact with it :-)
Go to living room (up) and listen to the TV, go around sofa and take remote
control and digital camera, switch off TV, get out of living room. Go down to
bedroom. Switch light on, try to take flash light, take wallet and examine it in
the inventory, pick up the cell phone. Open wardrobe (no need), turn on light
of bathroom, open bathroom, examine it. Go to kitchen, examine table. try to
take the lighter that is next to the sink (can't take it now), open fridge,
examine it and close it. Exit to street and use the keys with the car, destina-
tion St. Michele Abbey.

Parking lot: Can't take the branch yet. Go up and left to the abbey. Use knocker
on door, talk to friar, then give him the letter Enter the door to the right of
the friar. After cut scene, get out and talk to friar again, enter Anselmo's

take a picture of the drawing. Leave the scene, go down to well and watch the
abbot drinking, you can explore the environment, then return to home.

Go to living room, get a book from the upper middle (you have to search a bit)
and read it, turn on computer and open the graphics program. *A*cquire image
from camera, Click on magnify and search a spot in the image (it is a small
circle down and right of the big red drawing) and examine it carefully. Look at
book again, it must present you two pages. Start graphics program again, acquire
image, magnify the interesting spot, acquire image from book, now click on the
*M*atching button.

You are so nice to try and help me. As far as looking for that spot on the image, I must have clicked on every shape there but I cannot see a circle shape. (of course the pic is none too clear) Where is this shape? You said rigiht and down, tried that and still cannot find. When I click on other shapes it says "this is the drawing from the cell." When I use the book it says "this doesn't look like the picture in the cell." This game is drivng me buggy...

How do you acquire image from the book.Its not the same as getting the image from the camera?
It is the same, just activate "acquire", then open the inventory and select the book (with hand icon)

Go to abbey, use the path to the right of the door with the knockers and enter
Anselmo's room. Examine the body again, look at the pool of blood below that is
below Anselmo's throat, then go to abbot and talk to him. Go to Elmo, the men-
tally disturbed monk, and try to talk to him. Talk to other friar and learn
about medecine. Time to go home.

Take medecine and go back to abbey. Go to the fountain in the back of where the
friar stands and fill chalice with water from the tap (not the through) and put
medecine into chalice. Find Eldo (go to hall and up). Give chalice to Eldo, he
refuses, so close window and try again. Talk to him. You see the two spots of
light? After telling the story, Eldo will give you a piece of paper. Look at it,
it is empty. Go to fountain and put chalice back on it's place. Go to the place
with the torches (sanctuary) and hold paper to lit torch to reveal some text.
Go to abbot and talk to him. Go to fountain, get chalice and fill it, then put
medecine into chalice, three times. Go to abbot, leave the room, he will drink
and got back to his study. Follow him and search him. You will find a key. Find
the keyhole under the picture to the right in the abbot's study. Use key on it.
Move the painting above the keyhole. Get a book and read it, see the three spots
of light on the picture. Take a picture. Put back book and picture, lock the
mechanism again and put back key. Get out and talk to Eldo. Go home.
Gosh, you'r awesome to be so helpful, but I've hit another snag. I've talked to the monk outside the murdered monk's room and he told me about the tranquilizers but he doesn't give me any. Where do I get them from?
oops never mind the tranquilers were at home. Igot the key, took a pic of the book and now I am at home. I made arrangements with Eldo to get back in later through the back door.

you can't do that in the first part of the game, and I assume you just started the game

you will need the keys later on, after you have seen the show in the theater. And then you can combine the pen and knife and can pick them up.
In this series of games, you cannot do certain actions just by trying, but you have to complete certain steps first and follow the story. See also Leo's web page.

The puppet theater is at your right as you leave the hotel but, as usual in the Devil's Shroud games, you would be able to enter the theater only when the time is right. The same will happen with the keys, which can be picked up only when you "realize" that you need them

read the notebook, it gives some clues about the next tasks. For the theatre: From the hotel entrance go to the lower left and left one screen, read the poster. You can't get into the the theatre until late in the night (morning). When you have been there, you can get the keys. For now, consult the internet ("oogle" in the game) about Prague and the monastery. Find the barman and talk to him. Again, the tasks have to be completed in order before you can activate certain hotspots

this symbol on the door that you also find in the book? When you click at the small "arms", they make a turn and move the dots by a certain angle. Arrange them so the symbol looks like the one in the book. It is not too difficult.

You have to take three books from three sections, one on the left wall, one from the wall in the background, where you have to move a ladder to reach the section, and is the shelf in the foreground. When you click on the right section, the game will ask for the book number (the ones on the note). Read the titles of the three books, the books contents are not important. Globe puzzle

The first letter of each word in the title form the name of a city. The cities are, in this order:
ROME, YOTO, LIMA
Use the hand icon to turn the globe and the pen to activate the buttons. Use the correct order. Yoto, btw, is the left dot on the image of Japan on the globe. The globe opens and you get the book that the monks used during the ceremony. But they ripped out important pages. Also, the authors name is not readable. Otherwise we could ask him or her about the book. But the title should be enough for google to give some information on the author :-)

I never saw any sacrifice or a deak monk. I still haven't figured out how to get into the theatre because when try its locked. I know the keys to open it are probably under the grate and I see them but when I try to get them he says there is no reason. I can't pick up owl, broom or pot, but I have been by to talk to the barkeep about everything. I'm stuck!

when you go to the library, you will pass by another door first. To open it you use the bracelet on the triangular hole in the wall. The hole is to the left, close to the edge of the screen and about in the middle. Enter and read the book. After the cut scene, examine the dead monk and get two items from the dead body, the third piece of the shroud (not the one that you already have in the inventory) and a note. Continue in the library. Save the game and go to the theatre. It opens at 02:30, as advertised on the poster. The keys come into play later

go to the square where you got the pot and open the cabinet below the sink. There are several items that you can pick up during the game. For now, you can only take a piece of pipe. Use it on the pot, then get the car keys and pump gasoline. You know where to use it? The poodle of gasoline will be too small, so pour some vodka down the pipe, then the candle
