I just played about 10 minutes and I'm stuckÃ,  . I absolutely like this idea with the staircase house but how do I get the key for the door?

I have played part I when it came out and really enjoyed the game.  But I don't like being stuck in same spot for hours, specially when you know what you have to do.

The entrance to subways are alike, but the rest is not.  Fourviere you have the basilica and Vieux Lyon you have the shops.

yea I realised the subway entrances look alike so the only thing I can think of is that when you take the subway to either of those places you can walk to the other place from there as well as take the subway, because if I walk around enough in either Fourviere or Vieux Lyon I get the shops and the Basiliea. If you give to the cow the plum only, it won't eat it - it does not start chewing. You have to give it something else after the plum, so it will eat both.

As to the problem with using the boat to and from the abbey, I am aware that if when coming from the island to the mainland (beach) you do not land correctly at the landing spot, you won't be able to use the boat again. So, unfortunately, you might have to restart - anyway, let's hope that the game author might sugest a different way around this problem. It is obvious that a lot of people are having it.

I've been trying that over and over again, but I can't get the stupid cow to move.  I have tried putting the seed in front and as close as possible to the cow, but it will not move.   Is there a special place that I have to stand.

To open the the crypt door you must light the torches in all 16 rooms.
but... whenever you enter room whitch is already lit all torches will go out.
So you must plan your journey through the maze carfully. The most important thing is where to start.

I had the same problem, and it was the fact I missed out on the first bit to hide, the father saw me - it doesn't have an effect straight away, but later the cursor freezes.
Make sure you hide behind the stairs, next to the door on the first screen. If you do it right he is actually ducking below the the little wall. Then follow through the next screen - and then the house bit will work. Good look. To restart him chasing take the train up and walk all the way down... you don't have to hide until the steps bit.

When the bird comes from left(your left) at the beginning of the screen, you can record it... Do you have the sound on by the way? It might help(Well, I ask because I usually don't...) .
Or keep clicking on the bird when it appears from teh left until you record it...

I think you have to talk to the bookseller first, and notice how birds annoy him...I remember I couldn't get the appropriate message before i did that.

  To follow the guy, you first have to see him through the binnoculars at the lookout.  He is in your hotel room.  After that, I belive he shows up where the boy was flying the kite (can't remember for sure).   To take a picture of the park, you have to use the camera on the binnoculars after pointing them in that direction.

  The hotel is towards the front of the screen I believe. Don't quote me on that though.  It is a real pain to find.  You will have to pixel hunt with the hand icon like crazy.  You won't be able to take a picture of the park until you have actually followed the guy there.  Good luck

  It's a bit pixel hunt-y to get the cork.  I clicked around the bottle with the LOOK until it said it was a cork instead of it saying the bottle of wine, and then I was able to get it.  I actually wasn't able to pick up the pencil until AFTER I made the rubbing, which doesn't make sense, but oh well.

  Well, what I did was, I tried to make a rubbing of the picture with the pen in the inventory, and it ripped the paper.  Also, when I read the book from the bookseller, I made sure to click LOOK all over the pages.  I can't think of anything else that I did. I hate that when games won't let you pick up something until you do some random thing!

  Someone asked that earlier... you have to light all of the torches.  There are 16 total.  You have to plan out your path though, because if you enter a room that you've already lit, all of the torches will go out.

its the right place to stand. I found the only way was to start following him as soon as he hears the top of the stairs, it was just trial and error but after about 5 goes I made it, don't forget to save game when at bottom of stairs to make life easier.Ã,  On the next set of stairs I just dived in the crack as soon as possible.Ã,  Try clicking on crack rather than walking up stairs and then into crack - it worked for me[\hide]

I am already forgetting the sequence of what I did..... but according to your previous post, you have not gotten back into the monk's cell...

go to the back side of the cell (where the cow is) and look at the window and the broken lamp above.  Go back to the boat and pick up the rope and anchor.... then use these to climb into back side of the cell.   See if you can now pick up the pencil..... then try getting the cork and burning it.    Maybe this will help.

Yes, but that doesn't seem to work.  Here's what happens:

get a 20c coin to operate the telescope so I can look at the embankment where the bookstalls are.  I've gone into the basilica but when I try to get change from the offertory box by putting my wallet on it, nothing happens.

Now, earlier in the game, I gave the saxophonist some coins... were these the coins I need now?  Does this mean there is a dead end in the game?  I hope not, as I would have to go back almost to the beginning in that case...

I have only just worked this out too. You need to use the hand icon on the telescope again after you have used the look icon and the hand icon once. Then it will tell you it needs 20c coins then you go to the box and it lets you swap. [\hide]

How do I

make the rubbing of the faces in the abbey?  I have the burnt cork and pencil.  Where do I find some paper?  None of the paper I have at the moment (reservation, newspaper, hotel brochure, business card, etc) does anything when I try to put it against the face, either in the full-screen shot or the distant shot.

Someone has mentioned a notebook, but the only notebook I have is the computer in the hotel room.  There is the notebook in the drawer, but I'm not able to pick it up.  What notebook is being referred to.

It's a bit of a shame this game is so linear that it is makes it hard to make any progress until you do just the right thing, and finding the right thing seems to rely more on guesswork than clues in the game.

When you have visited the dead monks cell, you are able to spot the place with the telescope. It is near the river ("embankment"). You can then go to the old city of Lyon and at the fish market, go left, at the lower left edge of the screen.

I'm in the park trying to get into the crypt.  It says the entrance is in the area corresponding to the mouth, and that the end of the fountain (or the edge, if you read your notebook) is missing.  So how do you open the crypt?  Am I supposed to do something to the fountain?

I am trying to get the crypt door open...no sucess!  I can't figure any possible way of lighting all 16 torches without going into a room twice and then ending at the door to the crypt.  I read all the hints so far.  One said the most important thing is how you start.  I figure the only way to start is to go right from the first room?  Can someone help me??  Have been trying this a long time.  Thanks

something to do with the symmetry of the flower-beds?  The book says "coincidentia oppositorium" - something about coinciding opposites, or symmetry?  I notice that the flower-beds are not symmetrical and that there are three flowers on the left, behind the fountain, but only two no the right.  Is there something I need to do with them?

You cannot do it from the starting point. From the first room, go left twice, then three times up (N) then right and light the torch. go to the left again. Now you start from the room left of the crypt door. Go south three times, right once, up two times, down two times and follow all remaining rooms.

I am playing The Devil's Shroud Part 2 on a Win XP PC (3.0 ghz).   When trying to follow the Father up the staircases etc, I cannot hide from him, the game keeps me on input-inhibit (wait) and before I can do anything, while still on input inhibit, it says "he sees me".  What am I missing, how do I "hide".   (At the first, short staircase after coming out of the subway, I cannot hide, but if I turn back to the substation screen, the Father moves on, and I then follow and see him at the first long staircase, but then the above problem comes in that I cannot hide, turn back or anything).   

Please help, I was thoroughly enjoying this game (and part 1 previously) but cannot go on, despite trying all I can think of for the past two weeks.

Never mind, thanks, I found the answer in this forum, I had somehow missed a section when going through the forum.    To paraphrase the previous solution, the next section gives you the input-inhibit/wait/hourglass problem if you did not hide in the correct place in the previous step.

There are 16 rooms, on your way from where you light the torch, you should enter each room only once, but you must visit each room. There are not so many possibilities to achieve this...
