IGA - Intergalactic agent

Note:
I tried out AGS two weeks ago and fell in love with it. I have RTFM and done just fine, I hope. Just reading threads from the technical forum has helped me a lot, so all I have to say is that this forum rules! (I've read the rules but forgotten... am I allowed to introduce myself, btw?)

Disclaimer:
Contains foul language, parental advisory explicit material, nudity, random acts of senseless and totally unjustified violence, toilet humor and scenes of sheer absurdity.

The plot (in its essence):
You are agent Latran Koesp from the planet Zeldanex. You work for the Intergalactic Agency, which is the main intelligens bureau of the whole universe, specialized in catching criminals who are guilty of committing crimes on more than one galaxy. The Agency has been after a feared terrorist, mr. Mysterious Dude, for a long time. Every time they get close to catching him, he dissapears again and goes into hiding. This time however, the Agency has gotten valuable information regarding his possible location. You are sent to Zeldapolis, the capital city of Zeldanex, to snoop around. You find him (after a zillion solved puzzles ofcourse) and blow up a bar, where Mysterious Dude is plotting world domination with a fellow villain. Not at all surprisingly, Mysterious Dude is injured by the blast, but is able to escape from the scene. On the quest in bringing down Mysterious Dude, the player is faced with many dangers (and puzzles) and taken to different parts of the galaxy, but Mysterious Dude just won't die that easily. There is no character development or any crap like that - you're the intergalactic hero, and you're job is to prevent the Universe from being taken over by the Evil Universe-Wide Terrorist Organization (EUWTO), and for that, you need to use you're supernatural puzzle-solving skills, which improve as the game advances.

General:

The thing is, that this game is meant to be a parody of:
-Parody
-Adventure gaming
-Science Fiction

And just to be hilarious. The puzzles get more challenging towards the end and are actually logical, so you don't need to randomly combine inventory items (there are a lot of incredibly bad jokes as response to looking at objects though and lens flares on screens that have no sunlight...). Being a psychopath will help you solve a lot of the puzzles, because the setting is always somewhat absurd and twisted. If you've read Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, that will help too.

Characters:
-Intergalactic Agent Latran Koesp (you)
-Osama Bin Laden as mr. Mysterious Dude
-Mr. Googlecrap, your boss
-Darth Vader as Dark Helmet Man
-Evil bat-dog from hell
-Crumpy old granny
-Pamela Andersson (animated) as a sexy waitress
-Michael Jackson (some dance animations) as a clone of Michael Jackson
-Rudolf the red nosed reindeer
-to name but a few

The graphics:
As I'm not an artist, I can not draw anything by hand and even less pixel by pixel in Paint. As a web-designer though, producing funky buttons and backgrounds with PhotoShop is my favourite hobby, so I took a totally different approach to making graphics for my game. I've used Webdings and custom shapes with loadsa layer effects to produce roads, buildings, skylines and even some characters... Then I've added some "realism" by cutting and resizing photographs... The result looks really funky in my opinion! The images are in 320*200, so that adds some groove into the whole thing. I ripped one screen from Space Quest, I think that should be a pretty funny screen...

(Sorry, my screen shots mess up no matter what, so just using bgimages here)

The music...
...will kick ass. I'll just add some of my previously unreleased material to the game.

Completed:
-The final scene!
-16 rooms done, the complete plot in my mind consits of at least 20 rooms more, hope I'm not too ambitious...
-I'm off for a 3 week holiday, so I expect to get started again beginning of January. Hence the game should be finished in February, if my girlfriend lets me go on with this...
I could put out a demo to get some real feedback, but what the heck, I'll just finish the game and put it out.

Still under production:
-The main character: a green alien, a MIB clone, or a small kid perhaps? Using Roger at the moment.
-A catchy intro
-A lot of animations, palettes and stuff have to be fixed...
-The plot needs to be polished, have to use a dictionary, check out some correct Sci-fi terminology and correct the spelling etc.
-Still looking for a growly death-metal voice for Dark Helmet Man, but I have friends in that scene so should be no problem

Questions:
-There are a few scenes where if the player totally screws up big time (eg. blows up a bar before gathering intel from there) there's this arcade type "Game Over" screen. Can this be appreciated in the adventure games scene?
-Will I get into trouble for using images of Pamela Andersson, Michael Jackson, Darth Vader and Osama Bin Laden?
-I will appreciate all insane ideas for this game!

Graphics look nice :)
For your question, I don't think you will really get in trouble for using those images, but some people might it regard being "tasteless". As long as you are ready not to start fighting who have this opinion and accept their criticism, it should be ok.
