Bristol in Avon in the Uk in Europe on Teh Earth (hrhr beat you AGA)
New South Wales.
They left the crap [read AGA] in Old South Wales.
Västra Götaland, Sweden.
It's not exactly a state, but as good an answer as I can give, considering the americanized subject of this thread.
I doubt it was intended for people outside the anglo-american world anyway.
States? What?

City of Benidorm, Shire of Alicante, Valencian Country, Spanish State, member of the European Union.
New South Wales too.
Oppland, Norway, Europe, but not in the European Union. Dunno why that is really... ???
I live in the good' ol industrial province of Ontario, Canada. Although most people in Ontario aren't French (that's what Quebec is for), I am proudly half-French half-English.Ã,Â

I am from the Region of Halton, Province of Ontario, Dominion of Canada. Boo yah!

We're now the country of Canada.

Contrary to the world's opinions of New York, it's not ALL LIKE New York City, which is, I swear to god, like it's own state, really. Where I'm from is mostly farmland, with industrial cities. I'm less than two hours away from the 1,000 Islands bridge to Canada, and close to the New England section of the American Northeast. Syracuse won an award for most snowfall. We get a lot of it.

Ok, that's just silly. I am however one of only 75,000 citizens of a city which recieves over 40 million tourists a year. Plus, we just finished our "great new casino" which now has the largest casino gaming floor in the world, so I imagine that number is about to skyrocket. 2 Casino's now, you should see it, the place is starting to look like little Vegas down there.
At least some people still come to see that natural wonder, The Falls. They're nice, however, the fireworks every night arn't... and the traffic... oh god.
Ohhhh... and we get alot of American's coming over because you can drink @ 19 instead of 21 and we have so many strip clubs. The parking lots are full at noon!

Hehehehehe, ya, that's about 40 mins from me.... it's nice alright... if you can ignore the fact that there are smokestacks everywhere, some with flames coming out of it.... and ignore that they are tearing down a national biosphere forest to spend 200 million dollars on a highway this area doesn't need.
CobraKaun, Don't you think you are exaggerating the smokestack thing just a tad. Yes there are about five but they are in the industrial area. I happen to live in Stoney Creek a suburb of Hamilton close to the country and it's beautiful. As for the Highway most everyone I know disagrees with it, that's why there have been tons of protests and it has taken already five years for them to complete what they have.
I'm sorry but I don't happen to appreciate you insulting my city, you don't see anyone else doing that do you?
Sorry, didn't realize you would take it so personally....
I wouldn't be upset if you called Niagara Falls tacky.
But there isn't 5 smokestacks, that's under exagerating. Go into the city up the QEW from Niagara, I did yesterday, I counted 26 on my way in, and I missed alot on the other side of the highway.
And yes, I know Stoney Creek, and have been there many times.. and you're right, it is beautiful. I have also been involved in many of the protest of the highway, have met with politicians, and have held many of the fundraisers in Hamilton, including all of the ones @ Pepperjacks. I work very closely with The Friends of the Red Hill Valley, and have been finanicially supporting the natives in their legal battles against the government for illegally using their land.
Have you been down there lately, production has definately not stopped. They have already clearcut a good portion of it, and are in progress of blowing up part of the escartment to continue it.... it's sickening.
No problem, I was having bit of a hard day yesterday.
Anyways I whole heartedly agree with you on the Red hill valley as I live close by it, and am disgusted with it.
I have lived in Stoney Creek my whole life, all of 25 years lol, and I hate what they have done up here, I know everything evolves but I wish it could've stayed the same. It was basically the Country when I was young. Fields everywhere with herds of deer, foxes, eagles and owls; one store, two schools, and no buses on the weekends (I'll admit I hated that). Change isn't always good in my opinon.

Well, if she was in New Brunswick, she would have been in St. John -- St.
John's would be in the province of Newfoundland. Just so you know.
But exiled to St. John? What the heck was THAT all about? Was it some weird part of the big Acadian deportation? (my history is bad...)
ANYway, I'm actually about a 5 hour's drive away from St. John, in a small joke of a city called Campbellton, at the very North of the province, very much boardering on the province of Quebec (basically, we cross the bride and we're ina different timezone... and in a way, a whole different world...).

Oh, yeah, I know that...but I always get it mixed up. Sorry! I've always wanted to visit up there, just because my grandma told some cool stories...
But the story is that my grandma's family, the Belyeas, were loyalists during the American Revolutionary War...they were living in Tarrytown, New York at the time, and then obviously their side lost and they had to get out of the area fast to avoid...unpleasantness. Supposedly the King of England granted them a bunch of land up there and they were a prominent family and maybe still are, I dunno...
Not that it's passed down the generations. They divided up the family estate maybe ten years ago, my grandma got an inheritence check in the mail for $350 dollars. She bought an air conditioner. Big Whoop.
Well anyway, that's cool that you know of this place...

Now wait a minute, let me make things clear about Canada.
1- We do not live in igloos.
2- Winter does not last all year, durring summer, it's aboutÃ, 86 degrees F or 30 degrees C
3- We do not say "eh!" every sentence.
4- For people who watches South Park, we do not pronounceÃ, the word "about", "aboot"
5- Our technologie is not 10 years behind the USA.
6- "Color" over here is spelled "Colour"
7- In canadian football, the field is bigger than american football, and we only have 3 downs, not 4.
I hope some of you learned alot about Canada, this has been a message from Mugs.
EDIT: Ohh... By the way, I live in a very small town called Sturgeon Falls,Ã, I don't think it matters though.
I live in the small town of Ilion, New York........
I'm also from Canada (British Columbia), and I would like to clear up a misconception. Yes, we do live in igloos. In fact, our Parliament building just so happens to be a giant igloo. Therefore, if anyone wants to launch a terrorist attack on us, they should be sure to bring plenty of hair dryers.
We also have $1, $2, and $5 coins, which we refer to as the loonie, the toonie, and the woody respectively. The latter is called "woody" because it's made of wood.
By the way, can you pass me a serviette, eh? I just spilled my poutine on the chesterfield.

Hi to all...

Greetings from a small village near Cologne

Hm, I thought I might have applied to this thread, but apparently not.
So...
I live in Hollywood, California. Yes, that Hollywood. But it's not at all a glamorous or ritzy place; I live here primarily because it's where I managed to find a cheap apartment. (Most of the movie stars and such live further west, in the Beverly Hills area. Hollywood itself is rather run-down and dingy.)
I live about a block or two from the Hollywood/Highland complex, where the Oscars are held. In practice, mostly what this means to me is that last weekend traffic was really bad here. (Traffic is also really bad, although not quite as bad, when there's something going on at the Hollywood Bowl, which is only a little farther away in roughly the opposite direction.) The Hollywood/Highland complex is also where I catch the subway every day, so it's not terribly exotic or alluring to me.
I am not planning on staying here permanently. I am actually considering (within a few years) moving to Vancouver. We'll see what happens.
Good luck in the United States then!!
However, this would not be a destination for me..
I'd rather would like to stay in Ireland!!!
I've tried to learn the Gaelic language somehow...but it does not fit into my brains...
So..I think I stay with English and everyone should try to understand what I'm supposed to talk about, lol
So...
This is serious, I'm trying to find a job in Ireland!
I'm female, 44 years "young" and I used to work as secretary for the past 24 years..
Now I have lost my job here for some doubtful reasons and I'm trying to start something new...
And I love Ireland..can't explain the reason...
Something ist attracting me....
All offers are appreciated:-)
I live in Arkansas...
And that's all anyone really needs to know about my location.
I live on Telde, on Las Palmas of Gran Canaria.
well here we go.. I'm from Guayas, Ecuador (South America).. in the middle of the world ;)

Funny -- I grew up in northeastern Kansas (Lenexa, to be exact) and am now in Cincinnati, OH, USA. I lived for five years in Great Britain (Wolverhampton then Cambridge) in between. I've enjoyed pretty much everywhere I've lived. Cincinnati is pretty boring if you're single, but now that I've got a wife and kid, we enjoy it pretty well. :) Also, the arts here are great considering how small (2mil-ish) the metropolitan area is.
Cincy isn't boring if you'e single, it's hidden. Unless you knowwhat to do, there is absolutely nothing to do. Took me about two years before I found out where to go to have a good time in Cincy... Now I am no longer single either, though. Heh-
Born in Serbia, live in Romania.
Born in Blenhiem (South Island of New Zealand) then moved to Palmerston North (North Island of New Zealand)
Well I was born in the far west (USA), then moved to New England when I was 3 months old, and now I've been in the southwest for the past year and a half, attempting to start a life. I guess I still consider myself to be from New England though.
I was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, lived in Orlando, Florida for a couple years, moved back to Baton Rouge, and am now wasting away in Nashville, Tennessee. This May I will be moving back to Baton Rouge to regroup and possibly further my education. Then, it's on to wherever I find the best opportunities. The candidates currently include Vancouver, California, New Mexico, South Korea, and Costa Rica. (I haven't really decided on specific cities in the states and countries listed.)

I guess Arjon knows that and Bavaria must the be the best-known place in Germany to all foreigners. Well, perhaps that is Berlin, but I think a lot of
know about Bavaria and immediately connects it with beer (basically due to the Oktoberfest). And the stereotypical German is always presented as a Lederhosen-wearing Bavarian with attachment to beer (in the Simpsons for example).
I'm pretty sure that by "foreigners" you could place Americans, I think most people in Europe know more about Bavaria. Don't know about the rest, but I found Munich (Munchen, Minhen) a beautiful city, beer is great (maybe it was the warm sunny afternoon and a cold one, but still I think it's good beer). Beautiful old style architecture around the field where Oktoberfest is held. And like every 5th car is a BMW or a Mercedes or a Porsche...how cool is that.
I'm pretty sure the street which might be considered a "red light district" is Goethe (or Schiller, not sure anymore) Strasse - that's just a plain cool coincidence. 8)
That good enough description. ;D
p.s. ...and the Alps on the way over there are amazing as well.
