Title: Horror Hospital: Incomplete Demo Thingy Released.
Post by: Mozesh on Sat 08/01/2005 14:11:59
Hey Peepz, the plug was going to be pulled on Horror Hospital but fortunatly I changed my mind and went on with it.
Heres the updated info.

The main caracter is Phil Nathan, a normal guy with a boring desk job in the city.
As Phil goes home after working late he gets hit by a car.
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/CarFrontNight3.jpg)

*Updated Screenshot*

He is taken to a hospital, were strange things will happen.

The game is Rendered with the DeusEx Engine, it uses Half-Life and DeusEx Models.
At first you will be in a normal Hospital, but that will change when you get futher in the game. A bit like Silent Hill.

(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/screenmenu2.JPG)

*Updated Screenshot*

The game has a menu that can be used at almost al times.(thanks Ahmet AkA Gord10 ;) Who helped me alot with that)

(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/windowview.jpg)
This is the kind of view you can expect when you look at an object or window, this is what you see as you look out the window on Phil`s hospital room.
    Special thanks to Ahmet Kamil Keles.

Update: 2nd of August 2005

My fellow AGS'ers I have some bad news,
my hard drive crashed and Horror Hospital has been deleted in the process.
Unfortunatly due to my lack of motivation I fear that I won't start all over again on this same project.
I still do have some old files stored somewhere (on my server) so If and I say 'IF' I feel like starting all over again I will have some needed recources at hand.
Also I have found an old version of HH full of bugs and crappy intro included, I will try to upload it somewhere for those who want to download it.
So Horror Hospital is here by put on hold, unless I am confinced otherwise.

~~~~~~~~~~~UPDATE 7th of September 2005~~~~~~~~~~~~
(same as last bumping post)
Why hello there!,
Just so you know, I'm releasing the incomplete demo thingy for horror hospital.
I don't really have intention of making this game any further since the Hard drive crash.
So I am just releasing this for those who want to check it out.
Known Issues:
-There are probably some bugs in the game
-Real dumb conversations that needed to be sorted out
-Missing animations
-The timing at some points is off
-Animations can keep playing when walking down after such an animation
-Hotspot interactions are not all complete
-Forgot about walking when opening in the fuseroom.
-Scaling off in some rooms.
Most of these could be fixed easily but I don't have the time for it, seriously.
Real though stuff are going to happen at school.
DIRECT LINK:
I had to upload it to filefront since for some reason I cannot upload on the better upload spaces  :(
Looks awesome.  You're off to a great start, and I look forwards to seeing your game in action.
I would offer to help some on the story, but as I just signed up for the upcoming ATC challenge, I'll be putting my efforts into that for now...
but perhaps if you still needed some help after a few more weeks, I may be able to offer my services then.
Best wishes.
Yeah, I'd say so too. After all, there is a noticibly ags cursor in the second screenshot.
Game looks real good, looking forward to playing it. Will the game be in 1st person or 3rd person, or a mix?
Yeah i meant the rendered with the DeusEx engine and made the game with the AGS engine ;)
Surge : Will the game be in 1st person or 3rd person, or a mix?
It will be a mix. 3rd person view for walking but there will be many 1st person close ups of almost anything thats worth looking at, and some rooms will be 1st person view only.
Title: HH UPDATE
Post by: Mozesh on Thu 13/01/2005 19:15:31
Update, 11-03-05
Characters.
When I wrote this topic I forgot to mention some important things.
First I forgot to tell that you will not be alone in this game, there will be 2 caracters to your aid.
James Savage a doctor who works at the hospital will be part of your team as well as Rafael Hakson, he is an engineer who was working on the elevators as he got sucked into the hell on earth.
Both of them will have abitilities to help you solve problems.
A bit like Start Trek Judgement Rites (if you know it ;) )
But you will not start with these caracters in the beginning.
After a while you will find one of them, and a while later the other. But don`t expect being together al the time, there will be some suprises ;)
Post by: Barbarian on Wed 09/02/2005 09:49:52
Hiya Redrum89.
Well, I really like the ideas, look and mood of the game you've shown so far for HH. And I've been wanting to take-on creating (or helping to create) a "Horror" type of adventure game. In fact I was slowly poking around on making a "horror" type of game before the current ATC started.
However, my spare time and train-of-thought is now focused on the current ATC (In which we have an awesome team, which is helping to shape our game into something that I think will surprise and please many people, heck, I think if we can meet all of the deadlines, we'll have a really good chance of winning this ATC, though I know we're up against some tough competition).
Currently for our ATC project I'm working on the overall details of the story - which include the plot, various dialogs, outline of "puzzles" that will take place, suggested details of what various characters, scenes, items, etc.. that will be found in the various rooms, voice narration, and Team Captain cracking the whip (hopfully providing some inspiration and motivation to my team members in this regards as well)Ã,  :)Ã,  So, this ATC is definately a good learning experience in many ways which is definately improving many of my "game creating skills".Ã,
Anyways, errr, where was I going with all this?Ã,  :PÃ,  So, I guess what I was trying to say, when this current ATC winds down, and I don't need to focus as much of my spare time and energy on this current project, and if you're still needing some assistance (Perhaps as a Story Writer), then I would be happy to offer my services to your HH project. I know I contacted you a couple weeks back in this regards, but I wanted to give you an update of my current situation and let you know I'll still be interested to help you in the near future.
Best Wishes, and keep at your game. Don't give up.Ã,  :)
Title: Re: Horror Hospital | Need Help!!! HH back in the game! :)
Post by: on Fri 11/02/2005 15:03:57
Game looks nice, but please try to put some more imagination into the name. It has no depth or inspiration and makes the whole thing seem a bit cheap and thoughtless in my opinion.
You could argue that the name is purely functional, but games like this are based on stories and plots, so surely you could think of something a bit more imaginative? I mean, silent hill 2 was based largely in a hospital, but it wasnt called 'Horror Hospital' or 'hospital of death' etc.
What happened?  How long have you been working at HH?  Its never a good idea to abandon current project because you have new ideas for another... you should always finish them all the way through.  Otherwise, you might have small unfinished projects scattering around.
Just experiences I've had.
Hey peepz, I haven't been doing anything lately, just thinking about what I want to be working on.
There still is a possiblity that I will be contineu working on hh, since I worked on it a long time and dont want to trow that away.
I will be thinking about it some more, when I come to a conclusion it will be put in this here reply, and I will change the topic stuff.
EDIT:
Heey people Horror Hospital is back in production, there will be a change in story line but it wouldnt change the game to much.
I will change the main topic thingy that includes the story, new screenshots will be posted as well.
Here are close-ups of all three of them.
These are all final version of them, so it seems for the time being.
New screenshots will be posted sooner or later.
New ingame screenshots will be posted soon as well.
Hey everyone. I'm in search of some voice actors. The game is in its early stages but I'm sure I will make a voice pack. So I'm in search of voice actors, all male so far, living in europe since I live there or the time difference may become a problem. Please PM me or place a reply.
I need:
1 voice actor for the main character, Phil Nathan.
1 voice actor for an NPC Rafael Hakson. (Big role)
1 voice actor for an NPC James Savage. (Big role as well)
1 voice actor for Priest ... (no name yet, new character).
1 voice actor for Mr. Turner (Phil's boss, this voice actor maybe doing voices for other small roles)
1 voice actor for a Security Guard (small roll, same as mr. Turner)
If I need any other I will put it in this post.
Could you give a small description of what kind of voice each character needs. Also you could give an example text for every char to be read for a voice sample.
Anyway I would really like to act in this game. :)
Good thinkin :P . There are some screenshots here but i'll give some new one too ^-^
Okay so here's some info about the characters:
Phil Nathan, a normal guy, hasn't got a real accent. He is a bit depressed though. He is 27 years old, got a boring desk job in the city.
Has problems with his girlfriend (see depressed :P ),
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/phil3t.JPG)
Rafael Hakson, an engineer, sounds abit like a grunt from half life 1. He's a brave man, is 25 years old. He has got a girlfriend.
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/rafael3t.JPG)
James Savage, a doctor, hasn't got a real accent either, he's the cowardly guy of the lot, He is 31 years old. He's got a wife, and a daughter on the way.
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/james3t.JPG)
The Priest Unknown to you that is ;) , a priest .... :P , has got a bit russian accent, hes a bit like the priest of ravenholme in half life 2, hes about 40\50 years old, a bit of a aggresive guy. Likes to kick some HH creatures ass :P .
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/unkown3t.JPG)
Mr. Turner, Phil's boss (small role), he's got some temper problems sometimes, he fortunatly likes Phil. He is about 50/55 years old. Has a wife and a son.
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/turner3t.JPG)
Security Guard Jeffrey (small role, for now), he's a normal afro/american guy, hes about 25 years old. Has a wife and a daughter.
He's normally a funny guy, but is deadly serious when it all happens.
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/jeffrey3t.JPG)
Doctor Baynes (small role), he's a doctor, he's about 50/55 years old. Has a wife a daughter and two sons. He's an nice man, has a bit of a german accent, he migrated to the usa in 1979.
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/baynes3t.JPG)
If any new character come (big change there will) I will post bio, and screenshots unless it needs to be a secret ;) .
Hey Hey people, Ralph here. Here's a new update :)
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/ingame1.JPG)
Outside in the city, this is a part of the intro.
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/ingamenew1.JPG)
Here's the updated Phil's Hospital Room.
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/old.JPG)
And this was the old one, with the old phil character.
And here he is, the one the only THàˆ PRIEST!
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/jure1.JPG)
And now the technical update:
Update : 30th of March 2005.
-All Phil frames are imported.
-An enemy is totally imported.
-Security Guard Jeffrey is totally imported.
-Ingame GUI, improved and working on a volume adjustment at the moment.
-New textures are added.
-The Priest model is complete.
-The intro has been improved, except for a tricky part. That still need working on.
About the voice actors:
One voice actor has a character now (LargoPredator -> the priest). The others I still need to give to the other voice actors.
Other stuff:
Well if all goes well a demo can come out within 1.5 to 2 months.
Well that's all for now I guess, if I think of something I forgot I'll post it ;)
Best Wishes
Post by: Mozesh on Thu 16/06/2005 17:00:30
Yeah I'm still working on it. So here's an update :)
So what did you do in the past three months?!
Well not much the last couple of weeks, I didn't feel like doing anything until I refound the joy of ags developing :P .
What have you made/changed then?
Alot!
1. I have complete redone the intro, it is different from the original and looks MUCH better  :=
2. Also I redid the entire game's backgrounds.
3. The ingame GUI has been improved.
4. Added new animations.
Also I use AGS 2.7 BETA now, which I find much better but still need to get used to.
What needs to be done before the demo can be released?
Well first of all the character sprites that are currently in the game have transparent gaps underneath them but that won't be much trouble.
2ndly Adding new rooms and another simple puzzle and create a sort of a battle, but that'll be a secret for now ;) (PS: Not a rpg like battle, no shooting battle either)
Thirdly (Is that even a word?) redoing some of the new scetchy rooms.
A battle sequence? Could you tell us more?
No.
New and improved background? Could you show us some
Voila:
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/baynes.png)
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/OLDA.png)
This is the old background of when Phil & mr. Turner talk at the office.
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/talk2C.png)
And this is the new one.
AND this is the one I am most proud of how I improved it:
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/old_pro.PNG)
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Pro1KUTSITE.png)
(Maybe these png are to big for some people just say so and Ill make jpg of them)
So a teaser?
Yep, It's a simple movie I made for the Release Something comp, it's too simple at the moment but I'll probably show it on the 25th.
If I've forgotten something I'll let you know ;)
Peace
Ralph
Unfortunatly due to my lack of motivation I fear that I won't start all over again on this same project.
I still do have some old files stored somewhere (on my server) so If and I say 'IF' I feel like starting all over again I will have some needed recources at hand.
Also I have found an old version of HH full of bugs and crappy intro included, I will try to upload it somewhere for those who want to download it.
So Horror Hospital is here by put on hold, unless I am confinced otherwise.
We should make a sticky with links to all the projects that got cancelled because of a harddrive crash.
I'm torn between feeling sorry for you for losing your game and angry at you for not backing up your data. Dammit, man!
...
I know I'm no moderator, nor will I pretend to be one, but was all that cussing really neccesary?Ã,  I mean, come on...
*Gives FlukeBlake some Lithium
ANYHOO...
Crap, man.Ã,  Sorry to hear about your HD crash.Ã,  I really wanted to see this project finished one day.Ã,  Doesn't it suck when things like that happen after you put a lot of work into something?Ã,  It's a crying shame.
On another note: Is everybody having computer problems lately?Ã,  I sure am: My blog (http://www.fuckyyoublogger.blogspot.com).
EDIT: Although, I fortunately backed up my hard drive two days before my computer died.
Damn, that's a real shame! Sorry to hear that.
At these times I'm glad I have another pc on my network, so whenever I make some progress I can back it up there...except for that time when both pc's miraculously died in a 2-day timespan... But that was just odd.
SO sorry to hear this news, Mozesh  :'(
HH was looking great - the concept, the style, everything: it's a real shame this happened
Chin up, dude, the next game you make will rock ;)
My suggestion for easy game backup - get a USB memory stick ($30 for 512Mb these days) and zip the game to it every so often. My current game is about 10Mb zipped including all source art.
Then carry it with you everywhere!
I've just had an epiphany! (or what ever you call it...)
I remember how Mozesh was thinking of abandoning this project a while back... and WE talked him into continuing on with it.  Remember?
I smell a conspiracy.  >:(
Mozesh lost interest again, and deliberately wiped his own hard drive to so that he wouldn't have to work on it anymore and nobody could talk him back into doing it.
Haha!
"Mozesh" did it in the "hard drive" with the "refrigerator magnet".
OH damn! you got me :P
Nah seriously guys, I'm pretty pissed this happened.
I still have an old version on my server (a 2nd pc on the network, but I call it my server since it also provides internet over the network) so I could start working on that one again, although it would take a long time to get where I was.
Title: Horror Hospital: Incomplete Demo Thingy Released.
Post by: Mozesh on Wed 07/09/2005 17:11:10
Why hello there!,
Just so you know, I'm releasing the incomplete demo thingy for horror hospital.
I don't really have intention of making this game any further since the Hard drive crash.
So I am just releasing this for those who want to check it out.
Known Issues:
-There are probably some bugs in the game
-Real dumb conversations that needed to be sorted out
-Missing animations
-The timing at some points is off
-Animations can keep playing when walking down after such an animation
-Hotspot interactions are not all complete
-Forgot about walking when opening in the fuseroom.
-Scaling off in some rooms.
Most of these could be fixed easily but I don't have the time for it, seriously.
Real though stuff are going to happen at school.
I had to upload it to filefront since for some reason I cannot upload on the better upload spaces  :(
Well,
Perhaps you should store your project elsewhere to prevent any further crashes.
There are lot companies that provide virtual drive storing for free.
Try those at least.
Will do, I'm much more aware of the danger of crashes now.
Oh and I forgot in that other post, HH will be put in my archive of 'abandoned' projects.
So if I think of continueing it, maybe after my current project, it will be ready to be picked up again.
Great!
My question(s):
What is to do in this demo?
Possible problems:
1) I cannot seem to go back to some areas.
example: While in hall after leaving doctor and cannot go back to the hall leading after knowing guard's accident
Yeah I know, it was possible to go back there in the crashed game. But there isn't anything of importance there so you can just move on.
What to do? find a way out of there.
Yeah I remember this demo, you sent it to me some time ago. You had done some good changes to it, and it's very impressive! Darn it I would really want to play a finished version of this but since things are how they are... :(
Anyways, very good demo! :D
Since you aren't going to continue ... I'm going to lock the thread!
If you decide to continue (recover the HD) let me know and I'll unlocky.
