Title: Unfinished Tales
Post by: Sadistyk on Sat 28/05/2005 02:05:29
I present you "Unfinished Tales" of Sherwood Studios. In this game you take the control of Thrain, a peaceful man that is traveling to the Castle of Aman. The game's backgrounds are 320X200 and I meant to make them like Sierra's games (thanks to Corby for the tutorials ;)). The game is in spanish and fully translated to english, except for the main menu (the other menus are translated).
To download the game: http://www.geocities.com/sadistyk2000/CI.zip

Here are some in-game screenshots:

P.S.: It's my first game. Please, be gentle.

Short but very fun game.

I think I may have found a bug...
Spoiler
when the knight asks the riddle, if you go to the tree with the shapeless fairy and get the spell put on the flute then go back to the knight he jsut plays the song and bypasses the answer for the riddle

I look forward to more game from ya! Thanks!!

Yeah, it's a nice game with puzzles that fit as whole in the game world.

Of course I have some critics:
You often have to run around and look wether something has changed.
The graphics doesn't look bad, but lack an own style. I think that's caused of the effects and filters and howevers you used on them.
Well, that kind of story is not really something to be excited about, pretty old.
The character protraits need some animation!

But there are also definately pros:
The walkcycle looked pretty good! Overall, the character animations are very well done.
OH yeah, and the atmosphere. I don't know wether it is intentionally or not, but I feel very lonely while playing this game. I personally love this in a game. It also make confrontations with NPCs more exctiting.

Yeah. I really think you're right about the story. The script isn't very good. The problem is that I'm short of imagination :(. I'll look for someone's help in the next game.
The lonely stuff, was intentional. I was trying to give the impression that the character's life is a sad story. Good to know it worked.
   Thanks for the critics ;).

Great game although the music got on my nerves at times, Is this a Sierra inspired game?

I agree what you said about the music. I had to take my headset off my head because of that because I almost went deaf after that hideous music sounds. :P

BTW this is a great game.Ã,  Just fix or put another music instead of that bad music and the game will be much much better. ;D

I had to restore my game because I forgot to write down the answer of the riddle. So I will have to play it again. And yes I suggest you should all write down the answer of that riddle after you get it and that was a valuable hint for you all.Ã,  :(

In some way, it's a sierra inspired game. Besides, I'm always reading books like 'The lord of the rings' or history books about ancient rome and greece, specially the ones about mythology. So, I would say that the game it's a litle mix of all.
About the music, I won't change it. The music can be hideous at some point, but I don't think it's bad.

Pardon the stupid question, but...

Do your "Unfinished Tales" have anything in common with Tolkiens work under same title?

Actually, no. Although, I did take the title from the book of Tolkien. He's one of my favourites writers ;).

I really like the game and it's style. Reminds me alot of Sierra's early VGA adventures. Though, what I don't like is the music. Oh well, at least the melodys are better than everything I've come up with. :P

The music it's definitively something that I must improve in the future :(.

Por fin un bonito juego en Castellano! Felicitaciones!
