Title: Zombie Nation
Post by: timlump on Sat 22/10/2005 03:22:45
Hello, I learned about ags off dosgames.com over 3 years ago and have been brainstorming for my game Zombie Nation,
i have made 3 versions, the final which i started 8 months ago is finished, remember it is rough since i worked on it when i had free time or nothing else to do, i could spend entire weeks on it or 1 day a month but now it is finished, and its in the internet.

Here are some screenshots:

This forum is for posting links to completed games, why not release it now since it's done?

http://www.geocities.com/zombienationsite/page1.html

It tells which one is finished.

Ok, I'm trying this game but I am cannot seems to pick anything and I am just able walking. I did spoken with major before leaving.

I hope timlump,

Can explain.

Post by: timlump on Sat 22/10/2005 11:09:58
Zombie nation is supposed to be more of a story, it starts with you looking around and near the end you see zombies.

The start is a little slow because it is supposed to set the scene and i also made it about 7 months before the end.
It gets better.
Title: You downloaded the wrong one!!!!!!!
Post by: timlump on Sat 22/10/2005 11:13:20
You downloaded a shitty little tester at 340x240, with only 6 rooms and nothing happening,

ohh no no, the proper one is 800x600 and has about 76 rooms , the crappy one has been online for ages i've only just put the real one up.
Make sure you downloaded the one at the bottom.

Really, why not give some proper screenshots and the game itself?
I'd like to play it. I like zombies... ;D

im still trying to work out some things with the game.

The original thread is called Zombie Nation. Automatically when you post a reply the subject is Re: Zombie Nation. You can change that, but it always seems from the forum index that there is a new game, cause the word Re is missing. Anyway, we're waiting for the game... ;)

This is a strange thread, is there actaully a game released here?

Well, I couldn't agree with you more on this, squinky!
Title: Re: Zombie Nation
Post by: timlump on Sat 22/10/2005 21:34:37
I haven't linked the game because I'm worried about legal issues,
my game contains music which i got free from amazon.com since they give you some unknown music groups for free,
I have given thanks to amazon in my credits but am not sure if I'm allowed to post it,
although some people downloaded it before i wanted them to.
Is it ok to use the music if my game is FREE and i have given thanks to the provider?
Title: Re: Zombie Nation
Post by: timlump on Sat 22/10/2005 21:37:10
I could probably remove the music but it would ruin the mood ,can you help?
Title: Re: Zombie Nation
Post by: Nikolas on Sat 22/10/2005 21:41:47
Check what amazon says about the tracks. If it says that they are public property or shareware or anything like that then no you don't have a problem.

The fact that it's free doesn't give you automatically the right to use the music.

But frankly I doubt anyone will bother...

If anyone cares, and if it'll clear up confusion, it's in the archive now: http://aafiles.bicycle-for-slugs.org/full/Zombie%20Nation.rar

I try to resolve the confusion because Tim Lump seems to be unable to do it himself.

On this (http://www.geocities.com/zombienationsite/page1.html) page you can find the links to two different versions of his game Zombie Nation.
The first is the lo-res, unfinished one which he calls the original because it's the first he made. The link to the download of this one is more towards the top of the page, directly under the picture.
The other version is his second try to convert this idea into a game, also finished this time and in a higher resolution. The download link can be found on the bottom of the page.

Short Summary:[/b]
Old, unfinished, lo-res version: http://www.geocities.com/zombienationsite/download
New, finished, hi-res version: http://www.geocities.com/zombienationsite/zm.html

Title: Re: Zombie Nation

i am uploading the proper version now please check out the site later to get it,
the version before was never intended to go on.
Can you please replace the archive version with the new one,
because this one has really been bothering me.
If you comply the new version should be available tonight.

Ok, now I'm totally lost. Are you uploading a version 1.1 or something? Or did you upload the wrong version? The archive contains the "new" version, not the "old" one.

I'll upload the new version when it's up.

BTW, you don't have to double/triple-post. You can just EDIT your previous posts.

do you know that the picture your using is from an irish movie called "american adventure" i think, i know that because i watched a video about it but i think the studio is gone now.

"Secret Of Nimh", directed by Don Bluth. I think he was also behind "An American Tail", which explains your mistake. Ayuh, I know.

the upload may be late, the stupid server is full
www.savefile.com
it gives you unlimited space but the americans block it at this time.
Title: Re: Zombie Nation
Post by: timlump on Sat 22/10/2005 23:37:33
the game is up and available NOW
at www.geocities.com/zombienationsite or www.zombienation.tk

Sorry for the confusion but i wanted everything to be set.

I have downloaded the game and I am having trouble making any advancements
Spoiler
I cannot interact with cardboard box nor the auto-tank. Also, went down a stairway and could not go in any direction after reaching the bottom.   any suggestions on what I am not doing or should be doing?

Title: how to proceed
Post by: timlump on Sun 23/10/2005 02:26:11
the auto-tank and cardboard box are just scenery.
The stairs bir is a little confusing because of the perspective ,just keep clicking around at the ground below it and he will walk there and hopefully to the next room,
sorry for the confusion my game testers told me the same thing but i never bothered changing it.

If you are stuck after the military come just take the lift anf go back to the room with the note and stand near the door, wait for the military to come then.

I don't quite understand, by uploading a "new version" did you mean you're making a new version of the completed game, I downloaded the game from the bottom link and don't want to redownload it unless it's really updated. Also, remember to edit your FIRST post to match the forum requirements once you have the links ready.

I just played a few seconds of it, all I'll say is, 800*600 is completely unnecessary, 320*240 is more than enough.

The last version is corrupt i think so you should delete it and download the new version, which has been fixed, although the music was removed since it was corrupt.

The game files were corrupted? Or the archive was? I remember I could extract it without any problem.

the one in archive is corrupted i think so could you extract it and replace it with the one from the links In my posts

So many problems. Such a weird thread...

I'm not a moderator, but I would honestly propose, either starting a new thread, or if not, maybe deleting all post and let the creator make the first post a right one, with the correct game and all. This is getting rather silly.

Sorry for being harsh, but 2 pages and still we don't know which game to download?

Title: which one to download

Download the one at www.zombienation.tk

Its the correct one
any other place is the incorrect one.

Post by: jane on Sun 23/10/2005 11:46:23
Well I downloaded the latest one from the link in Timlumps latest post..............it took about 12 minutes to download (I have quite a quick connection] and then all I could do was walk about - I can't talk to anyone or interract with anything?

Jane,

There is already a tread in the hints section.

Title: Re: Zombie Nation
Post by: jane on Sun 23/10/2005 12:19:49
I don't need hints on how to play the game - I want to know if anyone else is having problems with the game.  I can't talk to anyone, all I can do is jump off plane and walk up the road to burnt out tank - unable to do or interract with anything else   ???
Title: Re: Zombie Nation
Post by: timlump on Sun 23/10/2005 12:35:09
The correct one is the one with no music since there was a problem with the music,
the one without the music is the safe one,
Don't worry i will try to release one with the correct music, at a later date.

The correct one is at:
www.zombienation.tk

the first part of the game requires a lot of walking you have to walk to the left of the tank screen to continue.
