Just like the title says.
CLICK HERE (http://www.americangirlscouts.org/agswiki/Category:AGS_Beginners%27_FAQ) to view the AGS Wiki BFAQ, and add your question, and its answer. The great thing about a Wiki is the power of peer review and editing, as well as reverting back to older versions if something's funny.
If you come across a thread that you feel belongs in the Beginners' FAQ, then please reply to this thread with a link to that thread (which you can copy to the clipboard right from your address/URL bar in IE/FireFox/Opera/whatever).
I'm finding that I don't have a lot of time anymore to go through all the threads and reply to the simpler questions with references to the BFAQ, before a million other users have replied with answers that could easily be found in the BFAQ. I sometimes miss entire pages of threads.
So if you find any thread that you feel is a common enough question to warrant being added to the BFAQ, then please, by all means, reply here and post the URL to it.
Thank you! :)
I don't think this is covered in the BFAQ:

The Problem "digital sound driver not found" should be ammended with the fix that I have to do, which is, as hotspot says: This happens to me sometimes. If you have a program open that is already using the digital sound thingy-ma-gig it will happen.
(Closing Windows Media Player)

UPDATED on July 28th, 2005 - Thanks Scummbuddy (and Hotspot as well)!

It is now!
ADDED on July 28th, 2005 HERE (http://bfaq.xylot.com/#audio07). - Thanks Nethros!
Thanks guys, I'll add them all when I get a chance. There are also quite a few [SOLVED] threads right now that should be added to the BFAQ. I've been extremely busy lately with another web site (www.xylot-themes.com), but now that that's done and out of the way, I can return to moderatin' and BFAQin'. ;)
Not the most common question but I think it would be nice to have on reference.

I reckon this isn't there yet, or atleast I couldn't find it: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=22190.0
This maybe on sound.

Not sure if this belongs in the BFAQ, but it might be nice to have more of a warning, than just that there're no sprites included:

You need to fix the link for the "The Big List of Paint Programs!". It points to the old agsforums.com when it needt to go to adventuregamestudio.co.uk. At least I can find (http://www.agsforums.com/search.php?cachekey=1128480826&rc=true&pterms=&pmethod=erm=Chris+Jones) Chris Jones for only $9.95!

(among others)
Running agsedit.exe directly from the zip file before unzipping everything first seems to be a common beginner's mistake.
I turned it into an ebook, which you can download here:
http://www.filegone.com/uvue
Thanks and enjoy!
BTW Please download atleast once every28 days so link stays good.
I'm assuming that with the new addition of the AGS Wiki that any new questions that come up can be added by anybody, right? ;D The weight of the BFAQ is off my shoulders! Yippee!!! :D
Why not link the wiki in the top post?
Okay, I shall. But how should I word the first post? Tell people to add a question they feel is needed in the BFAQ themselves? Is that safe? :P
It's sorta safe, since we can revert changes in the WIKI.
The page for Graphics, Characters, Text (http://americangirlscouts.org/agswiki/Graphics%2C_Characters%2C_Text_%26_Rooms) is missing. And there's no history page for it either....sooo....?

I know this isnt my topic, and its off topic. However, i notice alot of "read the manual, read the FAQ" answers around here with littel help. As far as i was concerned i read all there was to read and refered to the manual as much as i could.
Turns out, the manual you are talking about is the Wiki am i correct?
I understand you guys dont like waisting you time answering questions that can be easily solved by reading the BFAQ, but if you want people to read it, you should link to it from the site. As far as i can tell theres no direct link to it and definetly not an obvious one. The FAQ on the site is the kind of thing visitors read. The manual in ACSs help function is not user friendly. Ive goten over several problems from using the wiki that I couldnt find help for in the forum or on the site.
Just a suggestion. Sorry if its outa place :P

Sorry if I missed the memo (I haven't been around here for a while), but what the heck happened to the BFAQ page? It's gone! All I get is a stupid "404 error" page. This was a necessary resource to me. Please help!
Thanks.
I think the WIKI is not restored yet after the maintence, just wait a bit.
Oh, so this is a semi-recent thing? Ok, thanks.
Anyone have a status-report on when it might be back up?
I discovered AGS four days ago, so this is bad timing for me, especially since most the useful-looking call for help topics in this forum are simply answered with links to the BFAQ.
Thanks :)
EDIT: Ignore my question. It is back up :D
Error report: The link to the BFAQ in the first post of the thread points to an empty wiki page,
The link should point to http://www.americangirlscouts.org/agswiki/Category:AGS_Beginners%27_FAQ
instead of http://www.americangirlscouts.org/agswiki/Index.php/Category:AGS_Beginners%27_FAQ
Fixed. I should check on my own posts from time to time. I haven't been a mod in this forum in years.
As there has been no activity in this thread for more than 10 years now I think I'll unstick and lock it for now.
The BFAQ (https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/wiki/Category:AGS_Beginners'_FAQ) still contains valuable resources for us, but as time moves on some of the entries may become irrelevant with recent versions of AGS, which may cause confusions to especially beginners (the original target of the BFAQ).
The FAQ (https://adventuregamestudio.github.io/ags-manual/FAQ.html) in the AGS Manual is being worked on at the moment and such basic questions may be added in the future.
@Terran: If you are still going to maintain the original BFAQ just drop me a PM and I will unlock this thread again.
