Title: GAMESEEK - find old/missing adventure games
Post by: m0ds on 26 Sep 2004, 10:53
FOR THE LOVE OF CJ DO NOT LINK TO COMMERCIAL ADVENTURE GAMES (like Monkey Island)

Are you looking for an AGS game, whether it's old or whether the current link to it simply doesn't work? Well then, this is the thread for you - because here you can ask!

TEH BEST PLACES TO FIND AN OLD AGS GAME ARE

http://www.agsarchives.com/

http://gamesolutions.efzeven.nl/downloads/

And Nimbus - find it on the agsarchives website!

You are still welcome to post your requests here. For example;

"Where can I get Flloyd SB?"
"The link to game x is broken, does anyone have a different link?"
"An author has removed their game, does anyone have a copy?"

IF YOU HAVE A LINK to a game that someones asked about, please use the UBB code and put the title of the game in bold. Eg;

Petteri Quest
http://www.geocities.com/doesntexist/petteri.zip

That way people can quickly find answers to their posts...

We'll see how this goes :D

m0ds

NOTE! The links in this thread may eventually die also, so just ask again :)

Okay, I'll set the ball rolling... anyone know if there's a mirror to 2ma2's 'Who killed Kenny Rogers?', because 2ma2's website is no longer online and all of his download links are no longer working.

Thanks!

Cool! I'm looking for Quest for Orgy.
Title: Re: GAMESEEK - find adventures

I've got a whole bunch (100's) of AGS games from the dawn of time, I uploaded Permanent Daylight & Who Killed Kenny Rogers here:

http://members.lycos.co.uk/timosity/2ma2.html

I'm sure Linus Larsson wouldn't mind, but it's only temporary, if someone wants to host it, I can't give permission but go for it. At least it's now accessable to a few people that care.

I don't think you can hotlink from here so don't bother trying.

I'll keep an eye out for any other games people list that I may have hidden away somewhere.

Maybe someone with a decent server can collect these lost archives and have a site dedicated to re-found AGS games. Just an idea

Whoo, thanks a bunch, Timosity.

I was listening to AGS Overture and a game called 'Nomedon Inc.' is mentioned in that song, but I haven't found this game anywhere. If someone has it, I'd like to try it.

And m0ds, :P

http://membres.lycos.fr/agisite/autre2.htm

The morale of the story? If you can't find it, type the name into Google.  Easy!

Well... except for Nomedon Inc.  The only reference to that I found was on the 2001 AGS Awards registered games list.

QfO is hilarious! "So you thought she is a virgin?!?!" See, now if there was a game like that, with a good story and dialog and action ;) then I'd definately play it.

Or maybe make it...

I wonder why QfO has "King's Quest IV" as the title. Maybe it was a little fun before working on a KQ4 remake? :P

Well, Help me please!

I'm looking for The Uncertainty Machine and Adventures of Fatman. (The Home of the Underdogs link to Fatman worked, but I got a CRC error while extracting).
Title: Re: GAMESEEK - find adventures
Post by: TerranRich on 29 Sep 2004, 15:10
The link for The Uncertainty Machine is defunct. Until it's fixed, I will be starting a page for defunct AGS Games links, where I mirror the games I already have...

http://www.terran-x.com/agsgames/TUMv11.zip

As for Fatman, I have the CD version. I'll see what I can do about compressing it all and uploading it to my server space as well.

Is it illegal for under-16s to buy things in your country? And even if it is, does that mean its then OK to steal instead? When I was your age and I wanted to buy something mail order, I went to the post office and got a postal order for the amount... or asked my parents to get it for me after I gavce them the money.

I really need do get my pass, i mean it is not a crime, and if it is, since when???
also i think you have to be 18 because when you get this pass, you can sell things, so i think thats why you need to be 18, if it is so, then lying about your age to buy one thing, will not be a crime

It is a crime, called "fraud". In the UK, under-18s are not extended any kind of credit (and that includes things that might not seem as credit, such as switch cards that give you 3 days of credit, and paying for phone calls AFTER you make them... I know, I tried to get a BT phone line when I was a 17-year-old student) and the reason is that under-18s as minors are not deemed capable to make an informed decision about their ability to pay back a debt and thus any debts against them are NOT ENFORCABLE. So obviouslt, any lender would be nuts trusting to lend to anyone under 18.

Similarly, contracts with under-18s are not enforcable unless they are made with parental consent. ebay is all about making binding contracts  between buyers and sellers, so once again under-18s can effectively withdraw bids with no repercussions and thus screw up the whole auction system.

Why not persuade an over-18 person you know to bid for you and then pay them the money in cash?

I have been searching the internet for games within the police genre.  The serious side of it, you know games like Police Quest 1-3, Blue Force, Pleughberg.  Those are the only games I have been able to come up with, and am curious as to if those are the only games that follow that genre, or if there are others out there (possibly AGS games?) that I have missed.  Any help is greatly appreciated...

gameseek is for legit copies of games, mostly ags or independent adventure games. there are exceptions such as Flight of the Amazon Queen.

Day of the Tentacle, along with every other single LucasArts/LucasFilm Game is not abandonware, nor anything else, except available on eBay, or other ways or correctly purchasing the game.

This one goes for community oldies. I know the game never got finished, but anyone remember the name for the project that was being worked on by Captain Mostly, m0ds, Yahtzee and Abstauber, I think. The website for the game was still up couple of years ago. Just thought I'd ask, every now and then I suddenly remember some old projects and want to find out about them.

While we are at the subject, does anyone still remember an old AGS game called 'House Quest'? I remember it was one of the first AGS games I played, but the game has seemed to disappear mysteriously... also, do you remember who made that game?

Post by: Redmax on 16 Jun 2005, 02:20
Hello, this is a list of games from this site which seem to be unavailable. I'm trying to collect as many as I can before they all disappear and, so far, I've found the following to be missing:

- EBI - Elimination by Improvisation (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=137)
- Escape From a Small Room 1: The walls are closing in (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=212)
- Harrys Strange Day (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=211)
- Henk Stroem in Lost In Cellar (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=344)
- Marty Chonks In Dances With Camels (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=334)
- MOOSE RAGE -- PART 2 (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=195)
- Mr. Grey's Greyt Adventure (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=106)
- P.D. (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=85)
- Quikstrike89's Stupid Test Game (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=139)
- Slime Quest for Pizza (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=172)
- The Island (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=26)

There are others, but I was fortunate to find the author's email address, or their profile here in the forums.

Any help, for any of the above games, is welcome. Thanks!

[EDIT] Added one more game to the list, clarified what I've been doing, and made the post easier to read (I think).

I have most of those, Red, but uploading is not a trivial task for me and my connection. I will try it anyway if you don't have MSN, but first I have to ask if you do. Or eMule. If you have neither, it's cool, but I don't know how long it will be before they're up...

I have:

EBI
ESCAPE FROM SMALL ROOM
HENK STROEM
MARTY CHONKS
MOOSE RAGE
MR. GREY
SLIME QUEST
THE ISLAND

That "Stupid test game" I don't know, but I have something called "test.exe" by VaporWare, don't know if it's the same thing. PD and HARRY'S STRANGE DAY I used to have, but I think I lost them and made no real attemot to get them back - they weren't really games, as I remember.

I search games from HT Software. The most famous game of them is Syndicate 2049 (http://www.flashgames.de/index.php?gratisspiele=355).

Sadly, the of them site has shut down and is replaced by a real company.

The list of those games is here (http://www.create-games.com/profile.asp?id=12). I hope someone has them, I searched them already for a long time, but had no luck so far.

I can't remember the link right now, but check out http://www.freewebs.com/skimbleshanks/misc.htm and scroll down to the last item. It'll link you to an archive of games. Check it out, it might have whichever game you're looking for.

Double posting, egads. I know. It's because there's a 3-day span between the previous post and this one, and because this is totally unrelated.

The author of MMM Ep.25 has deleted his own file (!). Has ANYONE managed to get the file while it was still up? Please share, it's for the archive.

I'm really curious. I've got a small collection myself on the last HD, but I don't think I'm even near the number it could be with Amateur adventure games.

I know someone already asked about this a while back, but just in case the situation has changed or someone's run across it--anyone have a copy of Harrys [sic] Strange Day (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=211), by any chance?

By the way, on the other hand, I do happen to have a copy of a game that someone was asking about that isn't on the bicycle-for-slugs page (http://aafiles.bicycle-for-slugs.org/)--DROI0 (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=365).  If anyone still wants it, I'd be happy to e-mail it to them--and I can send Rui a copy for the bicycle-for-slugs archive, too, if he wants.  Although I should warn anyone who's been looking for the game that you really haven't been missing much.  It's a very monotonous game, with very little to do, and what little there is to do doesn't make much sense, and the game's so riddled with bugs you can't do it anyway.  (On the plus side, the game does have Debug mode left on, so you can teleport between rooms and get some idea for how it was supposed to have worked.)  All in all, it's pretty much unplayable, and one of the worst AGS games I've seen (and I've played the majority of the games listed on the AGS games page, so I have a pretty firm basis for comparison).  Still, if you want to have the game just for completeness' sake, or something, like I said I can send you a copy.

Seeking a standard url for the game "The Oracle"

Hi to all! Does anyone know if the AGS game "The Oracle" is available in site with a standard url?

Something like www.site'sname.com/sites_extension/oracle.zip

and NOT

www.site'sname.com/ABCDXYZEFGH7JKIOPE34_ORACLE.ZIP

Meaning,  sites excluding the likes of fileplanet or filesharing or rapidsharing. They generally randomly generate a url which gets expired in a few hours or couple of days or sometimes minutes! I have a snail-slow dialup connection and I've got to use download managers and can't complete such a large download in less than a fortnight maybe or more. (Doing every 1mb or so in a sitting). I tried looking for the game in

http://aafiles.bicycle-for-slugs.org/.

But its not there. I check that site often. But I guess its a large game so they have'nt put it yet. I'm not sure who manages the site or how to request for a game to be made available there.

I really want to play the game as its bound to be one of the best games of the year. Any help please?

I was looking though the website and found 3 games I would like to try. But none of the links work for the games. The games are by someone called Viktor. All the links are dead. So I was wondering if anyone has the games:
-King of rock 1 (i found out the the 2. is only a demo)
 -Hello! Taxi!
 -Maniac Apartment

I tried to get in touch with Viktor but he doesnt reply to my personal messages or e-mail.
I hope I posted this right and that someone can help me.

You should download the latest edition here which contains the missing movie files (originally a separate download)

i am looking for an old game I found on a shareware cd with 1000+ games on it.
It involved a witch and you start out in her hut. I remember there is a cauldron and tons of spells and ingredients. You go outside and there is a mod of people after you. You cast a mist spell on yourself and you can float into some torture chamber. I remember the end you fight satan with your dagger. I forgot the name but it was the best adventure game I had played at the time. If you know what I speak of please reply. Thank you

I'm looking for a game, which name I forgot.

You played a nerdy boy who wanted to play rpg with his friends, but they couldn't, so he had to make'em! One of this friends had to take a karate class, and then the character had to wear some karate clothes (kimono) and take his friend out while something distracted the teacher - or something like that. There were scenarios like a rpg stuff store, the boy's house, a karate dojo, a gym, the streets, etc.
Can't find it anywhere.

Me memory says the game's name was something like "no ordinary joe", but I didn't find anything like that!

Hm... I've searched for walkthroughs and found the name, it was No-Action Jackson, a classic of the AGS, the game that made we want to do games in AGS - thought I never could anything decent!

Anyway, thanks, I'll not delete my posts and leave this game as a recomendation!

I'm looking for a game set in the end of the 80's. I never played but it received good reviews back in time.

EDIT : So I'm making nightmares since then.

Clue :
1 : Your side-kick is a cat on a different window.
EDIT : Only the face, and the cat is black N white.

2 : If you piss him off, he can ask you to type 'I'm sorry' 10 times before the game continue. He can also show you his B***.
3 : sounds like a cop/private eye story.
4 : As far as I remember : not many color.
5 : Maybe never released for the PC. Can be one of those strange european computers like Amstradt.

Plllllz!
EDIT : If anyone have a clue about it PM - Me.

Ok, I am not making a new thread for this, I just hope I post to the right place.
I've been buzy and away from adventure gaming for a while and could use some help with finding a good game(s). What I need, is a game with decent/good graphics and some storyline, preferrably freeware and the best if AGS (doesn't have to). Any suggestions? Sci-fi and western games are the best!

Hey, I'm looking to play the demo of m0ds' GAMES GALORE.

I've PMed him a couple of times about but haven't got a response. Seen as the GIP thread is semi-old, I didnt want to bump it, so I thought I'd post here instead. The link to the demo in the GIP thread says it's been taken down 'for a day or so', but that was back in May lol.

Thanks for any help  :)

Ok I know someone mentioned earlier about Book Of Spells but the link goes to 4 separate downloads(part1topart4). But the version I am after is the one where all parts were made into one. Not 4 parts. The Greek AGS website use to have it but no longer do. When I click on any of their downloads they just go to a blank page or back to the ags website. I have used mozilla and internet explorer. I did download the all-in-one version before but my hardrive was wiped and I forgot to copy it over to my secondary hardrive. Does anyone know where I can get the all-in-one version? Thanks!

I was looking through the old 'Completed games' pages and I saw 'The Tower'. It's quite old so all the download links don't work anymore.

I was wondering if anyone still has that game and could they upload it? I really want to try it.

If the creator is reading this, can you re-upload it please? I'd be very thankful!

I've got a copy; it's an odd little game, but kind of fun--though the ghost levels are danged hard.  (I managed to beat the game, but it took me a few tries.)  Unfortunately, it's on my computer at home and I'm not home at the moment, so I can't upload it right now.  But I'll try to get it uploaded tomorrow.

(Stupid question: Is there a site I should upload it to?  I mean, I could upload it to my personal website, I guess, but I'd rather not if there's a better place to upload it...)

Though...wait...according to this thread (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=28165.0) it's in the bicycles-for-slugs archive anyway.  (Just checked...yup.  It's there.)  So you don't need me to upload it after all.  It's available right here (http://aafiles.bicycle-for-slugs.org/non-adventure/The%20Tower%20(non-adventure).rar).  (See what a little forum search'll get you? ;))

A few years ago I downloaded a Fan made Police Quest Remake
(It wasnt, I repeat 'was not' the Sierra VGA remake)

Its almost identical to the original EGA(?) version (you know the stick pixell stick arms and legs version), but this one has more colour and depth, etc.

I have searched all over the internet but Im not having any luck finding it and most of the search results are being over shadowed by the recently released sierra collections, I figure if someones going to have it or know where to download it it should be here :)

The file name might have been Marty.zip and I'm pretty sure the release date was between mid '01 through '02 and possible early '03.

It might have actually been announced on the EZ-Board forums, come to think of it.

The only other info I can give is the old site. (http://www.geocities.com/snake_pit_entertainment/Marty-main.html)

It could be hidden in bicylce for sluggs since it's contemporaries are there but I just can't seem to find this one.

Not an old game, but I'm trying to get Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy. I'm currently living in China, and the two DL sites I can find (the ones linked from the AGS page for the game) are blocked by the country or my ISP, not sure which. I've tried running the download through proxies, with and without Download Helper 4.0, but it calls the DL complete after about 400-600 KB every time.

Does anyone have an alternate download location for Nelly Cootalot, or is anyone with the .zip file available willing to ship it over to me via Gmail (addy shouldn't be hidden, PM me if you can't find it)? I'd be very grateful.

ok, long shot this one, but I remember a game from ages ago that I would like to play again, but haven't the slightest idea what it's called.

It was trad point and click, and I remember the game was played in a really small window that you couldn't make larger.

Anyways, you started off in a house, and I remember that something (possibly door key) was hidden in the toilet, in the cistern perhaps? Once you got out of the house, it went onto your back steps which were concrete and I think there was a old bin and some graffiti.

The only other location I remember was some big high-rise with a shop that you went into and talked to the guy behind the counter. Would love to play this again, as I never got that far, but like I say I can't remember even vaguely what it was called. Any help?

Odd request here, because I'm not really looking for it, but more sort of 'wondering if I'm losing my mind and whether not this actually existed' because I can't find a mention of it anywhere. But back before Yahtzee was an internet shock job I recall him working on a game that had a name like "Dave and Perry: Paranormal Investigators". A three room demo was all that was made and it was decidedly non-mindblowing.

I was just planning to reference it in something for the sake of complete obscurity, but now I'm seriously wondering if anyone at all knows what it was.

I'm trying to find the Carver Island games.  There was 2 of them - The Secret Of Carver Island, and Carver Island 2: Mrs Rodriguiz Revenge.

The download links here (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=search&sterm=carver+island) don't work,  :( but I would dearly love to play them again.

Does anyone still have them?   8)

Hello!

..So I decided to try and get started on a RON-game and got the idea that I should play through every game in the series for insperation. I immediatly went to ultimate game solutions (http://gamesolutions.efzeven.nl/) to find almost all of them :D Thanks Leon!

However, there were some broken links.. Namely the links for:

And links were missing for Gaitos: the paws of fate and D. Jones - deceased

So, does anyone here have any of these games or know of any working links?

That reminds me... I should fix those...
Anyway, you can find them on the official RoTN site... (http://www.realityonthenorm.info/games.php)
If not, shout again and I'll upload.

By the way, good luck with playing them all. I still have trouble getting some of them to run properly.

I dunno if it is any good or not, I never got very far in it, and it seemed kinda clumsy. But Nosferatu (http://aafiles.bicycle-for-slugs.org/full/Nosferatu.rar) is the only one that comes to my mind, really.

However if you're happy to play a good thriller without vampires rather than an awkward one with vampires, play Mind's Eye (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=646).

I am actually not sure if I may ask people about old non-AGS games here; thread title does not mention AGS at all :)

Anyway, I wonder if anyone can give me a clue about what was the game I vaguely remember, its title at least. It is really old one, 80-ies or early 90-ies perhaps. It was a horror adventure. No more than 16 colours. 1st person view (all static pictures ofcourse). There was some mansion to explore; you could move around by clicking on schema beyond the scene view, where available exits were shown as squares.
I remember at least two scenes quite clearly, there was a bedroom with two little girls playing some game, don't know an english word for that, its when children slap their palms in some rythm; if you approach they reveal themselves as vampires (not sure), attack you and kill you with knife or something :=
Another scene is a silent guardian on a cemetry, a dark figure just standing and watching you, if you speak to him three times it rips out your heart.

A funny game indeed ;)

Any thoughts? Nothing rings a bell?

Sweet! I didn't realise he was back in action. I hosted his site for a little while until I moved servers and he took time off to do his 3d (which is pretty stunning btw). Glad to see he is up and running again.

As a self confessed fan of DNG (probably my favourite AGS game) this makes me happy.

Anyways here is my effort to keep on topic. For as long as my host stays up (it sometimes gets suspended cos i forget to pay the bill), you can get Da New Guys from here http://indiegamesource.net/modules.php?name=Downloads&min=50&cid=1

Also whilst the site is pretty much dead whilst I revamp it all with a whole new design, the downloads section does contain some older games, some hard to find. Feel free to whore them out to your hearts content

Hey,
I'm also looking for a non-AGS game. It has to be from the 80s or early 90s and I'm not sure if it even was an adventure game.
Here's what I remember:
- It had quite neat graphics
- it started with a fortune teller machine (or at least I think so)
- it's possible to travel in time (!)
- you start in the victorian times (or was it a save game that brought me there) at a train station
- i think you could somehow use the train, it brought you to the future and turned into a subway
- In the future it turned into a cheesy, unfair platformer, once you leave the subway station
- it was the game where I first heard of the word "token" :D I think you needed a token for the train and/or for the fortune teller.

Does that ring a bell?
I can't get that game out of my head... even after decades ;)

@Crimson Wizard
I'm pretty sure you're talking about "Last Half of Darkness"

I liked that one too although I could never finish it.

I'm looking for the AGS game "Into the Light". I've searched all over the forums and can't find any trace of it! Wondering if the keepers of AGS's lost treasures might have it in their cavernous vaults?

Thanks muchly in advance!

Hey, I just remembered an adventure game that I played when I was about 6 years old that I can't seem to find...

All I remember about it is that there was one puzzle that you had to throw a piece of meat past a dog so it wouldn't kill you but if you ever went back to where the dog was after passing it once it would kill you.  I recall the game being pretty frightening but then I was 6 so for all I know it could have been a comedy game.  I'm 19 so the game would be about 13 years old assuming that I'm right on the age I was when I played it.

Also, it was pretty low-res as far as I can recall.

Thanks!!

Then it would be Hugos House of Horrors

Yes! That's it.  Sadly it doesn't seem as good as I remember it being and the interface is clunky. (go figure.) I guess anything entertains a 6 year old.  ::) Thanks so much for the help abstauber I appreciate it!

Also have you these ones: "Legend of Rovendale 2: Mystic Island" and "AS Racing Manager" (by Endrews)?

Still hunting for Larry. Sorry.
AS Racing can be found on my site (http://gamesolutions.efzeven.nl/downloads/). You requested that one in October 2009 already? Legend of Rovendale 2 has only be released in Russian (afaik) so I don't have that one. Sorry.

There is... or was, at the moment.

Here are the details. (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=30441.msg392982#msg392982)

But:

No, it's an abandoned alpha with absolutely zero gameplay so I didn't really bother to keep it around.  It's one of those projects I regretted starting almost immediately.

I know that the game still exists out there because it appears in indexes. I now need to contact the right people to get the game. Still on it..

Nope not confused cause I'm also looking for the Heroine's quest demo as well lol, I was just gonna ask for that later as I wanted the hero 6 one more lol.

If you click on the second link in my previous msg you can see screenshots of the Hero 6 forest demo.

It is also mentioned here (http://www.anthenor.envy.nu/sections/hero6.html) (7th news item down). That's only 1 example, I've also seen the forest demo (not the basic waterfall one) announced in news across many old and dead fan project websites. Also seen it mentioned in multiple forums. They all say the same thing, a forest demo with muiple screens where you can interact with a couple of characters and solve a quest. Problem is they all just link to www.hero6.com which doesn't do any good as the demo doesn't seem to be there anymore.

I noticed some people asking for Quest for Orgy earlier in this thread, until then I'd never even heard of it lol. The links are long dead. Does anyone have it?

I've also noticed 2 different titles:
Quest for Orgy I: Sodom, Graham and Gomorrha
Quest for Orgy I: So You Want to be a Porn Star

Is it the same game with a name change or did 2 different authors use the same main title?

Also notice 2 sequels were in the making but I'm guessing they never got finished:
Quest for Glory II:  Sex Slaves of Shapeir
Quest for Orgy III: Castle of Dr. Pain

lol@the dodgy titles

Oh and I'm still on the hunt for that Hero6 forest demo lol

I have been trying to locate UFOS (Gnap), Beavis and Butthead Virtual Stupidity, and Duckman Legend of the Fall for quite some time now.  Homeoftheunderdogs.org used to have them for download before they became a lame information site.  If anyone knows how to locate these games (especially UFOs) for download or for purchase,  I would be VASTLY grateful.  Thanks in advance!

Not sure about their commercial status though....  :-\

Cat: that would be great!
I don't need these game asap, so take your time. ;)

I just hope some people have these "broken link-games" somewhere on there HD and are willing to upload them.
At the end it would be great if *all* ags games can be offered from AGSArchives.com.

So thanx already for your contribution Cat!

@Abstauber:

Yes, leon knows about the agsarchive project and I also got the games from his bicycle-mirror.
Still lot's of games and demos are missing... also Leon doesn't collect demo's, only full versions.
But maybe he has some of these missing games somewhere, who knows.  :)

Anyway:
Thanx for Lassi Quest 2 [Teaser Demo] and I wasn't even aware that there was a "Lassi Quest 1 [Original Finish version]"! ;)

I might also still have Colin Simpson leaves employment on my other pc which I might post at some point.

Here is another list of games (http://gamesolutions.efzeven.nl/files/TXT lists.rar), mixed AGS, demo and other free stuff. I can get my hands on most of them (if I don't already have them) so have a browse and if there's anything of interest in it, let me know.

Can't promise anything speedy, but it will be delivered at some point.  :)

I assume these are the full versions? :).
The ones in my list are the demo versions so it doesn't really help me :(.

I'll have to go through this list once more myself to take out any of them that are demos of games released. As I won't really need them. Update the list anyway to show if the game is a demo or not.

Thanks, but I'm afraid that's not the one I'm after. I originally posted a version without music, then replaced the link with version 1.2 (which has a couple of midis, and a few minor gameplay changes based on people's feedback) about a week later, so the original was really only available for that first week. That's why it's a such long shot.
Thanks anyway, though.

The game was quite dark in tone, and reminded me a lot of Gabriel Knight.  It wasn't a Gabriel Knight fan game - the characters and story were unique.  But it was obviously inspired by it.

I think it was an AGS commercial game.

Does anyone remember this?

The McCarthy Chronicles (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1243/)? :) well, just a random guess.
A bit more details maybe?

Thanks Crimson, but that's not the game.

I'm sure the main guy had blonde hair, with a long black coat.

Man in long coat in commercial game? Gemini Rue (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1407/) :).
Can't remember anything else at the moment, maybe someone else will.

Sorry, no.  Diamonds In The Rough is a fantastic game, but 'my' game looks much darker, like Gabriel Knight.

EDIT
Found it at last.  It's John Sinclair:  Voodoo In London

Seems the game was never finished though, which is a pity.   :undecided:

As far as I can read there are only demos available, never full releases. One of them can be found here (http://www.duckbutcher.damproductions.org/) but since I can't get past the opening screen, I'm not sure whether this is 1 or 2..

[update]
Digging further, I have the feeling that this file contains both episodes in one game. According to the original site there was only one download for both episodes and should be around 40Mb. Exactly what demo2.zip is...

[update2]
Just had a quick playthrough and I can confirm that this file contains both parts of the demo.

I randomly remembered this game today, and I have no idea what it's called.  It's driving me crazy, so I appeal to the knowledge of AGSers!

I remember playing a demo for this game in the mid-90s, possibly 1994/1995.  I distinctly remember running it on a brand new PC with Windows 95 on it, and it was a Windows game.  The music was MIDI and very cheesy and repetitive.  It had very silly voice acting.  The very few details I remember are these:

- In the demo, you played as an anthropomorphic ape who is red and wears a light blue outfit.  He had a headband and shorts and his hair was kind of like a mohawk.  I think there was more than one playable character, but you only controlled him in the demo.
- The graphics were very bright and colorful, and the sprites were hi-res and cartoony.
- One of the puzzles involved rescuing your friend who was a pig from a spit roast.
- Another puzzle involved hitting a gong, where a grouchy old guy would show up and say "Hey! Who disturbs my rest and stuff?" in a lame attempt to be funny.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hopefully I can place one more order :)
Is anyone aware of a version of Quest for glory 4 1/2 that would work under XP?
Title: Re: GAMESEEK - find old/missing adventure games
Post by: Leon on 07 Aug 2013, 01:58
The version I've downloaded from agsarchives works fine under XP. Only thing is you need an acsetup.cfg which is a bit more difficult to generate using the setup.bat or the qfg.exe.
Take an editor (e.g. notepad) and paste next code into a new file. Save it as acsetup.cfg in the same folder as qfg.exe and try to run the game again. It should then run windowed under XP.

Code: Adventure Game Studio
  1. [sound]
  2. digiid=-1
  3. midiid=-1
  4. digiwin=1096302880
  5. midiwin=-1
  6. digiindx=0
  7. midiindx=0
  8. digiwinindx=0
  9. midiwinindx=0
  10. [misc]
  11. gamecolordepth=32
  12. defaultres=3
  13. screenres=1
  14. letterbox=0
  15. windowed=1
  16. refresh=0
  17. gfxfilter=None

Probably because of my wierd, vista-imitating version of XPs :D
Title: Re: GAMESEEK - find old/missing adventure games
Post by: Leon on 07 Aug 2013, 10:36
You can play with the gamecolordepth, defaultres and screenres to change the values. What I tend to do is search a game that does work and copy the acsetup.cfg from that game into this one. A bit of try & error. What message do you get?
Title: Re: GAMESEEK - find old/missing adventure games
Post by: arj0n on 07 Aug 2013, 10:38
Try this version (I tested it and it does work for me), save to acsetup.cfg in your QfG4.5 folder as mentioned by Leon:

Fullscreen:
Code: Adventure Game Studio
  1. [misc]
  2. screenres=1
  3. windowed=0
  4. refresh=0
  5. [sound]
  6. digiid=-1
  7. midiid=-1
  8. digiindx=0
  9. midiindx=0
  10. digiwinindx=0
  11. digiwin=1096302880
  12. midiwinindx=0
  13. midiwin=-1

Or, if that for some weird reason doesn't work, windowed:
Code: Adventure Game Studio
  1. [misc]
  2. screenres=1
  3. windowed=1
  4. refresh=0
  5. [sound]
  6. digiid=-1
  7. midiid=-1
  8. digiindx=0
  9. midiindx=0
  10. digiwinindx=0
  11. digiwin=1096302880
  12. midiwinindx=0
  13. midiwin=-1

Note: make sure the acsetup.cfg you create doesn't contain lines that start with 1 or several empty spaces when you copy the posted info into the file...

Archive.org has a, well, archive of CD ROM Today coverdiscs, starting with Issue 1 (http://archive.org/details/CD-ROM_Today_-_The_Disc_1_April-May_1994). If you narrow down your search, you may be able to find that demo!

Not an adventure game but when I was a kid I went to this PC course and there was a game where you manned something like an Anti-Air bunker and you had to shoot planes and paratroopers. If a paratrooper managed to land safely, he would run to your bunker and kill you. If you managed to clear a level, a pizza truck would arrive at your bunker. It probably run on DOS or Win 95/98.
This might not be totally accurate but I was a small kid at the time.

Any guess?
Title: Re: GAMESEEK - find old/missing adventure games

@Grundislav: Could it be something from Humongous Entertainment? It's colourful cartoony, has anthropomorphic characters and silly voices. Not sure about midi sound though. Couldn't find any ape in their list either. I do have "The Disk" 1-7 except 4 so 1994 is pretty much covered. Humongous was the only thing commercial I could find on there that resembled your description a bit.

@Mati256: Sounds like a paratrooper game  (roll). But since there are so many clones and makeovers of that game- and type, can you remember more details?

  3. use gun on helicopter
  4. ...

There's this game that I remember downloading from the AGS website, but I can no longer find it (or, at the least, i'm having trouble finding it).

It was an offensive game about an evil scientist that built some sort of machine that turned every man in the world gay, and it was up to the protagonist (supposedly the only character in the game to not be affected by it) to destroy the machine. The graphics were kinda poor, looking like the whole thing was drawn in MSPaint, and much of the humour in the game was more or less a string of gay stereotypes.

Anyone know which game i'm talking about?

I believe you might be talking about Femspray (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1154/), although in that, the scientist is trying to turn all males female, not gay. Also, I'd say the art was good for what was needed, and the animations were hilarious, as was most of the game!
Title: Re: GAMESEEK - find old/missing adventure games

BishyT: There's a game called Femspray (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1154/) which almost matches the description you have given but mainly differs on two points:

1) Scientist creates a chemical.

2) Each man turns into a girl.

I know that this is not, what you're looking for. But in the meantime why not try this game for an exchange?

EDIT: Babar defeated me and got there first :D.

I remember an old AGS-made game - it was a one-room game, but whether it was for OROW or not I can't remember - I think you were trapped in a pit / cavern of some kind, you played an archaeologist.  I would like to find it again because it was one of the cleverest uses of the one-room game idea that I've ever played... anyone got an idea what the name is?  Can't remember how old it is, I'm guessing at the very least 6 years old.

Still looking for 3.0.1.1018 and probably 3.0.2 (not sure one exists...). Alternatively, I will be grateful if someone could point me out any game made with 3.0.2 AGS (exactly that version).

It's not an AGS game (sorry for that, I haven't found more suitable topic for this yet), but I'm wondering if, by any chance, anyone has a functioning Windows copy of a FMV adventure game Mirage. Trailer can be found here:
. It was made around 1993 (it says 1995 in the title of the trailer, but I don't think that's accurate) and it seems to be a pretty rare game. I own a Mac OS copy of this title, but a) I'm not using that system anymore, b) the CD got worn out by time (and bad storage conditions) and no longer works. I was mesmerized by this title as a child, even though I was never able to finish it. I thought it would be nice to refresh my memories and see if it's still an interesting game or a piece of excrement. If anyone could help me, I would be very glad.

That's only the demo, which can be found at several places around the web.
Are u sure?
They call full games demos over there.
They have an explanation somewhere on the site about why they do it.
I reckon it's the full game ,i'd put money on it :)
They only upload old games up to 2005(if i remember correctly)
Their forum legendsworld is good too,u can get help with running old games.
Sometimes u have to wait a bit  for a reply, but the guys there are very knowledgeable.
It's a great site ,not just for games ,but other old multimrdia type cds.
I've read posts from gamedevs ,who've found long lost games or cds there.
===========================================================
HERE U GO...(in F.A.Q)
Download links explanation.

1.) "Level Demo". This means an actual demo from the developer or shareware usually limited to 1 level or sometimes with a time limit.
2.) "Full Demo". This is more commonly known as a rip meaning that certain elements such as music, movies or speech were removed or "ripped out" in order to make it smaller and quicker to download.
3.) "Iso Demo". This means a cd-image of the complete game on cd which you can burn and get an exact copy.
We use the word demo for all of our game uploads, because it's important to us that the downloads are really used as a demo . If you like the game then go and buy it; the developers deserve it.

Full and iso-demos are either our own uploads or lead to Oldgames- & Abandonware sites  (usually from 1981-2000). Direct links to downloads from other sites/boards are of course also not included .

The links are in HTTP and torrent.

Perhaps this is the reason they call those full ISOs a demo.

Yes, it's a rather lame attempt to exempt themselves from accusations of distributing pirated materials. Much in the same way rom sites use the old "download only if you own the original cartridge, or delete within 24hrs" argument, which is also nonsense.

While the legality of abandonware can be argued, providing links to ISOs of current releases is very much illegal.

I posted in another thread that I am looking for a game. I am resigned to never find it. The last copy is probably lost.

But yet, I look for another. This one is based in space. It is in first person view. The player starts in a ship, and has to escape from it. There's noone on board. When the player get out, the ship is landed on a planet (before one can get out, theres a space suit that has to be worn). The player then goes to an alien building (I suspect its a bar). Later, one has to escape from the aliens. One has the abiity to see from top, on a schematichs kinda view; sometimes the aliens catch you and shot you.

Thanx

It isn't. As I said, First Person View. You never see the character. And it is newer than SQ1.

I am now playing SQ1 EGA :P

I think the game is german.

Could it be one of these games (http://superalf.blogsport.de/2012/03/28/mission-supernova-andromedas-erbe-download-mirror/)?

There's one on AgsArchives. For some reason it is not in games database, but there's an archive on server:

I'm looking for a non-adventure game (sorry). It was a 2d, DOS game. You were in a stationary bunker or something in WW2 and planes came in (these were probably very simple 3d). You had to shoot them down. It was kinda first person. You could turn the gun 360 degrees I believe. Any ideas any one? I specifically remember the planes made a nice 'pop' effect when you got them, almost like balloons. And they would break into a bunch of little pieces.

Not a DOS game, but that reminds me much of the Operation Blockade (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NRR79W_MCU).

Dang that's extremely similar, Crimson, but it's not it. The game I'm thinking of works and feels virtually the same but looks a good 5-10 years older. I'm 99% sure it was the typical DOS era look. The environment looked similar to Red Baron 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xD8-WytDpQM).

Found by references: game called "Beach Head". Looks like there were several remakes in different periods (even on C64).

Paratrooper.

@Crimson:

Hm all I can find under Beach Head is either too modern or looks like this:

...which is definitely not it, this is too old. But it's exactly that kind of game.

@Radiant:

Nah it's not paratrooper. It did have more graphics than that, it was definitely a bit newer, and it was from the same perspective as Operation Blockade and Beach Head.

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

Also, in my search I rediscovered Fire Fight (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ShCa-H4SSU) which I was also looking for. What a great looking game. So that's something at least! :)

I wonder if anyone still has the first build of META? It's dated December 2005, whereas the current one (which I do have) is dated August 2006. Out of academic curiosity I would like to have the first release if possible.

The one I have has acsetup.cfg and untitled.agr modified on 31/1/2006, but META.exe and winsetup.exe modified on 1/1/2006 (Date created is just now, because I just unzipped it, and date created on the archive is from when I copied over my old files). Do you remember there being any changes to the game between the time you released it and the build you have?

Hello, I'm looking for a game, not an adventure game but an arcade. The action took place inside a boat and you had three players and could choose the way to enter the boat, by helicopter, by a small boat or by a submarine. It was a game like Cadillacs and Dinosaurs (don't know what genre that is) and you could pick up objects from the scenery to use as weapons.

Howdy!

I was just wondering if anyone would happen to have a copy of the game "Harrys Strange Day" (link) (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/211/) ? I'm the creator (not something I'm proud of ...) but I lost the original files, and the game has been missing for years. It's a lousy game, but it'd be fun to have a look at it again after all these years, so if anyone does have a copy I'd appreciate it if they could send me a PM or something.

Kind regards

I was reading a thread here on the forum yesterday.
If anyone knows where to download the games,i think there was maybe four or five games in the series.
I have no idea if they are good games, but i was interesting after reading about them.

The quality can really vary from one ron game to another.
Some of them have really top notch graphics style and others not so great.
But sometimes the gameplay/story e.t.c can be a lot of fun ,even though the graphics style might not be great.

I once played a demo of a point and click adventure game where you play as an anthropomorphic monkey dude trying to save his pig friend from some rhinos who had him roasting over a fire (wait, aren't they herbivores?). If you got too close they'd throw a grenade at you. The only other thing I remember is that there was like an old witch's hut or something with a giant mortar and pestle and if you tried to combine the wrong ingredients there'd be a little skull and crossbones smoke cloud or something and you'd just die.

I can't find anything about this game anywhere! And was this based on Journey to the West?

Please help me...

This is what I could find: http://www.pcgamer.com/uk/2014/03/20/cart-life-open-source/

His website is suffering from heavy bandwidth load, unfortunately. :(

Judging from the Wikipedia's article (and the articles from which Wikipedia's article derives source itself): it's a must play game. I just hope that may his website return so that I'd be able to play this gem of a game too.

Since the game was supposedly commercial, therefore it's fitting why Peder didn't add it to his server. Had he uploaded a copy of the source (when the game became opensource), we could've easily compiled it and play ourselves. But it's too late now. :)

Edit: I found a link to KodiakBehr's website from one of his later games Rogue State and was able to download it from there: https://www.littlereddoggames.com/
Have fun. It's a cracking game.

Thanks Stupot+

Your review on this game told me this was a game worth tracking down and playing, and I'm so glad I did. :-D

I loved Conspirocracy!

I have two games that I dearly loved made by some guy called Romeo-something years ago. Raindog: A Tom Waits Story and Journey to Hell. I will figure out how to upload them and post them in here with an edited post.

A Raindog Story

Journey To Hell

If anyone could test these links out and see if they work it would be much appreciated.

Not sure why Medieval Prisoner is listed on AGSA, but doesn't have a download :-/. I've tried looking through my local archives etc, but unable to find it...

My old PC finally kicked the bucket, may it rest in peace, and I lost some of my old AGS games. One of those games was just awesome, I loved it, it was one of my favorites--but I haven't played it in awhile, and I kind of forgot what it was called.

Can anyone help me? I've scoured the game archive but I can't find it. It wasn't a traditional adventure game. In the game, you play as a wizard or sorceror, in charge of a tower. It was a card game, in which you defend your tower and try to earn points. Also it was awesome.

Hubris by Ghost, maybe? Here's the completed games announcement (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=45322.0) and here the database entry. (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1541/)

Oh hey! Hubris is a good game too, thank you! I think you're groovy. But....its not the one. This game was about a single wizard in a tower, repelling attacks with cards.

Hmm... Dungeon Hands is the only other AGS game I can think of right now that vaguely fits:

Can anyone help me finding the last version of "The Quiet Game"?
I managed to find only buggy OROW version.
Improved version is mentioned in this topic: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=52757  but all the links are broken.

Thank you!

Also looking for "Library frustration":

This game is stored on weird site 2shared.com which doesn't allow me to download anything and just sends me to various spam sites.

Thank you.

I've tried to get in touch with Hernald who made the game, if he gets back to me I'll upload a copy somewhere. Unless someone else has a copy hanging around already?

I'm looking for the demoversion of Story of Joijo (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=45005.0); the link died some time ago, and I cannot find it on my PC either.

Perhaps anyone happens to have the demo of A Night at Camp Ravenwood (https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=43051.0)? The link at Screen 7 website is now dead, and I cannot find it elsewhere on the Net.
